Well the graphics card in the G51 would kill both the X5 and the Sager, but if I'm strictly limited to about $1000 i cant really upgrade the G51 when it hits stores.. so im stuck with 2.0 GHz... Although the graphics card is a lot nicer, isnt a 2.0 CPU a LITTLE bit slower than i'd like for a) gaming b) multitasking?

The Sager still seems like it offers the best bang for $1000 because the graphics card (mobility HD 4650) is only a small step down from the 9800 GS thats in the X5, and I can choose a CPU at a much higher speed (2.4 vs 2.13)

Cant wait for those pics, sonny!

Just so you guys know, I called BB this morning about the g50vt-x5 and the rep said that there is "probably one laptop left in the entire USA."

So, sorry to you guys who were looking to buy that one.

In an addition to this, if u have time, try to mention how the speakers, sound and how good is the cooling (loud?, overheating? etc). You could basically make a small initial review of the product, that would be good.

I don't believe the CPU in the BB G51 has been confirmed, has it?

Regardless, in terms of longevity, its much easier and cheaper to upgrade your CPU at a later date as opposed to the graphics card... which can't be upgraded at all. Once you buy that laptop, you're stuck with that GPU for the life of that laptop. The same isn't true for CPU's.

I'm not interested in X5. What I'm looking for is the Newegg model that replaces the X6.

Also, you could just use the included (quad core?) cpu and then replace it when the warranty expires. After 2 years the highest and best qprocessor should be much cheaper.

I agree. If its too loud, I may have to look elsewhere...maybe start a new thread named G51 BB Review, or something to that effect, like Clutch did with his g50.

Shouldn't this at least have the same processor speed as the G50VT-X5 (2.13Ghz C2D)? Doesn't make sense to me why they'd put a slower processor in the new model.

I noticed that "32" following the 4GB, so I figured that was related to Vista... If so, that ain't cool.

Although I'm aware they need to squeeze some amount of profit out this rig, I am surprised they downgraded the CPU.

Thanks for the pics sunnyc90. The design on this laptop is quite nice and much improved over the X5 and the MSI's I've been looking at IMO. Kinda strange they put a weaker processor in this than the X5 though. My guess is they had to cut corners somewhere if they wanted to keep this under $1k and still include a GTX260M 1GB.

I'm not sure what to do anymore. I was looking at the MSI-GT627 and GT725 since I didn't know how long I'd have to wait to get the G51 (want a new comp soon). Despite the weak processor, this comp still looks like a better option than the GT627 with the GTX260M being far superior to the 9800M GS. I like the 17" GT725 has the 2.40Ghz C2D, 2MP camera, and the 4850 prolly is comparable to the GTX260m but I'm still leaning towards a 15" lappy. What to do, what to do.

The screen size is the same as the last one so its a 15.6". The laptop came with a restore disc but on the disc its says its for the G60?? Hmm.. Could be a new model coming up.. don't know.

No.. 32bit only recognize 3.7gb.. i have no doubt that this comes with 64bit but will let you know for sure. I am liking the track pad and the mouse buttons.. Its not glossy like the G50vt.. Its a metallic finish.. Also the palm rest is a rubber finish not like the plastic on the g50.. Its a smooth finish..

The G60 is something we've known about for a while. Pics we've seen of it show the same shell and design as the G51.

Downloading the Windows 7 release candidate will solve that 32 bit Vista/RAM issue.

Hey, just one of the things you guys should note here. When windows 7 comes out, this thing will not be able to run the XP virtualization mode on that processor. You'll need to upgrade to the p8000 or p9000 series at least.

I just thought I should throw that out there.

    p.s. for 999, I'm still getting one. That's sick.

Even with the lower-class processor, I am hoping that G51 will perform like a beast (high fps for games) compared to the MSI GT725.

Here are some official specs.. Let me know if i am missing anything..

    Model: G51VX-RX05
    Processor: P7350 2.00GHZ .. Processor is Upgradeable.
    Memory: 4GB DDR2... 8GB max
HDD: 320GB.. Has a second bay but left empty just like the G50VT.
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
    Screen: 15.6" 1366 x 786 Max resolution just like the g50vt.
    Graphic Card: GTX 260M 1gb Gddr3

Has pre-sets of overclocking from asus with the special touch button of theirs..
    Battery is a 6 cell
    Has No OLED display
Has lights at the logo in the back and at the sides of the unit like the G05vt..
Apple Like keyboard.. It flex's a little and ITS A BACK LIT KETBOARD!!! You can adjust the brightness with the Fn Key..
4 USB ports, 1 USB/eSata hybrid, 1 firewire 400, Multicard reader, 1 mic in, 1 line out, 1 S/Pdif out, 1 Ethernet, DVD DL Burner. There no ant ext on this unit like the g50vt has. So really the only main difference is the graphic card and the new look and finish of the model compared to the g50vt x5.. I'd say if you get a hold of the GTX 260M 1GB graphic card and upgrade the G50VT then you pretty much would have this model.. System rating is 5.0.. and you guessed it.. The processor is holding it back.. I will definatly be getting a quad core and upgrading it in the next few months.. or when i can afford it.. lol

We know it's a P7350 from picture of the receipt. That's all you need to know for what I said. That processor does not support virtualization (according to intel's website).
