Yeah, it's going to be delayed. Mine was suppose to be here this week and it was still in production. Call them now and they may upgrade your model for the same price. If they don't offer it, then say you need some compensation for the delay or you're going to cancel your order and buy a Surface/Mac instead.

I called them and they told me they ran out of 8GB RAM (....how is this possible?) so they had to delay my order. Fortunately, I'm going to get an amazing deal because of Dell's incompetence.

I don't want to say too much until it ships, but basically:
    I7
    8GB RAM --> 16GB RAM
    1080p --> 4k

For the same price. Ram upgrade was intended, I'm positive the screen wasn't. The rep desperately wanted me to keep my order after they told me about the delay.

It's sad that so many people are having problems getting this laptop (delays and random order cancels with no explanation) when I can easily get pretty much any configuration Suface, Macbook, or any other company's laptop in less than a week. They're so lucky there isn't a real competitor to the XPS 15 in it's price range right now. Lightweight, 960m or better, doesn't look like a toy (aka most gaming laptops), good display, good battery life, and good price.

Just got pushed to 1/19/2016. Not sure how I feel about that. Unless they can sweeten things up for me I am going to cancel.

    i7/UHD/512 SSD
    Ordered Oct. 14, 2015
    ETA Nov. 20, 2015
    New Eta. Jan 6 2016
Was told to cancel and reorder on Nov. 30
    New Eta Dec 21 2015

The only thing different between the 2 orders I could see was 631-AAVH in the new order and 631-AAVX in the old order.

Yes I was told to re-order as well because of the back order on the FHD panels was the hold up.. Now my delivery date is way back till Jan 14-2016.. Original was DEC 18.. Talked to sales and they said their is no way they can upgrade me to a 4k display for the same price!

I paid using my dell preferred account. As long as they can push back my first payment to when my laptop actually ships i'll gladly keep the laptop. I just don't see how it's fair to make my first payment on a laptop that's not even in made haha.

I ordered my XPS 15 on Oct. 30th and it still shows Dec. 17th as the estimated date. However the laptop isn't even in production yet. Do you think ther is any way that the Computer can still make its way to switzerland by the 17th? I am going to be gone for a few weeks after that so i desperately need the laptop by then.

I would give dell a call and ask about that. Maybe if you tell them you'll be gone after that they can expedite it for you.
Mine has been "in production" for a month now, and my delivery date just got moved from the 7th of December to the 17th. Who knows when it will really ship though.

Still nothing for me either currently been sitting at "DEPARTED MANU FACILITY" for 10 days...

Call Dell and all I get is "Oh it will arrive with the carrier soon, hopefully you will get it by the 9th" bearing in mind I called them last Thursday and they said it would arrive today. Honestly this is the worst ordering process I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with, Dell are charging Apple prices and offering a Tomy level of service.

Are their any reps that use this forum from Dell?

How do they just 'cancel' an order without any explanation? That's crazy.

I was hoping to order a 1080p/i7 9550 before new years since I'll be traveling to Texas for a 3 month TDY where I'll use the laptop extensively, but looks like I will just wait till I get back to order, hopefully the supply issues and any teething hardware problems (I figure they are mostly fixed/user fixed after reading the thread) are sorted.

Hah yeah that's what I thought. To add icing to the cake after being on hold for 1.5 hours to figure out why, dell answers the phone and says "I'm sorry we are now closed, call back tomorrow." Not bad right? I mean what's 1.5 hours when you have 24 in a day...
Sucks you won't have a laptop for your TDY. Military I take it?

Yeah it's the same for me...
Was supposed to receive it on Dec 1 and then it got pushed to Dec 11 and now cancelled, and my Dell account manager can't even tell me what's going on or whether I will receive my laptop or not...

I just want my money back. I found reseller who got XPS in stock, even cheaper then Dell. For now I can't do that because Dell don't know if my order is in production or not. I am on mail cc with someone closer to factory and waiting for response. I don't get my hopes to high.

I am stuck. Funny the i7 configs are for home and for bussines and the difference is M.2 and PCIe SSD, other than OS Home and Pro. Other funny thing is that i can't access the product page on dell site to compare or get info.

Alright after another hour on the phone with Dell (thankfully I have tons of extra time as a medical student ), they told me that they had to cancel and re-order because there is a software update that has to be applied to new XPS builds. They also told me that there was a delay for the FHD screens, but they received a large shipment and that is no longer an issue. I hope she was right on both cases, I would love to get this XPS before next semester starts.

So I contacted Dell on Twitter and they told me my order was part of a batch of orders that were cancelled "by mistake" and they are busy creating a new order for me.
The Dell twitter guy told me that I should receive my order shortly after it's created again...

