So, Dell has been giving me some shady business... They pushed my delievery date back by 21 days to the 23 of December, then when I called on Thursday the lady said that according to what she saw the order was already shipped. Today, Saturday, I got an e-mail saying it was shipped but when I check the Dell status page it says Bill to: N/A and Ship to: N/A. The tracking number provided also doesn't seem to exist according to UPS or whoever it is that ships it.
Anyone having something similar? Or is it just me with this bizarre delivery business? I just want my computer! Also, my card had the charge for the computer as pending but it has now doubled since I received that e-mail, which leads me to believe Dell pushed it through twice because I haven't spent that kind of money in the past two days... Everything with the bank was cleared for the purchase as well...
-
-
I'm guessing you show as 2 amounts both pending now as Dell dont normally take any money out till its almost delivered? If this is the case then no need to worry as 1 will be returned (normally after 7 days with most banks).
There isn't much you can do till Monday and you may find when you check then that things have updated but if not obviously all you can do is contact Dell to sort it out.
Sorry I would use my crystal ball to help you more but unfortunately the battery is only good for 2 hours and the palm rest is getting a bit too hot

Just wanted to give a follow-up about my new XPS 17, L701X laptop.
Everything seems to be fine... except for the Audio... I know it's a laptop.. but Dell Rave's on their Webpage about the fantastic Audio and how well the Bass is. Well... mine is not that great. The audio through the regular laptop speakers is not tinny... but doesn't hardly have any bass to it at all. I tried plugging in a set of head phones and you can't get any bass out of it at all. Geezzz... a pair of headphones should give you a little bass at least. I went in to the audio settings and played with the settings. There is a place to pump up the base with a slider bar setting... and sliding it to FULL ON didn't really work at all. Maybe there is a driver issue or something... but right now... I'm not a happy camper. I hope others will add their comments about the audio if they are having any issues. Hopefully someone that may be thinking about purchasing this laptop may think otherwise. I know the purpose of a laptop is not really supposed to be a huge audio system... but geez... you should be able to listen to some good jams/CD's with decent bass with a pair of headphones plugged into the laptop. -
I believe the "rave" about the audio system was about the audio syst coming through the speakers on the laptop it's self. Your earphones are the issue I believe, as no matter how good your system is through the laptop it's self all of that means nothing once you plug in a headset. If I'm understanding you correctly your complaint is about the sound quality through a set of headphones? I am almost 100% positive that the jbl system in no way jape or form can help head phone quality.
-
He could be complaining about the JBL speakers as well if he deletes the negation before "hardly". I am very glad that I didn't see this post before purchasing my XPS 15; I am very impressionable when it comes to technology purchases.
-

I should have delivery of it tomorrow....not bad considerig I ordered it on 29/11/10. -
Can anyone pls help me?
-
I'll take a bold guess and say it means it's been shipped and on its way to delivery.
-
Right, but it's just everything else is also weird... The fact that the billing and shipping info just says N/A, the fact that when I called they told me it was being delivered according to their system but didn't get anything from until 3 days later, the drastic changes with delivery dates...
I knew they were having problems but my order seems to be a mess! -
Mine just shipped - previous estimated delivery date was 12/22/2010.
Shipped Date: 12/4/2010
Estimated Delivery Date: 12/7/2010 -
I know its frustrating but no one here can give you an answer. Even if someone else shows as n/a i wouldn't want to assume its the same reason. Phone Dell Monday and pleasantly ask what the problem is and tell them its very important you know when to expect delivery as you need to make arrangements to be available. If the person on the phone doesn't give you a precise answer ask to speak to a manager. I've been a Manager for similar phone teams like Dell and to be honest many staff will say anything to get you off the phone as they are marked against call times and numbers of calls a day more than customer service. (It really is pot luck who you get)
-
Exact same specs, same price.
Ordered 12/5 EDD 12/31 -
WTH???
