Looks like it shipped out this morning and they didn't bother to send me an e-mail. But since it shipped earlier than estimated, I am not too let down! Actually, the tracking number says it is currently in the US, so it may have shipped earlier but didn't hit the tracking system until today.

 

Received my original order of a XPS 17 with i5-460M yesterday. Unfortunately the hard drive and battery were faulty so called Dell support. They stated that they couldn't send out a technician at a time that was convenient to me so offered to replace the unit as quick as possible. I took this chance to upgrade to a XPS i7-740QM as I have now realised I need the extra power of the quad core. I paid up the difference and was told delivery would be in the next 10 to 12 days. Just recieved my order confirmation so I checked my order status. I have been given an EDD of 1st December. It took 4 weeks to delivery my original unit. Why such an early EDD? My original unit isnt due to be picked up for return until 3rd Decmeber.

By the way I have noticed that the GT 435m on my i5-460m was underclocked, is this how they are addressing the overheating palm rest?

The upgrade to FHD screen was 7K INR
So I thought its waste.

 

If it was 7K after taxes then it's pretty close to what folks pay in the state.. 130+10%tax = 143 * 45.8 = 6550.. (not taking into account purchasing power).. but if you dont need it - you dont' need it..

just checked on my system, first second and third orders canceled. last order was placed 11/24/10 with no EDD. I wish I knew. They did give me upgrades though, XPS 17 , i7 820, 1tb,8gb,lighted key board, free office. wi max 6250.
From what I can tell there is not much more I could have gotten. Who needs 12gb ram??!

I have been closely following XPS 15 forums and really tempted to buy the FHD for my XPS15.
I would be watching movies,videos,surfing and also I like playing games but I donot play graphic intensive/recent games.I am a medium to light gamer like NFS most wanted,carbon half life,left for dead(most of them are 2008/2009 games )
But I don’t understand what u guys are talking “playing games at native resolutions”.
Can I play my games in good settings(FHD settings)Please suggest whether FHD is worth it..??
@tejagamer…BTW DELL’s FHD is around INR 6287.10 (XPS 15) .I am shocked how u got it in INR 7K.taxes????really?? where you ordered..??
Do DELL really charge TAX apart from delivery charge.If yes then How much??Also its really shocking because on web they tell its MRP(inclusive of all taxes) + Delivery charges extra .

Native = think of it as the highest resolution your LCD supports .. this might not be technically correct definition but is practically true.

so for FHD it means gaming at 1080p.. you would need the 435M to be able to do that for the games you listed.. and the FHD is worth it @ 6200 Rs.

 

Can everyone on here make sure they say where they are from and what spec they have when posting about there current status/EDD. That way it gives everyone a better idea of what theirs maybe like....Thanks.

If it is Order Processing for that long and not In Production, then there could be an issue with the payment.

 

I ordered an XPS 15 in UK on Nov 24th and its also still in processing. I was told by a rep on the phone that Internet orders are taking around 90 to 100 hours ( I assume 4 to 5 business days) to reach and clear the accounts department before they will be released for build and that is why I guess my delivery date is set for 20th December. If what they say is true then I should see a change in status on mine by Wednesday. If I dont then may have to be another phone call to Dell !

 

see my details on earlier post,our EDD's differ by 10 days even though i ordered the same day. As more 15" models are seling than 17" i guess this is the reason. Mine went in production yesterday so i wouldn't worry about yours too much as it possibly could take upto 9 days yet to be delivered by 20th..

I want to cancel, not due to deliver date, but Non-responsive Salesperson.

 

For payments with in the country, it should not take more than 2 days. For international payments like I have done while ordering from the US, it took me only 3 days to process and to put in production. Check with ur bank if they received any request from Dell yet.

Upgrading from the laptop in my sig. The HD crashed on it. Decided to take the plunge for a new lappy even though I am gonna fix my 9300. It's still a work horse even today.

I ordered my XPS 15 in the blind through a salesman on the phone. Not the best way to do I know but, I didn't have any other way to get it done at the time. Hated not being able to see the prices for the upgrades and all. I still have no way to get online to configure a laptop on the Dell site. Posting this from my old Black Berry which doesn't render the full Dell site very well. Hope I didn't do to terrible with that price tag.

 

I got the one in my sig with the 2 year Completecare for $1575 after tax.

XPS 14 ordered 11/28. EDD 12/13, however the bundled Sony Camera was shipped out yesterday and EDD for 12/1. They even sent Fedex 2 day express even though I chose the 7 day free. Oh well, better for me.

Did the EDD change online or does it still say Dec. 13? And what kind of discount did you get to get the price so low?

 

Looks like ship date was 11/26 and EDD is December 1st - came a day early. I got a discount because I ordered it from the Army/Air Force Exchange Service website. Being military has a couple perks to it, I guess.
