Wrong, I'm from China and I can tell you that everything costs more there. The Asus G1p cost a good 20,000 yuan over there, converts to about 2500USD. The G1S is an estimated 20,000 yuan as well, but I just bought one here in Canada for $1889 CAD after rebate.

    Someone plz tell me they're kidding . . .

V1s with 8400 (GS or GT?) ......................

    V2s states a 8600gs, F8 with HD2600/8600GT, but V1s bigger and lesser GPU???

Doesn't make sense, to me at least ............

EDIT: Just remebered this part "Também encontrei uma versão com 8600M GT nos EUA, por $1900."

Anybody with the knowledge care to explain? Thanks in advance . ..

    ASUS F8S series

ASUS F8S used 14.1-inch widescreen but the definition gets to WXGA+ grade (1440*900). It based on Intel Santa Rosa, used Core 2 Duo T7300 processor (2GHz, 4MB L2 cache, and 800MHz bus), PM965 chipset, Intel 4965AGN wireless network card, at most 4GB DDR2 memory, 160GB SATA HDD, DVD recorder, TPM security chip, fingerprint identity, 1.3 million pixels camera, TV Tuner and Bluetooth 2.0 module.

In addition, it also can choose AMD (ATI) or NVIDIA graphic cards. It used AMD F8Sa series which equipped ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 solo graphic card. The NVIDIA is F8Sv series which equipped GeForce 8600M GT.

    Interesting find!

The hinges look really plasticy in my opinion, if they have it another colour, it may look better. Of course, this is based off the pictures as shown :p

Yeah, doesn't look quite as great when you open it up. Maybe it needs a hot model holding it. :D

I think it will be hard to decide on this, the F8S, or the V2S, for me at least.

if they have different GPU's then it will be easier to decide which one to get and for me the better GPU. :)

Almost. The only other 14er with a 8600GT I can think of is the Zepto ZNote 6224W.
I really do wish this would be comming out this month. But that's very very unlikely, especially given that I'm in the UK.

I think we'll have to wait for the actual price of the V1S and the F8Sv, dunno how many extra hundreds of dollars the 8600 GT is worth over the GS.

Most likely be +$100. The F8Sv might have a better GPU but the build quality will definitely be lower than the V2S (I know you stated V1S, but V1S is 15inch with 8600GT.).

Also, how do you think the HD 2600 compares to the GS and GT? fall in between somewhere?

I wonder how big a difference there'd be between the V2S performance and the F8Sv performance (I'm thinking FPS and synthetics here). The essential difference would be the GS versus GT. People say that there's a massive margin between them, but I'm not so sure. The V2S has the advantage that it'll be out sooner (by about a month?)...

Not to ruin anyones party, but the info and specs have yet to be confirmed by ASUS themselves, so take it with a grain of salt. However, the likelihood is quite high in my opinion.

i'm not sure they have staff to answer inquiries about upcoming asus models. i might be wrong though.
currently, it's not out in Taiwan yet, or else I would have told my cousins to pick one up for me

The W3j had a gunmetal grey colour scheme, unless you are talking about the W3z which had a black colour scheme(Oh man, it was sooo sleek).

Wow...This is the laptop that I was looking for. If this comes out before the end of August I'm canceling my m1330 order.

It seems that this laptop is coming out in Asia before it is in the US. Is there a way to get one before it is released here? Are there any reputable sellers that would be able to ship internationally?

Which version are you planning on buying the HD2600 with more battery life or the 8600GT with more power?

As for estimated price...it can't cost that much. I'd expect it to be around $2000.

i'm not sure if you can find a reseller that's willing to ship it internationally. luckily i have family back in asia who can bring it back for me :D as for the graphics cards, i'm definitely going with the 8600GT, the battery life is fine on those cards anyways, i'm not expecting more than 2 hours anyways. as for cost, it should be around that of the A8s...which I think were around $1600 or $1700.

It doesn't seem unlikely, but I don't like the fact that the price is going up again...maybe it will drop by $200 in a few months like the A8Js did. Hopefully.

At that price, I honestly think I would go for a V2s instead. Not quite as powerful, but lighter, better build quality and better durability, and better looks (imo).

the F8 is pretty light already...but i guess if you're looking for portability, then the V2s is better. the F8 should have pretty good build quality though right?

I don't think anyone knows what the build quality of the F8 will be like. Several months ago, when I first heard leaked rumors of the F8, it was said to be the 14.1" version of the G series, which would imply good build quality. However now it's looking more like it will replace the A8Js as the 14.1" mobile gamer, so it might have not so good build quality, maybe like the A8 series, or maybe like the F3 series.

Ya the first I had heard of it was milestonepc.com said it was going to be a version of the a8 that was like the g1. It was supposed to be a gaming series with a backpack.

Well, it is, in a way. Its essentially a G1s in the generic thin and light A8 chassis, plus an HP lid and W3-style hinge. Not a G series in terms of looks or accessories.

This is something I thought before as well: if it was a gaming series version of the A8, wouldn't they have called it the G8s? Which is why the G-version of the A8 never seemed to fit....

now i just have to wait to see how good the build quality is :/
if only it was as good in build quality as the V-series or G-series

It has all my specs too, but one problem will hunt me forever: the heat! i mean excepting MBP, all the 15" lappies with 8600GT have heat problems (1520, G1s, etc) and the F8 will have at least the same levels of heat! :(

Looking at the rumored specs for the V-series, if the F8 had equivalent build quality then there'd be little sense in anyone buying a V :). The V2s has similar specs to the F8Sc (again, rumored), but a GS instead of a GT! Poor V2s wouldn't have much going for it.

Supposedly the Znote 6224w isn't that bad at all with heat, so it's possible to make a laptop like this that isn't a radiator.
