Do the consumer versions of this (the only ones with 16GB of RAM) come with a TPM chip?

Dang, that's a pretty good deal. Thankfully the 10% student discount at the microsoft store doesn't make me feel too bad about the price.

Received my non-touch 9350 today and have already requested an RMA. The touchpad is atrocious. I have had many laptops over the years, including Dells, and this has the worst touchpad - lag and poor scrolling (even in Edge). Have tried adjusting all the W10 settings but nothing has really helped much. It also is not level - the right edge sits about 1 mm proud of the palm rest and the left side is low. I can push it down and it sits level, but goes back to sticking up on the right after awhile. This prevents effective left clicking at the left corner.

Also, the screen has a dark vertical line a pixel wide present.

Otherwise, it seems pretty good. I will renovate my old laptop and perhaps try again next year.

That's one severe lemon of a laptop you have there.

    Little bit of an update:
So I've had this laptop for almost two weeks, and so far it's been great. Used it for about 4hrs total, all of it basically streaming video from YouTube and Twitch, and came home with 50% battery still on it. Much better than the very sad 2hr maximum battery life I've been able to get out of my old laptops.
In regular use, even in a relatively quiet library, I don't notice my laptop's slight electric buzzing/coil whine. It's only on really quiet nights when I'm alone do I really notice it.
Trackpad is smooth and nice to use, except maybe pinch to zoom in chrome. It seems to like to zoom accidentally a decent amount when my intention is to scroll the page.
Got a neoprene 11" laptop sleeve. This slips right in. Impressive footprint for a 13" laptop.

I'd be happy if it were just a lemon, particularly regarding the touchpad. Clearly something isn't right with it not being level. I may try again when the upgraded Skylake processors begin shipping. I have the i5-6200U and I read somewhere that the 6300U with vPro will be shipping in January. Not a big difference (slightly higher clock frequency and boost w/6300U) but something to perhaps make it seem worth trying again.

I'm interested in the XPS13 9350 but wanted to see if anyone could provide some feedback on the following.

    1. If I go with the core i3 model will it produce less heat and get longer battery life then the core i5 model. (There are no reviews on the core i3 model)

    2. Is it possible to set the boot order to always boot from USB first? I could not find it on a demo unit I that I had a short amount of time to play around with. Maybe this is only possible if you disable secure boot and select the legacy rom option.

    Thanks

Not sure about 1, but 2 is definitely possible. Bios actually has surprisingly big amount of options, I definitely did not expect that many.

    Hi guys,

    Thought I would join.

Just bought a XPS 13 9350 (delivery was a nightmare but oh well)
I got the i5, 8GB, 256gb SSD - I use it for watching lectures/excel/email and web browsing mainly so enough for my needs, oh and the occasional Age of Empire 2 games!

    Questions.
    1. What accessories would you recommend?
I have a knomo black leather bag to carry it in, I also bought the HDMI adapter (to hook up to my monitor at home)
I also have a mouse and keyboard.
I was either looking at the carbon wrap? (how difficult is this to do?)
    or a laptop sleeve?

2.What programs do you recommend to take full advantage of the gorgeous screen and windows 10?
currently I have the full office suite (paid approx £3 a month for 12 months)

    3. What do you think of the edge browser? I enjoy using it. what are the downsides?

    Thanks in advance :)

MS Edge ist quite nice: fast and low need of RAM, however the reason why I don't use it anymore is the fact that you can't use extensions. So for example adblock is not supported yet and surfing the web with all the advertisements just is no fun at all. We might get extensions-support in early 2016, until then I go with MS-Explorer. Chrome is kind of faster, but it needs much more RAM, kills your battery and produces more heat which turns on the fan of my notebook more often.

I know that you can get rid of many ads by blocking via hostfiles however it does not work with every website especially with streaming-portals.

Got my Non-touch 8gb 256 SSD in the mail yesterday. First time we turned it on, it froze on the first screen. Second time it said it didn't recognize the SSD. Third time was the charm. Has been working fine since then even though I haven't done much with it. Checked for certificates, didn't have any surprisingly.

Though as I type this message out, I am noticing a slight delay on some of what I'm typing. Not sure if these are just negligible hiccups or small signs of more trouble to come.

