Could anyone who ordered a 17 that has shipped please post their order date, estimated delivery date, and actual ship date, please? Thanks.

 

Dell needs a laptop tracker website like Domino's pizza tracker site.

 

Weird, my 17 shows Integrated 10/100/1000 Network Card.

 

Ive got a favor to ask another US customer(only because of the # not sure if its global) whos order is shown as "in production"
call the automated order number 1-800-433-9014 and post what stage they classify your order as.

on the website my orders been in production for 3 weeks, on the phone it says "your order is currently being processed" im wondering if something got F'd up or if the phone version is just less precise. thanks!

I am in the same boat with you: on the website my order has been in production for a week, but on the phone it says "your order is currently being processed". I just emailed the Dell rep. who took my order to explain this discrepancy to me. I'll let you know if he gets back to me.

I think that's how it is. Mine's been "in production" since 2nd of Nov. and on the call it still says "in process"... hope nothing's wrong with it

 

I just got the e-mail yesterday saying it's been shipped!!!

Order date was 28th Oct, EDD was 22nd Nov. Shipping date was 13th Nov, should be here sometime during the week. I'm SOOOO anxious!!

To those who ordered from US Dell:

Is there a place where i can check the "ship date?" I see ppl talking about my ship date is on the xx.xx. I have nvr seen such info posted on order status....

 

When it gets shipped, you'll get an e-mail from dell. The dell website still hasn't updated to shipped for me yet, even though I've received the shipped e-mail over a day ago.

 

that is true, they take at least 1 day to update the status.

however, i didnt get either email or status update though my edd is 18th of nov (not shipping date!). i emailed them 3 times with same reply, 'parts shortage' or 'in production'. they dont even bother to specify the reason.

i guess, this is a template for them , for kind 1, reply template 51, for kind 3, reply template 65....

1 month to get it, whereas some guys are so lucky that they get it within 2 weeks!!! i just add the tv tuner nothing else...

Woo! The site updated to shipped. Purolator is shipping it. Their online tracking service couldn't give me any info, so I called. The machine couldn't either, it forwarded me to a customer support agent. He told me once the machine crosses the US-Canada border it should take ~2-3 days. Once it reaches Toronto, should be here the next day. His estimate was ~thursday. That's pretty good news! My EDD is the 22nd, so anything earlier is great

Specs: 1080p, i5 460m, nVidia 420m, 4GB RAM, backlit, 9-cell, 640GB HDD.

 

Didn't have time to post here during the weekends.

I've got my XPS 15 actually on Saturday (11/13/2010). And upon having it in my hands I've got the mail from Dell telling (what a surprise!!) that my order has been shipped :-D .

Now moving to the next thread.

 

I ordered an XPS 15 on 10/21 (the first day they were available I believe) from the standard US site, and my original EDD was 11/17. A few days ago I got an e-mail saying it had been pushed back to 12/9. Here's my configuration:

i7 740QM
8 GB DDR3
GT 435M
1080p B+RG display
9-cell battery
640 GB, 7200 RPM hard drive
Intel 6300 Wifi adapter
Bluetooth 3.0 adapter
Backlit keyboard

I called up Dell to ask about the delay, and the only info they would give me was that some part was holding up the order. I asked a corporate Dell rep I know if he could look it up for me, and from what he was able to see, the hard drive was what was holding it up. However, he said he could only see the parts in the configuration that were common parts between Dell Home and Dell Business, so he said it's possible some other part could be holding it up as well.

Well I hope that they at least build it properly for the 6300 and it has 3 antennas in the chassis.

smth just happened. I'm getting a "delivery preparation" message on the order status page!! This is good right? But then when I click the order number it says "in production" hmmmmm i hope this is good news

 

Delivery Prep sounds like a good substatus to me next to shipped and delivered.

 

Yeah for me, when it hit delivery preperation, the whole dell site bugged out. Sometimes the order was there, sometimes it wasn't. Elsewhere it still said In Production. Then I check my e-mail a little while later and they sent the e-mail confirming it had been shipped. So, definately good news.

 

Im also wondering about this, anyone receive a xps with the 6300 wireless card? My order has been stuck in production for 2 weeks and I configured it with the 6300 card. If I call Dell and change to the 6200, will they have to cancel the order?

 

yeah i once ordered a studio 14 with some configuration i wanted to change. It was only about 3~4 days since my placement, but I had to cancel and reorder the system to change the configuration.

 

wow Dell just called me (yes they actually called me in person) that my order is being shipped in the next 24 hours. Oh boy I have 3 mid terms this week. I shouldn't open it till the weekend comes...

 

My l501 finally got into production, for the third time, but now this is it! EDD: Dec 2nd!!

I upgraded from 720p to 1080p, but before that, Dell had cancelled my order due to some "internal issues" (sounds like out ofs stock to me); anyway, my very first order took place on October 22nd!! I`m paying with credit card, so i starter paying for my XPS On november, and still don`t have it hehe!

But i really don`t mind how much i`ll have to wait, here in Argentina there isn`t any laptop in this price that can be compared to this.

I originally placed my order for a XPS 15 on Nov 1st and my EDD is Nov 26th.

I just called Dell to see if they could give me an update on my order and spoke to a very nice customer service rep. It turns out that the delay is with the keyboards and apparently all the backlit keyboards are on backorder. The next shipment should be here in 8-10 days (knock on wood).

In a nutshell, if you ordered a XPS 15 with an backlit keyboard you probably won't get past the "In Production" stage for another week and a half.

Sucks to be us.

After waiting too long to hear from him, I called the Dell customer rep. He told me that he had received my e-mail but he couldn’t respond to it because he had a very busy morning. He took my order info. and promised to call me back in a few minutes. 20 minutes later, he called to confirm that my order was in production, contrary to what the phone system message. He also informed me that he had expedited my order. However, when I checked the status of my order, I found the EDD has been pushed a week back . I then e-mailed him lamenting my request for help for him.

Moral of the story: If you have a US order and the Order Stsus web page states that it is in production and the phone system statest that it is being processed, do not call those mediocre Dell reps to check which system is more credible; they can screw things up for you.

Yeah mine shipped from Georgia according to Fed Ex. I'm not sure how that worked as I doubt Dell has a manufacturing plant in Georgia, but it got here the next day.

 

They ship LTL via air from China to local distro centers.
I'm willing to bet the east coasters get theirs out of NJ, since mine is sitting in that FedEx facility right now as well.

 

I believe they build it from another country ship it by plane, and then start the delivery update status.. at least it was like that last time I ordered
