2900!!!!!!!!!!!
wow u could have got the w90 or the sager 950 or the m17x ...
wow man good sell
-
haha another australian (melbourne) member here. Actually in transit to move to america at this very moment (Charleston, South Carolina) and im really anticipating a Newegg version of G51 with FULL HD and a P8700 CPU.
-
i guess that the one with the p8700 is going to be the g71
-
By all means get a couple of pictures if you can.
The G51 temps have me a little worried( but that's only 1 unit so far ) so I hope the little extra space the G71 has can keep the temps in check.
the G71 from BB is starting to look much more interesting if that price is correct, better CPU while not being to much bigger. -
yeah man i hope that u are right
-
I don't want to read through 20 pages of posts, having already read through 20+, so I wanted to ask... is this out @ Best Buy yet?
Are the prices confirmed? Why is it not showing up on their site? -
I saw this at bestbuy yesterday. They didn't have a spec sheet for it and it wasn't logged on.
-
It's only out at some Best Buy's apparently. But people have only bought the G51 so far it seems. Don't expect that much more until June 26th.
-
Hopefully on June 26 when some people posted the G51 will officially come out the G71 is right next to it!
We need those pictures of the G71 from BB, all BLACK sounds right what I'm looking for -
My local Best Buy had a G51 listed @ $999, looked damn good in person. No 71s that I saw.
-
I think it's time someone makes a review with images and couple of benchmarks
I'm getting inpatient, I love the G50 design and the things I've heard about it, I really need to know if G51 will be better. So far, it sounds like G51 makes close results to an overclocked G50. As proud G1S owner for more than an year, I'm sure I won't get disappointed by Asus but still, I'm planning to buy from US again (since prices are doubled here)...I need to be sure
Anyone ?

I am just going to start a new thread with pics and all the info about this unit so keep an eye out for that.. going to have all my results posted there..

Sunny when you make it, post a link to the thread so we can all migrate there.