I'm considering buying the following specs:

    - Intel® Core™ i7-6500U (2.5 GHz
    - Quad HD
    - SSD PCIE 256GB
    - 8GB, LPDDR3, 1866 Mhz

Which exactly should be the SSD to replace it for a 512GB or 1TB? Could someone post a link so I can not be mistaken?

    Thanks

i intend to grab the same setup as you, and to replace the ssd eventually as well (the jump to 16gb is just a bit too ridiculous for the minimal gain based on my usage).
still quite the amateur with this sort of stuff, but i believe this is it, the samsung's 950 pro.

Is there some type of shut down/rebooting bug? I few times now my computer has actually restarted after having the lid shut and going to sleep for a while. Also, I occasionally press the power button on accident when picking it up and instead of going to sleep, it seems like it's rebooting because when it wakes up, it does the Dell logo and all my applications are closed. WTF is going on?

Thanks! And thanks for clarifying the 1TB situation. I was waiting for Dell's Brazil to release the top of line version with 16GB and 1TB, but it seems they won't, so I think I'll make do with this arrangement.

Just to make sure the XPS 13 Skylake version is compatible with this new "PCIe NVMe - M.2" protocol, right? Because the boardwell version did not seem to be. Just to be on the safe side.

Mbernstein, if battery life is important you might look at the 850EVO and compare....This machine is very fast, and, owning two, one with a 128Gb and the other, a 500Gb EVO there isn't really a noticeable difference in use....I do not, however use the machines to game....I was initially concerned, have previously posted the crystalmark benchmarks which make them look significantly different.......

There are posts in this thread discussing that (and the interface compatibility). I don't have the links, but from a couple different sources idle 50 vs 70mw, active 3.5-4.7 vs 5.1-6.4W

    Hello,

I am looking at getting the XPS 13 9350. I am looking at the i5, 8GB, FHD version. However, I am not sure what SSD to get. The MS store is currently offering $100 off ($899 for the 128 SSD) and Dell is offering the 256 SSD for $949 on Cyber Monday.

My quandary is this: I might not be able to get the 256 version on Monday night due to work/other complications. Should I just go ahead and get the 128 SSD (which I can get for sure) or chance it and wait? Is the upgrade worth the risk and the extra $50?

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

I don't know how you use the computer, but I wonder why they even sell 128 GB these days if not for people to upgrade their SSDs later or regret their purchase... I believe 128GB (and 64GB) are the domain of mobile OSes, but that's just my opinion.

I too have the flicker. I had to disable the Bluetooth radio to get it down to tolerable levels (only occasionally flickers now), but I'm still having video driver crashes. I am debating returning it or waiting for the drivers to get fixed. Really blows given what I've paid for this thing.

Ugh. So sorry to see this. I was all set to pull the trigger on a 9350 Signature Edition, but am having second thoughts.

Does anyone who purchased their 9350 from Dell, without doing a clean install of Windows 10, have the flickering problem?

I know some people with 9344s from Dell have experienced the problem after updating to Windows 10, and some people with 9350s that are Microsoft Signature Edition do, too. But I'm curious if 9350s purchased directly from Dell are any better.

I updated to the latest Beta drivers for the Intel Graphics two days ago. No driver crashes since. The funny thing is, I still get the same effect (sometimes the screen blacks out or just becomes white, or doesn't refresh anymore), mini- then maximizing a window takes care of it. I just don't get the notification anymore. It's not that big a deal, considering no work gets lost or anything, but it is somewhat ridiculous what Intel & Dell are pulling here.

I'm really interested in too... I'm thinking of getting a SATA 3 SSD and at the same upgrading in memory (from 256 to 512GB for example), but I'd like to be sure that there is a real difference.
Some SSD are getting really cheap in sales so I could try it if feedbacks say it's worth it!

That's what I'm thinking, too. Also, the Microsoft Store seems to be a common thread in posts I've seen here and elsewhere. I wonder if the plain vanilla version of Windows 10 has some kind of trouble with the hardware on these devices, particularly the screens.

Honestly, the main thing holding me back from taking the Dell Cyber Monday deal is my concern about Adaptive Brightness. My Thinkpad had something similar, and it drove me crazy, but I was able to disable it. Wish there were a way to do that on the FHD XPS 13.