My order was canceled without notice as well. I'm purchasing through my employer and had a purchase order processed on Nov 17th. For the past week and a half the system has been listed as 'in production' then last night it was 'canceled'. Called our personal rep this morning but she couldn't figure out what happened either, as no cancel code was attached to the order for clarification.

She said a new order would -not- be created automatically so she is re-processing my order from scratch using the old P.O. Obviously not happy about the situation as I'm now at the bottom of the order pool again and wont have the system before the holidays. It's extra frustrating considering the local Microsoft store has had the same model in stock for the past month and a half - if I weren't getting a better price through work I'd just buy it there.

Well i'm glad dell CS helped you guys out. The person I talked to was utterly useless..

I placed my FIRST order on 11/8/2015, it gets canceled and I got it re-ordered by the 11th. December 3rd, my re-order gets canceled and another re-order was done by Dell this time. Okay, whatever.... December 8th, the order never gets out of Order Processing so I contacted dell and the rep tells me this... (note both my two previous orders reached the "In-Production" stage.)

"I see that your order is on Hold due to pending payment authorization. Please speak to your bank first and then contact our credit cards order processing team."

What the...?!?! What?!?! I am just furious as to how they can tell me I have pending payment authorization. YOU, DELL CANCELED MY ORDER! The one that went into production, did you guys not remember?! Rep then tries to feed me lies about how Dell sends out emails notifying of a cancellation or payment issues. Not ONCE did I receive an email from these liars.. I even told the rep that I was never notified about the cancellation, both times and had to find out each time by logging into my dell account and clicking on "my orders".

In the end I just give up trying to talk to them since they don't understand English and the rep ends it with this.

"I know, as a customer you expect the best service. Unfortunately, your order is not through."

I am done with dell and won't be dealing with them ever again. Dell really does ask for apple premium prices and offer horrendous customer support. I have nothing against any race nor human being, but every time I call dell (even years ago) I always get someone I barely understand.. I mean come on....

Dang, sounds like quite the pain, I don't blame you for being done with them. I had to call a few times to get someone who knew what they were doing. I called 1-800-247-2076 to reach customer care where they could actually do something for me. The previous tech wanted to re-order the laptop, but couldn't apply my discount because it was previously used (on the canceled laptop), he wouldn't budge and was mad that I didn't want to re-order for a higher price. My only guess is someone high up at dell likes to listen to the recordings of their "customer support" pissing people off.

Yep, and in medical if you can guess from the san antonio TDY. I won't really be without a laptop...I mean this 5 year old (refurbished too! Lol) laptop is still ticking, it just shuts down at high temps when playing civ 5 late game (and that started 2 years ago even with reapplication of thermal paste). Slow as hell to start and resume and all that of course.

I saw you were in med school, good luck with that. We (the tooth fairies) used to joke because we have even less time than you in school because of lab time in addition to all the classes and clinicals, but you guys usually pay in the back end with residency. You at the .mil school or civ?

Coincidentally, I'm currently at grp up here where the sun don't shine. You a prior 18D?

Wish we had a reseller in the states that had it in stock. MS store has them and had a sale, I was willing to pay the extra $100 compared to the dell site, but didn't want the 4k screen.

I could trade US Dell service for our EU service. Now it's like 48h and Dell still don't know what is happening with my order. EDD stopped yesterday. And I can't even cancel since Dell doesn't know if my order is in production of not. Sometimes I think it's just a bad dream and I will wake up in a moment.
And I am 100% sure I will not get even 10$ off for such a ******** service. Not to mention it's like 50th days from order.

So...does anyone else have an "allocation hold" on their order? I talked to multiple reps and they're saying there's a LCD problem and it might cause (ANOTHER) delay. It's suppose to be here by December 17-18th and now I might not even get it before Christmas. I can't believe it's going to take me 2 months of back and forth to get this laptop. Why can't Dell be as competent as Microsoft/Apple/or any other company that makes laptops? They're so ****ing lucky there isn't a competitor that has all of the pros the XPS 15 has.

I ordered a FHD, I7, 16GB, 512GB SSD model on 11-17-15 with an initial delivery date of 12-8-15. On 12-1-15 it went into the production status. On 12-4-15 they changed delivery to 12-15-15. Today I check the order status thinking that it will have to ship soon to make the 12-15-15 date and see that they canceled it on 12-7-15 re-created with a new delivery date of 1-6-15. No notice, no nothing. Will call tomorrow and see if they have a different story to tell then what I am reading here. If the hold is to fix some of the issues I've been ready about I can't complain too much. The lack of communication is the real frustrating part.

Consider yourself lucky, after begging for information at Dell, it appears that my order of October 27 will only be delivered mid-january. Reason is, it got cancelled by Dell by mistake and they are just now creating a new one without setting up some kind of "high priority" on it.
Never ever seen such a bad customer service from any company I've dealt with.

