Hello. I´ve my new g51, that the g71 is discontinued in all bestbuy stores. Last year, i was buyed a dell xps m1530 and have better processor than this... I´m dissatisfaction about this.
You think that this processor is ok for game? I play to simulators like grid,race07, etc....
Unfurtunatly, i cannot wait to september that comes another time the g71.
You think is "best buy" this laptop for 1050 plus tax?

Regards to forum and sorry for my bad english.

Another thing: Is necessary change the bios like g71?

    Regards.

The P7350 is very overclockable, and at stock can play most games without a hitch. Since most games are bottlenecked by the GPU, not the CPU, you should be fine.

Very good buy. It'd be even better if it was the initial $999, but it's not going any lower, unfortunately.

No need to change the BIOS.

I need some help. Do you guys think the g50 outer case with the painting on it like our g51s will fit the g51? I was thinking of putting the all black outer case on mine. It looks identical to the g51 minus the paint job. Do you think the different display resolution would change the internal layout of the lcd case?

^ well techinically on mwave.com it doesnt mention...but nonetheless it should come with it. A1 all come with those accesories. maybe they decided to keep it for themselves since they arent obliged to give it. You bought what it says on the specs list...lol but again idk maybe you can call em?

Anybody know where I can buy a faster processor than 7350, online or in not-online shop in Los Angeles? Regards

Any of the P9xxx, T9xxx, and the X9100 are faster than the P7350. You can stop by RJTech in Diamond Bar if you want to buy a new CPU.

This laptop has a hard time fitting in 15.6 inch laptop bags, so a 16 inch is better. Do any of you actually carry this thing around?

    The RX05 doesn't support quads.

On another note, 8mm-tall copper heatsinks don't fit in this guy. Hopefully the 4mm ones will work just fine.

I carry it to, almost everyday in college. I use an old MacBook 15" slip case (its all stretched up because I used to fit a 17" HP laptop there) and a regular backpack. And yes, its kind of heavy but acceptable.

Just lug around your Sager. You've added a bunch of weight as it is.

Speaking of added weight, does the copper block have to be completely on the heatsink, or can it hang off a bit? While the 4mm-tall ones are obviously shorter, they are longer (18mm vs 14mm), and might hang off a little bit depending on where I want to put them. I really don't have a lot of space to put those blocks.

The most faster that we can put is the core 2 xtreme like yours?

Yes, the blocks can hang off a little bit. Some of my 8mm blocks have only half of the mounting surface touching the main heatsink. Sekisui #5760 and my secret ingredient makes an incredibly strong bond.

You should have bought the smaller 13x12x4mm Chinese blocks. 18x14x4mm is way too big unless you are willing to cut them.

Oh, I'm heading out to The Home Depot tomorrow to get some copper sheets for my northbridge and HDD heatsink mod. You can kiss your HDD temp records goodbye tomorrow night.

I'm kind of hardware deficient right now. I'll try to borrow one when I have the change. Damn, I'll need a vice too.

EDIT: Actually it turns out that it's not viable option. I actually dropped off a block with a friend to see if he could sand it down, but with his sander it couldn't.

? That's weird. I remember using one to grind down steel bars in shop class back in the day. Copper shouldn't be a problem.

I'd stop up at the local Home Depot and get belts designed for metal. I'm not to familiar with belt sanders, but if they're anything like drills they'll use different paper for wood and metal.

After looking at the review Zrehmz posted, I looked in CPUz to see my RAM speeds. When in the Memory tab, it says my DRAM frequency is 500MHz, and the FSB: DRAM is 2:3. I thought my FSB overclock also overclocked my RAM? Shouldn't my DRAM timings reflect that?

COome to think about it, that's the only real question I've had that hasn't been answered before I asked it. Gotta start somewhere, right?

Well, the first person didn't have a belt sander. Just a regular sander along with eleventy-one thousand types of paper. I wonder if Home Depot could do it for a fee.

    Eleventy one?

    What number comes before that?

Home Depot might be able to do it for free, but I've don't think they have a belt sander set up anywhere. At least mine doesn't. All I've ever seen is a table saw for wood.

Why are you two making this so complicated? Just get a Dremel and a grind head and chop off all the excess height you want removed from the heatsinks. Then you can manually sand the suckers flat. You can even take it to a belt sander for finishing touches if you want it to look pretty.

I don't think he has either of those.

In which case he can cut out the "use a dremel and then belt sand them flat" and go directly to "belt sand them" and collect his 200$.

The problem is just finding someone with either of those things <_<

I have both, and I have high grit sandpaper for finishing the job.

I invite both of you to my humble home so I can sand your heatsinks and slap both of you over the head.

Wait a minute, dude. I have an even BETTER idea.

Why don't you set off a tactical nuke just close enough to you to melt off the 4mm you don't need from the heat sink without melting off your face?

That's an original fix. And given the current geopolitical climate, finding a tactical nuke might actually be easier than finding a belt sander.

    So I'm thinking of buying the g51 - either the X1A or the X2A. The key difference between the 2 is processor speed, one being 2.53GHz and the other 2.8GHz. I need a LOT of processor speed for what I am planning to do (Wii Emulator), but the X2A is getting kind of expensive here in Canada ($1700). I had a few questions;

1)Isn't overclocking a laptop a bad thing? Everywhere I've read has said not to do it.
    2) It comes with it's own official overclocker, right? Doesn't it over clock by 20%? How many GHz would that net me? Can I still do the *less* official on top of that?
    3) I know doing the less official way will be random at what I could get from it... what would be a minimum and a maximum for both of the laptops?

And I thought I was blind. I have narrower eyes than you and I can easily find what I'm looking for. These are the same heatsinks I used on my machine along with the Thermaltake and Akasa ones. The Chinese ones I have are the 10x9x4mm variation of the RHS-03.