Sunny's G51VX-RX05 Review
There is still more to come so stay tuned and keep an eye on the first post.. I will keep it updated. -
oo i see its up
-
i saw it man and i already post on it
-
To Sunny and the other guy who got his G51 can you guys please post the temps using hwmonitor 1.14 64-bit version at idle and after running 3dmark06 and or vantage and 3dmark03 to see if all g51 gpus run at high temps? thanks!
-
-
you already have? i have not seen any screenshots of temps from the g51 system accept for the ones i posted?!
-
No no.. Already done the tests.. Just uploading photos in photobucket.. You'll see it in my thread soon.. Sorry for the confusion..
-
thanks sunny
i might get one too if i get some money -
And now, everyone, I bring you the all-black Asus G71GX-RX05, please enjoy. ;P
(It says P8600, but it's a 8700. Typo I guess)
(I know everyone knows it has the side lights, but yeah, just wanted to show it does. Sorry I couldn't get it during mid-flash)
Anyways,
I really like how it looks, it's sleek and awesome. The screen res is indeed 1440x900, I wish it was a bit higher. Then again, I'm used to the lower res screens and it still looks good.
I personally will probably end up getting this model, because even with the not-so-amazing res, the parts in it are amazing for the price!
This part did catch my eye though:
Do you guys think it means overclocking doesn't work? It was difficult to tell in the store with all the BB crapware loaded on it.
Lastly, sorry for the lower quality pics. It was from my iPhone.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 6, 2015 -
Does the G71 have backlit keys ?
-
-
The G71 was my next choice before the W840di was available. The deal breaker was the lack of SLi considering its competition. Nonetheless, the all black version looks awesome!
-
Ya i really love a backlit keyboard
i was debating on the new alienware,Sager 8662,Sager 9850 but for these prices i may just get something like this till nvidia reinvents the wheel for there new mobile GPU line. Im leaning more towards the G51 though i love the style .
-
WOW dude
u made my day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok ill go check on monday on my local BB to see if they have it...
Scyiik did u buy it ? -
I saw a g51 and g71 in best buy. The dude said they'd start selling on June 26th. The g51 looks really cool and feels solid but is a bit heavy. It's made of some quality materials too.
-
I didn't pick it up yet, if anything I'd wait till after the 26th for the Windows 7 update voucher thing.
And I'll probably wait till I hear more from Asus about the models the first week into July. -
yeah i might get it after the 26th too....
do u know if it was one 500gb or 2X250gb? -
Very nice.. I dont know when we are going to get these in Melbourne but when it does i will be playing with it.. Nice Pics Scyiik.. Can you check whenever you go in next to see if it had the extended battery or is it the 6 cell?
-
wow i swear this thread keeps getting better and better!
Thanks so much for the pics! Now I'm sure to get the 71, that thing looks like a beast! -
Also, I wanted to let you guys know that it has a little clamp thing that you need to press in to open it, so it has a locking thing.
I remember reading somewhere (might have been on just the G50) that it didn't have any soft of clamp, so that could be a plus. -
hmm if that's on a 6 cell i don't think it could last more than an hour on full battery...
still even if it was on a 9 cell i don't think it could pull off more than 2 hours at the most
BTW Scyiik do you happen to know how much it weighs? or did it seem heavy? -
Yeah the G71 looks quite nice and is definitely a killer value for the specs and price. Thanks for the pics scyiik. Still leaning towards the G51 though. The dimensions on the G71 seem a little larger than my current Inspiron 9300 which is just too big for me. Not that the G51 is terribly smaller, just prefer having a little smaller lappy this time around.
-
Holy crap. There really is no red trim.
Now I just need to wait for a 1920x1200 version and I'm good to go! -
I'm sure they'll sell 9-cells somewhere soon. I hope.
Anyways, it weighs a bit, but not too much. It had some part of it missing on the bottom, like taken out (a piece that was supposed to normally be there), so I think that made it a little less. Plus it was hard to tell with it being connected to the table and all.
But in all honesty, it didn't feel too heavy, but keep in mind it is a 17" -
And same here with the res, I would have bought it right there if it was 1920x1200, or even the step below. The 1440x900 is the only thing that has me a bit doubting, though it still looks nice. -
yeah i prefer the 17 inches laptops
-
the battery on the g51 with power savings maybe last two hours or so after recycled 5 times from full charge to min level...
the geforce 260m gtx is a 75watt consumption video card.. the power brick is dam huge and does 19v x 6.16amps i think which is about 120watts for system.. so that on a 4200mah battery and not last long..! -
Don't expect it to last long if you pull it out at Starbucks. Then again, what great gaming laptop can do that? -
If the weight is not too heavy, this has moved up near the top of my list. My question is, I thought ASUS was moving to 16:9 resolutions, but 1440x900 is 16:10. Also, I thought 17.1" was a 16:9 screen size? I wonder if Newegg or other resellers is going to offer a comparible notebook that looks the same but includes the 2 year 1 accidently no bright dot warranty plus the gaming mouse and backpack for around the same price. I want to see someone scoop one of these G71s up and put it through the tests.
-
I'm pretty sure this G71 is just 17", not 17.1", so would that make it 16:10 and 144x900?
To be honest, I never really looked into screen sizing, resolutions, panels, etc. So I don't know too much about it. -
Scyiik, was there a G51 there, too? If so, how did the chassis compare between the two? Close? Noticeably smaller?
The back panel (with the screen) of the G71 has a bit of bezel which makes me wonder...I thought they would've fit a near edge-to-edge screen on the G71, if they were the same chassis.
Thanks, mate!
~Ibrahim~
P.S. Games look MUCH better at native res. I should know: Crysis is only really playable on 1440x900 on my 1680x1050 20.1" monitor. However, it looks much sharper and clearer on 1680x1050 than on 1440x900. Both resolutions 16:10, too. -
not to hijack,
but has anyone heard any new news about the U81 that was suppose to release with these new G laptops?
I believe sonny said it like 40 pages back...? -
That g71, has my mind made up! I'll get that! I just need to upgrade the CPU, and I would be set.
the new asus g51