Order status show "delivered" but I don't have the XPS, I called and I was waiting 20 minutes without response, now do not know about my XPS
please tell me your experience with XPS, is good enough? -
hello, am new to the forum
placed an order for a xps 17 on the 25th Nov, the EDD placed by dell originally was 14th of December.
however, i was getting the delivery today (8 days before original EDD) but i canceled it because i changed my mind. the system i ordered had no blu-ray player, but i want one now lol ;p
called dell to tell them this and return the laptop (before actually recieving it) and they contacted UPS to cancel the delivery and save me the £20 return fee! which is great news
i'll get my full refund once they have recieved the laptop
i'll be placing an order for the same system i was gettin but with the blu-ray & dvd+/-rw combo drive using a 10% off voucher which will cost £2 less than my original price of £854
cant wait! -
Glad to hear that, sounds like the same spec as mine (i7,740,4gb,500gb,455,9 cell,bd drive) which is also being delivered today, The 10% off is good it basically means you get a free blue ray drive. Considering what most people are like when waiting for new gadgets it must have taken a lot of strength to cancel and have to wait again.
-
Order placed : 19th Nov
Was in production till yesterday.
Today : order cancelled.
Location : India
I mean W T F? Without any reason? -
What specs?
-
Till Friday, the Dell rep. told me that my XPS 15 would ship today (12/06). He, however, e-mailed me ealier about some back orders that might delay the shipping of the notebook.
This is a replacement for an XPS 15 (which I have returned because it didn't close properly). -
Haha you bet it did! But I decided it would be best
And yeah, that's my specs as well
Just hope the the new one ships as fast as my first one
I'll be ordering later today. N congratz on your purchase
-
Supposedly mine was going to be ETA of the 14th of December. Now, it's been updated to the 8th. So hopefully by Wednesday I'll get to see how the XPS 15 L501X truly is.
-
Mine was Dec 13th. Updated to Dec 8th and I got a fedex tracking number on the 2nd. All Fedex says is "Shipment information sent to Fedex"
I wish they never provided the tracking number. I check it every 5 minutes even though I am to receive an email notification. -
I agree with this. Mine is supposedly being delivered tomorrow, and yet all the tracking info says is "Shipment information sent to FedEx". I cleared my calendar for tomorrow so that I could be home to accept delivery, but now I'm thinking that was foolish of me. There's no way it gets here tomorrow.
It's almost funny that the " Anticipated Ship Date" is 12/2/2010. It's like we're in a time warp. -
Received my XPS15 today. Ordered 29/11/10 and received today on 06/12/10.
Thats really good going in my books.
Just been transferring stuff over from my external hard drive and briefly played a bluray of transformers and the picture quality on the 1080P screen is simply jaw dropping.
For anyone in doubt about the FHD screen, if you can afford it I would definitely purchase it as it is in a league of it's own.
The speakers are amazing too and the best speakers I have heard on a laptop by far.
Mine is an Core i5 and it is very snappy bearing in mind that I am moving from an XPS M1330 Core 2 Duo.
Have to say that I am so glad to have bought this machine especially with the FHD display.
Now to sell my XPS M1330.
-
I wandered whether you would appear here today or whether you would be too busy playing with it. Mine came as well although as I said i will have to wait a few weeks to see mine. enjoy
-
same thing happened to me, Fedex doesnt even have the package yet to the EDD of Fedex is wrong, go with the EDD on Dell. Fedex just guesses the EDD based on when they receive the package, but ony Dell knows when Fedex will receive it
-
That's what is odd - EDD on Dell's site is 12/7/2010 (it was originally 12/22/2010)...
I'll look for it tomorrow, but I'm not going to be surprised if/when the EDD on Dell's site changes to 12/12/2010 or something. -
Where does peoples computers get picked up from? when they go out for delivery? Mine says Hawthorne CA. I'm confused. I thought they were built in tx?
-
fedex just updated to show it arrived in Chicago! Estimated delivery date of 12/8. Sweet.