Well mine has gone into pre-production (maybe they are getting good at the whole cancel re-order thing) but getting someone on the phone is, well, just don't have any expectations that you'll get a rep in under 90mins. TIP: make sure there are no sharp objects in the room with you when you start the process, that way you won't have anything within reach to jam into you eye in frustration.

I got to talk to three "operators" that took my information again and again and told me they would get me to the correct person if I could just hold on for a couple of minutes. Of course then you hear the "we are experiencing extremely high call volumes because we suck, the current wait time is 15 minutes." message. I decided to do the live chat at the same time thinking it would be faster and got the dreaded "we are experiencing extremely high chat volumes because we really suck, you are currently number 270 in the queue". In the end I transferred the call from my work phone to my cell phone for the ride home and ended up dropping the call in a bad service area (had a 50/50 chance of making it through and keeping the call).

I'm going to try again tomorrow first thing in the morning so I can be on hold for 8 hours, and then I think I may just give up and go in another direction, or call my business account rep and see if I can get in that way. It just amazes me how bad Dell is on the home side and how good they are on the business side (we use Dell for server/storage/PCs/laptops). Of course you treat a business customer like this and they go somewhere else pretty fast.

FINALLY! My order just shipped and it's arriving on Monday!!

    My config: 4k, i7, 16GB RAM, and 256GB SSD for....$1200 + tax.

How? I price matched a similar spec'ed Lenovo Y700 and was offered $1200 + tax for the 1080p, i7, 8GB RAM, and 256 SSD config. After my order was delayed, a rep said they ran out of 8GB RAM (how is this possible???) and he said he could upgrade my RAM to 16GB and give me free next day shipping if I kept my order, so I accepted the offer. It seems like he accidentally selected the 4k screen when he was placing my new order. It told me almost 2 months to get this laptop, but I stopped complaining after I got an amazing deal because Dell screwed up again.

Hah sounds like you got quite the deal. When I called and asked if there was anything I could do to speed up my order they told me that I could cancel and re-order a 4k screen but I wouldn't get my discount. Doh...

I just placed an order this afternoon, the EST. Delivery date is Jan 4th.

I ordered the i7 cpu, 1080p, 8G, 256SSD, 3yrs Premium Support, the total price is 1600. Is it a good deal? I am attempting to cancel it due to all the negative comments on this forum.

Hah your EST delivery is before mine. I can't really advise you on keeping it or not, the good thing with dell is you can return it if you don't like it. I wish there was something comparable though, I'd probably go that route instead.

I also ordered a T450s as well, it is a i7, 8G, 256SSD, HD5500. One thing for sure, Thinkpad has much better durability than xps, the keyboard is also much better. And more important, I got it for 910 dollars.

Finally got through today, only took and hour on hold. While I was on hold I checked the status of the new order and it was in production. Once I got on with a rep I was told there was a part shortage that cause the order to be canceled, and that the part shortage was fixed so Dell put the order back in the same day. The explanation doesn't seem worth the two and a half hours of hold time. I also complained about the new delivery date of Jan 6th and was told it should actually be delivered sometime next week. Not holding my breath at this point.

Giving it another shot this time. Estimated delivery date is the 31st.

I can't find anything as good looking/cheap as my configuration so here goes more waiting.

I'm in the same boat. Nothing is as small of a form factor with the dedicated GPU and quad core for the same price. My estimated delivery date is the 6th, but I wouldn't be sad if it shipped sooner...

    Yea :/

Delivery date moved up to the 29th, knowing Dell I highly doubt it but maybe they can make me a believer again. I remember buying a U2412M from them back them, got that sucker in two days.

So finally some progress. My order status shows up as shipped now (4k, i7, 512gb ssd). It has been in pre-production for more than a month and less than 4 days after I contacted @DellCares it is shipped. So that really seems to make a difference.
Can anyone tell me how long it usually takes from shipping to delivery (I am in Switzerland)? I really need the laptop on or before the 18th and I took a gamble not cancelling the order. I hope it works out.

Hey at least your delivery date is moving in the right direction. Mine still says the 6th, I would love to get it sooner so I could sell my gf's macbook pro and give her my inspiron before next semester starts.

I still don't know if and when I will receive this f* xps 15...
Ordered on October 27 for delivery on December 1st, ffs...
I'm being told by DellCares that a new order should be delivered to me mid-January instead but they won't even give me the new order number!
How does it mean that Dell actually cares about customers??

Hey I ordered the same setup via the Dell website ... long story short, I cancelled and ordered via Digitec (3 to 5 days delivery) ,I'm in Switzerland too.
To answer your question since i had several talks with Dell sell rep, it takes between 7 to 10 days from China to Dell factory in CH then it should take 1/2 days then to your door. That's what they told me.
