I think he means that 70*C is his temperatures when browsing around. GPU-Z and HWMonitor both report temperatures in one second intervals. If you are observing a five second gap, then that means that something is hogging CPU resources and holding up the program. The only component that has "slow" temperature reporting is the ACPI.

    More like €70.

Anyway, it's 81F in my room, and the Zalman is running full blast. (I just finished swiss-cheesing my backpanel.) My GPU is about 46C.

And by seventy I meant processes.

I've noticed my GPU seems to idle right around 58-60C most of the time.

if its idling at that temp powermizer is most likely not enabled. be sure to check with GPU-Z and make sure your clocks are at 200/120. if they are not powermizer is not kicking in.

I installed CPUID and GPU-Z. Just played the new Wolfenstein game on medium to high settings (about 1200x900) for about 90 minutes then checked the max temps. The CPU only hit 44C, the GPU hit 90C. Sitting here about 10 minutes later the CPU/GPU are at 31C/50C.

Not sure how much load that game puts on the GPU.

what exactly did you do ?

also since u guys are talking about temps here ....... heres my question

which is the best cooler for the G51-RX05 out of these 3? since from my understanding the fan is on the side of the Esc key but has vents on the bottom along with that fake grill intake ..... right ?

    This.

Not shown in the picture is my new bottom panel, which is riddled with 1/32'' holes, and the copper shims wedged between the northbridge and GPU heatsinks.

Going to install there Sunbeam things in a second. Still waiting for more copper blocks. And have to figure out a way to hammer flat four pieces of copper with the tools I have.

He yelled at his GPU and it cried. The GPU tears acted as a coolant for the heatsink and it lowered his temperatures.

dam element and guys...how you getting so low temps for the GPU? i get 60C and when my screen is off, the gpu temps drop down to like 50C. what have you done to actually get those low temps? did you start off with it? also my c2q idles at around 52C, which seems about rite?

btw im 100% sure its at powermizer 2D clocks, gpu reports 200/120. cmon i wanna figure this out, although in the long run, its a known fact that teh G51 can resist high temps. idk i just like to have the peace of mind that my gpu temps are lower than 55C lol

CPLTPILOT - how the heck to you max out at 44C while playing a game? thats like unreal...goddam 31C idle, how i wish i had that

EDIT: haha nice to know my cpu temps are normal. saw forge's test with his copperblocks and he gets 72C in 3dmark. i get the exact same on two cores and 70 on two other cores. the gpu puzzles me tho....

I have done absolutely nothing. my CPU is even overclocked to 3.1GHz and never breaks 61C when gaming, occasionally breaks 63-65C when stress testing but stabilizes at 61C after ~15 minutes. I am very, very tempted to change the thermal paste on my GPU, to see if that'll keep my temps below 90C.

Well, this bites. Turns out you can't fit a Sunbeam heatspreader on the underside of the bottom RAM stick. I had two sides applied to one stick--I only bought one two-spreader kit to test out clearance--and the damned thing wouldn't fit on the bottom interface. Had to switch places with the naked one.

On the bright side, the top of the last stick has enough clearance, so there we go.

Ambient as of this moment is 81C. With the Zalman at full blast I'm getting 46C on the GPU.

...weird when i run it the mult. stays at 6.0, it never goes up???

yea this is weird even when i OC it says i got 22S at 1560MHz i peak at 60C WAIT NVM - i reloaded program says 1921MHz got 20.01 secs...

edit: another question i was asking myself, i decided on the zalman instead of teh xpad.

i dnt knw abt the xpad ..... from reading reviews at amazon, its like 50% like it & dont like it, although the concept seems cool .... & the tiny antec cooler has mostly positive reviews ...... but the Antec USB-Powered Notebook Cooler wouldnt work coz it sucks air away from the vents, which is the opposite of wats it supposed 2 be doing for the G51 ...... i would just buy all 3 to test it but I cant now since im moving to davis for univ

& man i could keep reading on & on about the cooling threads & mods while time flies & my beard grows ....... but prob is I just cant remembr all of it :S

& soviet add me on steam or accept my invite ..... lets see ur skills in l4d :O .... anyone else here play l4d ?

@ ZeusV. The USB Antec won't do you any good since it sucks air in. The smaller Antec has some benefit since it pulls "cool" air in and directs it under the laptop. The main issue I see is that you aren't going to be able to balance the laptop on the cooler very well (which is necessary in order for the airflow to go under the laptop) without covering the intake vents... They really should have made longer arm extensions for that cooler.

Of those three you listed I would say the Xpad might be your best bet... You might want to take a look at this. That should boost your confidence about it's performance. Personally though, I want to give the Vizo Xena II a shot and see how that goes.