-
They are built in China and shipped to the US. My XPS has a made in China sticker. Hawthorne is next to the Los Angeles airport (LAX). Mine was also FedExed from there although I live near San Jose.
-
The last 5 Dell laptops that I purchased were all built in Malaysia and flown to Nashville, TN and shipped from there. Great for me because I live in TN
-
Built in China? Is there anything they don't build. It would be nice if Dell still built laptops in Tx or even US, but then we wouldn't be able to afford them.
-
Theyre processed in Texas (according to Dell rep) but I believe they have stations all over the nation, and it gets sent to the one closest to you, and then from there it gets sent to you. Im in florida and it was sent from Georgia. But the return labels always say Tennessee
-
I would pay more to get built in US. I hate the fact a lot of my stuff is made in China.
I would happily, without-a-doubt pay more, even if that meant I could afford fewer things. -
Below is my order that was placed on Nov-19th. EDD was 17th Dec and was in production till day before yesterday. I was informed by the rep forst that it will be delivered by Dec-6th and then by Dec-10th. But yesterday the order status says canceled
No intimation to me and no reasoning specified for cancellation.
Please advise me how do I deal with Dell on this

Its probably the 1080 screen as they have been unable to keep up with demands. In the US it now states the 1080 may delay your order, in other countries they don't even let you choose the option. Phone them to clarify the position as it should not be cancelled completely. You may just have to wait now and get the 1080 config in January or choose something different. Depending how much you want the 1080 (its meant to be very good) If you decide you don't mind changing the screen make sure they make it worth your while for all the trouble this has caused especially as it was expected as a Christmas present for someone.
This is what i am guessing but i may be completely wrong so phone them asap. -
Yeah was too engrossed in it yesterday to appear on here.
What spec is yours? I am loving the FHD screen.
-
I didn't want FHD as i have external monitors and tv's I use it on for gaming and multimedia so I went for the 17"(1600x900) i7 740,GT445,4GB,Blueray,9 cell. Shame couldn't have the complete package with FHD though.
So no problems then? I've had to send my parents a list of things to check to make sure its ok, not the most reliable way but I am only back in Uk for 2 weeks so wont have time to change it myself. -
I just spoke with Dell's order support. After being on hold for a total of 27 minutes, they advised me that the EDD on their site (12/7 - today) was wrong, and that I should expect it on or before 12/14 instead. Very frustrating, even though my original EDD was 12/22. They're all over the board.
The guy claims that the laptop was picked up on 12/4 by FedEx, but I don't believe that for a second. -
Does it list a tracking number yet?
-
I called Dell's order support, and after being on hold for a total of 30 minutes, they told me that the EDD it was 12/6 (yesterday) and he said that they don't provide a guide tracking number, W T F? I want to receive my XPS I'm so angry with that....
-
No tracking number? What country are you in? They have to have some sort of proof of delivery...
-
I've had a tracking number for 5 days now - and all it said was that the information had been received by FedEx.
Incidentally, the FedEx site has just been updated, and now it says the laptop will be here tomorrow. Ship date 12/7/2010, EDD 12/8/2010.
Just bizarre.
-
Ordered my XPS 15`on 2 December. Initial shipping date 23 December.
Just checked the status on the Dell site and FEDEX will deliver it tomorrow, 8 December! (in Maryland, USA)
640 Gig hard drive
Basic 720p screen
420M w/TV video card
Bluetooth
backlit display
Everything else standard, basic, default options.
btw, I confirmed with Dell chat and the Intel site that the XPS 15 works with Intel Wireless Display, even with the default Wireless-N 1000 card. (Intel recently updated their driver/software and it now supports the Wireless-N 1000. Dell's XPS Setup Guide is out of date and doesn't say this yet) -
I am very worried because my XPS 15 has shipped from Nashville, TN. I live in California and I am having this notebook as an exchange for a defective XPS 15 that I returned to Dell in Nashville, TN.
The defective notebook was delivered in Nashville on 12/06.
Could I be receiving the same or another refurbished notebook?
