My budget is 70k INR(thats around $1500).
i am a moderate gamer and i want it mainly for games like NFS shift, COD black ops and crysis, far cry 2 stuff.
please suggest if this config will suffice. should i go for a 6 GB or 8 GB RAM upgrade?
how much difference will it make if i choose core i7 840 QM processor which is costing around 27k more?

 

My XPS will arrive on 12/06/2010, I cant wait to open it and use it,

I have a doubt, I seen that many configurations include FHD screen and Backlit keyboard, but In Dell's Store Mexico I cant choose this options.

Somebody know why?

That's all I could find on the US store for the XPS 15 - you might see other things for other models/countries, etc.

 

Left the local Fedex facility, on the truck for delivery.

Algerad, when I ordered mine the 6300 wireless wasn't available - they just didn't have them.

 

Had I known when I ordered it on the first day they were made available that I had chosen the unholy combination of components that would guarantee I'd never get it, I may have chosen differently.

Mine was also delayed for quite awhile and I'm fairly certain it was because of the 6300. I'm expecting delivery today Dec 2, originally ordered October 29. Looks like they are finally getting through the backlog.

 

I ordered on the 11/25/2010 and was told to expect it to be shipped on 12/1/2010. The rep just emailed me telling me my system is delayed 2-3 days.

Hey guys.I have almost made up my mind and about to place an order in the next couple of days. I have a few more doubts so i would really appreciate if you could advice me a little more.

First of all, i wanted to know how much difference will a windows7 home premium and windows7 proffessional would make?coz i am getting an upgrade to proffessional in INR 3688(thats around $80)?

Secondly, they re giving me McAfee trial version for 30 days with my present config and offering an upgrade to 15 months for around $20 more and a dell recommended upgrade of 36 months for around $55. is it advisable to go for an upgrade in the anti virus?

And finally what kinda gameplay can i expect in games like COD Black Ops and NFS HotPursuit 2010 with this config?

Damn! Although mine was expected to be delivered today after it being marked as next business day yesterday, UPS now don't know when I'll get it because the snow has basically wrecked all parcel deliveries in the UK....!!!!

Can you guys confirm that I did indeed receive the correct display screen. Now when I ordered / configured my xps 15 I chose and paid for the display upgrade to be the:

15.6 FHD (1920x1080) B+RGLED display

But when I received my laptop yesterday, the Invoice said 15.6FHD TLF LCD L501X

I know I paid for the upgrade so I just wanted to make sure I got the right Display. Or am I looking at the wrong thing? How would I tell if I did get the right Display?

Yes, you got the right display; the 15.6 FHD (1920x1080) B+RGLED display is listed on the order/packing list and invoice as 15.6FHD TLF LCD L501X. The only available FHD dispaly with XPS 15 is the B+RG screen.

On 1st Dec Manufacturing Built Complete.
My EDD is 9th Dec

Just now got a mail from Dell Rep ,my shipment is in Transit from chennai and will be delivered by 4th. Checked with the Blue Dart also it shows the same status.
Now I am Excited ,after all talks and discussion's and reviews I was already impatient and now the excitement is killing me.

 

Just got an email.. EDD is 17th Jan 2011.. ugh!

 

Well after many delays much frustration and many emails, as well as getting very close to taking a depreciated refund – my machine is now built and has the arrow in ship from factory, EDD 13 Dec, I predict it will come earlier. Now lets see if they actually deliver the machine as per the order! Once I get it, and it's all as it should be then I'll be a bit happier. Still not impressed with all the Dell BS I had to go thorough, they need to communicate more with the people who keep them in a job that's fore sure... Lenovo next time I think if they tick all my boxes, which is unlikely

If any other manufacturer produced a LED 1080p lappy with backlit keyboard, media buttons and a large/extended battery then I'd be in the 'target market'!!

Not switched it on yet as it's **FREEZING** and want to wait for it to warm up to room temperature first to minimise any condensation issues!

SHIPPED! Original EDD was 12/13, shipped today and new EDD is 12/8 BUT Fedex tracking shows EDD as 12/4 (tomorrow). I think they ship from Georgia while im in Florida so it makes sense for it to be 1 day shipping.

 

Yes all XPS have bluetooth 3.0

Called Dell this morning again. Right after I read off my order number, either my phone dropped out or they hung up on me.

Was about to call them back when I got an e-mail saying my order was on hold because of the Intel 6300 and that it's no longer available. So I chose to replace it with the 6250... Who knows how long it will take now.

I'm pretty annoyed that it took them this long to tell me that it was on hold and that a part that I ordered on 10/21 isn't available now, despite other people here ordering the 6300 on later dates and getting theirs.

 

Ordered XPS 15 with the following configuration on 29th November 2010. Today it is showing as shipped but when I click on the tracking link, it is not being recognised by UPS. Does it take some time for the tracking information to go live on the UPS link?

Also, on average does anyone know how long after the status changes to shipped do custumers get their system?

 

In a few hours, it should show Billing Information Received then a few more Picked Up. Overnight should come Monday and Two Day Tuesday. If you got standard, then it will depend on the distance from the origin UPS location and your local location. Sometimes standard will come overnight if they are close enough to each other.

P.S: Oh, I just noticed the keyboard is UK/Irish. I'm not sure how long the European shipments take.

 

Just got my new EDD from my changed order replacing the 6300 with the 6250...

1/3/2011... That's almost a full 2 and a half months from when I ordered.

 

Got mine yesterday afternoon....its really fascinating experience

 

For UK roughly 4 working days. Mine shipped 2 days ago and went from shanghai to south korea,khasakstan,poland and now its just left Germany. My EDD is now Monday as they wont deliver weekends. You should get an e-mail shortly when UPS receive the package to let you know your new delivery date. Fingers crossed will be by end of next week. enjoy watching the tracking

 

Hi Mark, did your UPS link on the dell site not have any tracking info at first like mine? Everytime I click on the link from the dell order status page, the UPS site doesn't have any tracking info.

I am thinking maybe it takes a bit of time before the UPS site has the tracking info?

It did take a day before it showed on tracking and i recd e-mail from UPS. I guess you wont see anything till next working day (Monday), Like me unfortunately if you click on tracking every few hours it wont get there quicker but its hard to resist lol.

Im living in Peru so have to wait another 2 weeks until i go to the UK for Christmas but i guess the £500 price difference (crazy) was good enough reason to wait.

Curious about an issue I had with Dell today. Upon calling the order status hotline my order was said to be "shipped" only one major issue, The date that was stated isn't even here yet! "order received 11/27 ORDER SHIPPED 12/8????" any ideas as to what that means? Is it a glitch in the system or will they actually ship it 12/8? Thanks for any help

 

I spoke too soon, I didn't check my emails yesterday but dell had sent me an email yesterday with a delivery date of Monday 6th December.

The status at the top shows "exception" so not sure if it is going to be delayed?

What clearance would they be waiting for in Germany?

 

Cologne does this twice during the journey, i guess UPS may have a European headquarters there. Your package is either about or has left Shanghai so it will travel over night today and I guess will arrive Sunday evening for transport to you on Monday. Good news i thought you would not get till mid week. I don't know what exception is.

Wireless cards and of course the 1080 screen have been delaying orders (see oher posts). Only Dell can properly answer your question though.

 

Do you reckon if I remove the TV Tuner from my order, it will arrive sooner?

The best that I can find out is that it was held up for the 1080p screen.
