According to the sign, its the ATI HD 2600X(T?), but the sticker on the notebook is a nVidia sticker. We're still left in the dark here!

Yes, its either going to be an nvidia 8600M or ati HD2600 GPU. However, if it isn't the higher performance version (of either - 8600GT or 2600XT) then the F8 will tank even before it hits market. Not that it will be bad, but it will not meet expectations, that being that it has an equal GPU to the G1s.
-
Check out this pic:
the site claims that it will have the NVidia 8600M GT... -
Excellent find!
That has got to be the F8, the hinge is correct. I guess it'll have the 8600GT. And it confirms the F8 is 14", unless that touchpad is unusually large... -
-
i don't know why it would tank. it's a 14 inch laptop so it's already in a different class than the g1s behemoth. if it is a comparable graphics, i might worry more about pricing then anything. A 8600GT will probably skyrocket the price to around 2000 dollars.
-
Considering the A8js had the 7700, which rivaled the larger G1s(which was already the most powerful sub 17" in the market), the F8 having an 8600GT isn't that impressive in our eyes - perhaps ASUS spoiled us with the A8js in the first place.
However, as Wilson said, the F8 having the 8600GS should be pretty impressive still, but the 8600GT would be amazing. -
ok...maybe a stupid question... do you guys think that the F8S will be lower priced than the G1S...I assume so, coz its got a smaller screen...
-
Doubt it, the 15.4" is the 'sweet spot' anything larger or smaller will result in a price increase. Why? Less materials = cheaper? Perhaps, but smaller = more R&D, larger = more devices/options/ports.
-
Plus, 15,4" is the de facto standard for laptops, so most are 15,4". Hence, volume = cheaper.
The finish of the inside of the F8 seems to be glossy champagne coloured (compare to matte silver of the A8). Thankfully, they've changed the touchpad though. -
-
considering how much they crammed into a 14" laptop, the specs are already very impressive. Now we just have to wait and see if it really is the AMD HD2600 or nVidia 8600 GT (prays it's the 8600 GT) and how the two cards stack up against each other.
-
How does the 8600 GT perform on Ue3 games? I'm really looking forward to playing UT3 when it comes out and it'd be awesome if this notebook/gfx card could support it well. Would high settings be out of the question? How about medium? And also, what notebook gfx cards are able to play games like these properly on high, and do they come in a 14/15.4" form factor?

Or the same Rep-Bot. I would expect the end of August, possibly even September, the way releases have been going for them so far.

NDA, they don't want to get fired

There are probably templates in their MS Outlook. first category: country, Second category: model, then just double-click and add the asker's name. done.

Nice link! We now have some info on the V2s as well (when I last checked, that had nofirm graphics card as of yet). Nice to know that it has the 8600GS, pretty solid specs.
Ohhh...I want an F8s.....lol -
V2S and F8S seems very similar, but F8S weigh 1kg more...
V1S? V2S? F8S? Omg, I can't wait!! -
Wow the V2s is a good price for $1600 US.
-
-
The current V2j is $1899, so I assume it'll retain that price.

Those are good looking laptops.
-
Well according to that site both the V2S and the F8S have the same GPU, the 8600M GS (with the F8S having the option of the HD 2600?). The V2S seems to be a tad lighter (+5 pts for V2S) and I'm assuming it has better build quality because its from the business line laptops?
So which do you all think is better (assuming the F8S wont carry the 8600 GT as we all hoped)? -
Updated specs: http://techzonept.com/showthread.php?t=169847
-
Wait, how do you know the GPU? Or is it a guess....?
If that doesn't have some kind of source behind it, it almost certainly isn't going to happen. In all of Asus' materials, its called the F8S, which indicates that there is only one (dedicated, obviously) graphics card available. In ones with more than one GPU, they add another letter depending on what GPU it has. For example, A8Ja/m/p/s (X1600/Go7600/X1700/Go7700) and Asus F3Jm/p (Go7600/X1700), etc; compared to G1s (8600GT) and W7s (8400G). Thus, the F8 probably will have only one GPU. Hopefully it is the 8600GT, but nobody knows.
-
Anyone else think it's strange the 15,4'' V1s has a weaker (and cooler) GPU than the 14,1'' V2s in the specs posted in that link?
-
But according to the link, the F8 is going to cost 2000EUR. Not sure is it worth it. -

I like the F8Sv, thats what I would get instead of a G1S not so "gamer" looking and has all the stats.
C90S comes in today, lets hope it doesnt let me down. -
The GPU and the rest of the specs were taken from chinese sites.
EDIT: http://notebook.yesky.com/392/3427392.shtml
Also, the 2000€ is a guess, as I said in portuguese.
I haven't found any price for the F8S so far.
