Well, were the color lines horizontal or vertical line? When this happened, it is mainly caused by the graphic card

Dixie1, tell the dell rep that you are at work that the business sent you to Indonesia. Ask them to replace the motherboard. Maybe this will work since the warranty is only valid in USA.

how to install a new driver ? should i uninstall the old driver 1st ??

btw here the solution from other forum :

    Install 9500 driver:

    1. Update from windows update

    2. Open device manager and uninstall 9400 from there if you have 9400 and 9200 listed

    3. Update 9200 to 9500 using manual method

    To manually install 9500 driver:

-open device manager then locate video
-right click it and click update
    -click browse my computer.... option
-click let me pick from ....
-uncheck show compatible .... check box
-browse to nvidia and install 9500 driver

Latest nvidia vista drivers are available here http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_drivers.html

    -------------

is it the right step to install a new GPU driver ?

Yeah..but i think it is a method for w7. Just uninstall it first using "uninstall or change a program." Make sure that you check to uninstall display driver only.

Hi guys, I got a couple of question.....

What driver to use on my Wireless, Half Mini-Card DW1515?
Drivers I found from Dell.com were only for 1510, 1397 and 1520 and none for 1515.

Is there a Microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter driver for XPS 1340 now?

    Thanks in advance

question for everyone about video drivers.

I've tried laptop video to go drivers, nvidia direct from their website, and dells drivers. I've run 3dmark06 with all drivers,, using stock clock speeds for all, and it seems the Dell ones get the best results (4900 Dell vs 4500-4600 for other newer drivers)

Is anyone else seeing the same results?

you can download the wifi card driver from here http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/to...s-modded-driver-for-windws-7-vista-and-winxp/

You have to try one by one to see which one installs to your laptop with no problem

I do get the "many color" hang once in a while too.

Might be something faulty with either drivers or the card.
Luckily i got 3y support so its no need to fix it soon.

But it would be nive to see if it helps with another driverset.
Think im on dell's own drivers now, but might be good to hange to pure nvidia?

Hi, there are vista drivers so I am assuming you're using windows 7. I am using windows 7 ultimate (x64) which has ms 1515 drivers. They work extremely well. I also have a Microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter installed in the device manager (I dont use it so I have no idea how it got there, see attached)

    Hello everyone,
I've problem when I try reinstall driver video on win7.
It gives me an error when I try to install G210m where 9400m is already installed. Tried Nvidia official, Dell and laptop2go drivers unsuccesfully.

You need to uninstall the driver using "uninstall or change a program." Then go to device manager to check whether there are any graphic drivers left. If so, then uninstall all of them. Then use driver sweeper to clean the leftover files. Then reboot. Then install the new driver.

Hi aalaptop, I'm using Windows 7 pro (64 bit). Well, my Wireless, Half Mini-Card DW1515 is working without any problem (yet? ). I just want to use the recommended driver from Dell.

While typing for this reply I opened my device manager to check the error code on Microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter driver and guess what?? :D to my surprise the Microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter #2 is working properly.

**Guess it has been fixed when I had the windows update (auto) few hours ago**

    Cheers!!

yeah the same thing happened to me after the windows updates. The ms drivers a great. I think all of the 1515 cards were sold under vista so I dont think dell will support a win7 driver, even though some people are using it with 7. With that being said the dell vista drivers should work fine for the 1515 wifi, I just havent tried them

Got mine Saturday and love it. I owned a m1530 and loved it but something was always breaking in it every 3 months so it was time to let it go.

I will say, FedEx Home delivery sucks. And I got the 2nd tier shipping.

uninstall the driver from control panel make sure to check mark delete driver installation file (or something like that).
Then you have to do a restart and only then you can install it.

I also uninstalled a video driver and tried installing a newer one but it threw an error... so I restarted the computer and installed with no problem

guys i have a brand new studio xps 1340. i formatted and installed windows 7 ultimate from scratch. i installed all of the drivers from the dell support site.

problems with sleep mode. it has issues when waking up it beeps like it is finding a device and the wifi light goes on and off and the wifi on the desktop indicate online and offline. Its behaving very strangely. I rebooted and wifi could not be turned on. button would not work either. no light would light up. i reset bios to defaults and it worked again. but when wakikng up from sleep it still flickers on and off while beeping and acting strange. anyone seen this or have a fix? what are the best drivers to get sleep to function properly?

So I bought an XPS 1340 Friday (not estimated to ship until January). I was pretty excited about the system as I got what I thought was a sweet laptop for my needs. However, I’ve been reading this thread and others, which suggest this model is riddled with problems. I’ve seen many post from people who simply say DO NOT BUY.

With a coupon, this configuration came out to $1580. Do you guys think I should cancel this order and look at a better reviewed make/model or just stick with it?

I will be using this as a desktop replacement (plugging into two flat panel monitors) and occasionally taking it with me to work while in bed or while traveling.

Personally I would've gotten as little RAM and hard drive as possible and put my own in (god knows what crappy SSD Dell is putting in). Other than that, I think it looks good and I think you'll like it, at least I like mine.

How hard/easy is it to make these upgrades after I get the system?

Is there a particular brand of SSD and Memory to be recommended?

The RAM isn't probably such a big deal, you can get 8GB kits on NewEgg for $399 (probably not worth it). After doing a bit of research, it looks like they come with Samsung SSD's which aren't bad and it looks like Dell isn't charging a ton, so you're probably ok the way it is. I would've put a OCZ Vertex or Intel X25-M in instead, but for $225 upgrade I'd say that's ok to stay with.

OK - awesome! That makes me feel a lot better about the purchase. I guess now its just wait and see time, hopefully it ships sooner then expected.

Although strangely, checking the status multiple times a day doesn't seem to expedite it's release...(/sarcasm)

Hi all, need some help here for my Dell Mobile Broadband Manager.

How can I use it? Tried inserting a sim card but the status remains the same "The mobile broadband device is not communicating."

Does anyone successfully connected their mobile broadband device?

The upgrade you mentioned was clean install upgrade or just normal kind of upgrade. I prefer you to do a clean install one because w7 will have less problem in the future.

Any of you guys experiencing hard drive noise issues? 320 GB 7200 RPM drive, Western Digital Black(i think). Its just loud, no clicks or anything. Its annoying in a quiet room.
