I am really surprise that Europe and the US get there stuff quite fast, while order regions have to wait quite a while. XD Actually....I am not. Those regions have better postal office and custom service.

Tomorrow it will be 2 weeks since XPS went into production!! And they said it will be ready on the 19th (three weeks!!), and then other 3 weeks trip with an EDD of Dec. 7.

 

I guess we take it for granted...sorry for your wait.

their edd definitely going to fail in my case. edd is 18th and it is still in work in progress and its friday!

 

MY EDD is 17th and they are in Work in Progress still

when did you order? i dont think you will get it on time [unless you are from uk or usa!!!]
13/14 are sat/sun. so if yours is still in 'wip', to get shipped it will take at least 1 day. which means 15th. i am not sure if it can travel from china/malaysia that fast!

 

HURRAY! I just called Dell by-phone order management system and it said that my order was shipped today, arriving to me on Monday 15th!!!

Whereas online status check still says 'in production'

So I believe your laptop might be with you by Monday!

Ordered on 10/27 and EDD is 11/22. Seems a bit long and I am getting a little obsessed with checking my status... I must stop.

Quick Question for everyone: What is the max speed of the ethernet port? The site says gigabit but my order confirmation says otherwise...

So I called that number to check mine too, and it literally said "Shipped December 2nd".
I think it is preprogrammed to say to ship whenever it is estimated.

 

When I called, it said its going to ship november 12th, with an edd of the 15th. I got mine the 11th.

 

That's strange... anyway - if I don't get it by Monday I will place a call to 'alive' operator

 

well, it seems they might be out of stock of the Geforce GT 420M, right know it says that it may delay the shipment... =/

hmm, its true. they didnt update the status frequently. at least delayed 1 day.
2nd step is the killing step[i am stuck for almost 2 wks!], you will get it within couple of working days!

I know you ordered yours the same day as me....mine still shows in production even though edd is monday. *sigh* I wish there were more versions of "in production"...something like assembly, QC, software install and check, then shipped.

how about 'waiting for total of x components', 'x1,x2... received','sent to assembly line','assembled hardware','sent to the qc dept', 'performing qc', 'installing sw', 'gathering all accessories', 'sent to the packaging dept', 'packing complete' .... instead of manufacturing built completed!

I can't talk for big biz like Dell but in the small biz's I work for, we over communicate as a rule of thumb. I'm not talking about tweeting every part that is installed. Just daily or bi weekly auto email update, it keeps the customer in the loop and keeps them off of message boards *****ing about the company=)

Is it just me or is everyone also getting "temporarily unavailable" message on their order status web page?

 

Mine shipped yesterday and I got this message in the email update they sent me. So maybe it means yours has shipped...

i also have my EDD on Dec 2nd, but still under production.

Did anyone get theirs shipped with a EDD date similar to mine?

My XPS 15 wasn't supposed to ship until Dec 2nd, it just changed to shipped status.
Dangit, that means it will get here before my anesthesia final, not good.
Edit: Delivering Nov 17th (Original EDD Dec 7).

it says on the link (order status) from the email they send me, on top there are 3 boxes: information of the order, information of the bill and information of the shipment.
in the last one says the shipment and the delivery date...don't your's?

it says something like this:

i think its based on the region. in the order status website of dell aus, i didnt find anything similar like yours!

Good call ordering it later, but I ordered mine on Nov 4th with the same thought process as yours, and mine shipped almost 3 weeks early. So I think you'll probably be in the same boat as me in getting it earlier than you need/want it.

Edit: Oh, and I don't know about your school, but 90% of my classmates (and the rest of the school (Georgetown) for that matter) all use 13" Macbook Pros. It will be nice having a different machine that you know will absolutely run circles around a Mac.

 

This. Haha. Most of my classmates use a MacBook Pro 13" / 15" as well (Communication & Multimedia Design). I just wanted something different and.. faster.

 

I wouldnt go in enough to know what everyone else uses haha

 

I ordered on Friday, November 12, 2010, and the estimated delivery date is Wednesday, December 8, 2010, but I hope it comes before my birthday on the second. The specs are in my signature.

 

Awesome! Hopefully that means mine will come a lot sooner than Dec 8. You'll just have to find somewhere to lock yours down until after exams.
