I was at A14, but something told me to go back to A11.... I'll upgrade again, and I'll post some comments.
The new chipset.... I think, it doesn't quite do the difference. I've been experiencing some hang ups (like 2-3min freeze), but I think it's because of the Office 2010 version I have... any thoughts?

This is regarding the Intel Wifi 6300 mini-pci wlan chip...

Yes, the latest drivers also lockup on me. But the drivers on the original cd (that came with it) did not.

Even after the setup.exe locks up, you can still install the driver "manually" (don't use setup.exe). You go thru Device Manager and choose the driver folder. I'm not exactly sure how, but I have the latest drivers running.

Now my 1340 won't wakeup from Standby, but not sure why, seems like the video drivers. I run x86 (32bit) so I'm worried Dell doesn't support 32bit like 64bit.

I'm afraid of using the latest or first drivers, the card drivers gave me my recent 2 weeks disaster with my 1340, hang-ups, frozen startup/shutdown, I don't think I'd like to have that again.....

I went for it, used the CD that came with it (thanks babyhemi), and installed the card right off the extracted driver (inf file), everything ran ok

I've also upgraded the bios and chipset. I havent noticed any difference except for two things. one, when I upgraded the bios the screen went white for about 30secs, scared the hell out of me! and two, after I upgraded the chipset I switched to turbo mode and everything frozen, worked fine after restarting. I didnt have any problems before upgrading so I'm not sure what the new bios does, any ideas?

Hi, does anyone know if the problem with the ethernet port not working on resuming Windows 7 from sleep is a hardware or software issue? Its the only problem I can't figure out with the problem plagued 1340...

Not really a 1340 question but....
Is there going to be a refresh soon? I need a smaller laptop 13" is the max I would need.

I'm looking for an MCE remote for my XPS 1340. My son has a 1318 it has an express card slot also, we compared slot blanks and mine is about 1/4 inch shorter. when I stick the 1318 blank in my 1340, it sticks out. Seems strange but, from what I read on this forum Dell obviously goofed when they spec's the 1340. Is their a specific remote P/N that fits the 1340, and do I need to somehow configure my computer to recognize the remote.
After using the HDMI port (with my SONY 48" LCD,) I really like that feature, seems like a remote would just make it that much more enjoyable. even if I can't get one to fit the slot, will any travel remote work with the IR port.

Just went to check out the new bios and chipset.

the dell support info says the new chipset version is for 32bit despite my 64bit filter. is that an issue?

will probably flash bios and install new chipset after my exams

hey dell have started reselling the 1340 on the au site. This means that they are either getting rid of old stock or are reselling them because of the bios update. Either way I still want the next model with an icore processor.

I have had a similar issue with the ethernet port since upgrading to Windows 7 Pro (64 bit). I have not really looked into it yet to see if it is related to sleep/wake but certainly my ethernet port is not working now.

I don't have a solution but I thought it may be useful to note that your problem is not an isolated case.

I really dunno what DELL is trying to do.

I like to monitor Dell Outlet for SXPS 1340. Here is the link. Thing is...recently it pops in and out. One moment I see 5 pages of SXPS 1340. I refresh, they are ALL gone. That is way too fast for someone to have added all to cart.

Even weirder, I can only look at the initial search result. If I try to sort by price, they all disappear and I get a refreshed list of ALL Dell Home laptops. If I try to see page 4...same thing.

But, I confirmed I can add the SXPS 1340s to cart that I can intially view to my cart.

Are they trying to reserve them or something?

I recently have experienced an awkward problem. No matter what driver I install (Vista 32/64) it just doesn't seem to work (While installing it, I receive a notification that an error has occurred). I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate (64), however on the official Dell site I just can't find a Creative Integrated Webcam Driver. Please help me.

    Howdy lads.

So i finally installed the new bios and related chipset drivers, as it said it resolved e-sata issues.

No go, computer still freezes up, give my tickinh hd-light with blackscreen or just give me some comppressed colorful lines on 1/10 of the screen.

So now im thinking about contacting support, as i would like my e-sata to work if im gonna get a ssd : /

Someone else got e-sata problems, or someone managed to fix it?
I tried it with both sata2 and sata1 drives, no luck : /

There's a new AHCI controller driver that was released on the 6th, that might help some of the hard drive problems others are having. If you're running in ATA though I doubt it'll install.

I've had the hdd issue for some time but after updating the bios to A14, the nvidia chipset driver and the AHCI controller driver (all latest drivers), ALL IS WELL :D ! I have had no issues and the computer is actually running as it should have when I bought the damn thing like a year ago! Its been 1 week and absolutely no errors of any kind

thanks dell for the late but necessary fix!

    Oh p.s.
Forgot to mention that this is all on Win7 64bit SXPS1340

197.44 still doesn't fix HDMI audio. I'm really about to give up on the issue. Outdated, low end video cards...the fix isn't going to come.

For someone who is wondering about the new AHCI driver, first go to dell's driver download page. Then choose your operating system. Under the "chipset" category, you will see the new AHCI driver.

Their video driver packages usually include the newest HDMI driver. This pack installed the 1.0.9.1. From what I can tell, the problem isn't with the HDMI driver, it's the video driver thinking it's being connected to the TV via DVI (no audio) instead of HDMI (with audio).

Ah I see.. but assuming Dell's drivers have the same problem, you might need to bring to concern to them instead, since the chances of Nvidia fixing it are slim.

Also, has anyone installed the Dell Utility - System Software thing? I've never been able to figure out what its for or what it does..

If you know how, open up the bottom-plate and check that the cables are attached properly. If they are, then you need to call them again and tell them that they failed re-installing the antenna-cables from the new screen.
You should prob demand that someone finds his way to your home for that, sucks to send it in again.

This might be my last Dell. I've had nothing but good luck with Dell's in the past. I've had this system less than a year and the screen is starting to get scratched from being closed against the keyboard and the power cord is starting to bare coming out of the power brick. I've loved my system and have had nothing but good things to say until now. I have a two year warranty and plan on trying to get them to replace the screen and power brick.

Also, to top it off they stopped offering customization for a lot of their systems on their website.
