So now that the anniversary update is out, has anyone experienced worse coil whine? Now I get a more noticeable crackling sound (though still unnoticeable with ambient noise).
One thing I did so far was updated to the latest audio driver via dell site (July 25, 2016).
-
I did roll back for this audio driver cause I've got some weird sound(kind of noise) from the speakers.
-
I had the same issue but after install the chipset drivers from Dell site (8 files in total) the coil whine is much less noticeable

Does anyone have the FHD touch screen or have any info? How does it compare to the FHD non-touch and QHD in terms of brightness and color? Can CABC be disabled as with the QHD? -Thanks!

There is no FHD touchscreen. Only QHD+ has the touchscreen.
I like my FHD for it's matte finish. Also 1080p at 13" is plenty imo. -
That does not appear to be the case anymore. Dell is now showing "13.3” FHD (1920 x 1080) InfinityEdge touch display" in addition to "13.3” FHD AG (1920 x 1080) InfinityEdge display."
-
WHOA. That would be awesome.
-
Can someone confirm if the 13 fhd has pwm or not please. I couldn't use fhd or uhd xps 15. Gave me headaches unfortunately.

I checked Dell's website and didn't see it. If they did have touch 1080p that would be great. -
Question for the board, and sorry if this has been answered elsewhere. I picked up the XPS 13 i7-6500/8gb/256gb from the Microsoft Store, and I'm still in my 30 day return policy. I see Amazon has the XPS 13 i7-6560U/Iris Graphics/8gb/256gb for roughly the same price. Is the jump to Iris worth it? I use that laptop mostly for office work and development, and play some older games when I travel. I read heat and battery life suffer with the Iris, is this true?

I'm looking to upgrade my 128GB drive to either the Samsung EVO or the Samsung PCie/NVME Pro. I remember beginning of the year users reporting major battery hit using the NVME Pro drives. Has this been resolved with the new updates/drivers?
How much is the real world performance gain anyway. I know On Paper 500/500 vs 2200/900(estimates)

Wow, nice. I wonder if it'll have dbc. -
What a disappointment. Our wifi adaptor (1820) do not become a hotspot.
-
Thank you for your reply. In my experience the lexar start working fine, but suddenly it disconnect and reconnect several times... Could it be a problem in the power settings?
-
I use it with Connectify Hotspot without any problems.

After installing the Windows 10 Anniversary update, I've noticed some odd behavior with touchpad and browsing.
Just moving the cursor up and down with the touchpad in Chrome makes the whole window shift up and down a couple of pixels. It's enough to be quite annoying. I tried re-installing chrome with no luck.
It seems to happen a lot when I'm browsing reddit. Less so on other sites, as far as I can tell.
i5/8gb/128gb/fhd. Anyone else with the same experience? -

How much battery life will the i7 with Iris graphics version get me if I do only some web browsing and word processing while on the move? For Photoshop I will probably be near a power outlet.
Some websites say about 5 hours, but I want info from people who own the device. -
I get about 4 hours.

What Wi-Fi card do you have? When I make the test with "NETSH WLAN show drivers" ( http://www.windowscentral.com/how-turn-your-windows-10-pc-wireless-hotspot) I get Hosted network supported: Not which means that it can not become a wifi hotspot.
-
Thank you. It works for me also
-
netsh wlan>show drivres
The following command was not found: show drivres.
netsh wlan>show drivers
Interface name: Wi-Fi
Driver : Dell Wireless 1820A 802.11ac
Vendor : Broadcom
Provider : Broadcom
Date : 26/11/2015
Version : 1.555.0.0
And it works with Connectify Hotspot. -
The new dell thunderbolt update failed to be installed in my 9350. Why this?
-
Some Tech Noob Notebook Consultant
Mine did too. Don't worry about it. -
Please post if you find any info on this, or do it yourself, I'm looking to do the same NVME upgrade from my 128GB drive. Not sure if it's worth doing if it comes with a significantly decreased battery life.
-
/double post
-
I upgraded my 128gb to the Samsung SM951 NVME 256GB drive. This a small-step slower than the Pro version, but still significantly faster (in write speeds) than the Dell stock-installed PM951 256/512GB drives. The bios update back in December or early 2016 resolved any battery life issues for the NVME drives. There is no difference between the 128gb AHCI and NVME 256gb now.bashy likes this.

Are the XPS 13 / 15 buzzing / clicking noises inherent in most configurations? Does Dell have a solution for this, or do owners have to keep returning them hoping to get one that doesn't have the problem?
Thanks.
Let's investigate the XPS 13/15 Coil whine - Hardware or Software related?Last edited: Aug 20, 2016 -
I've made my peace with that. ~(>_<~)
-
I solved changing power output on WiFi card to 75% in Device Manager.
BUT
You get poorly wifi signal. Nothing to worry, your wifi still works, but meh...Last edited: Aug 16, 2016 -
Does that solve the coil whine or are you talking about different noise?
-
If you are talking about changing power output, this makes coil whine less noticeable, but still there.
-
Okay, the Dell update "service" just delivered some driver that started causing the humming noise from the speakers. I see now what you are talking about
I am trying to get rid of it. It seems it was the speakers + microphone driver (Realtek).
Yes, it was this bastard:
"Installation of Realtek High Definition Audio ALC3266 Driver successful."
After I replaced it with the old audio driver, it went back to normal.Last edited: Aug 18, 2016 -
I've installed win anniversary.. But I've problems.. Now I can ear humming noise.. And sometimes win freezes..
I think I'll come back to win10
Do you think the problem Il Realtek?

I did not install the Anniversary update yet. But check the audio driver. If you have the one I had, it may be the problem. Try to replace it with the older driver from Dells website.
-
Oh, ok...
Anyway don't install anniversary...
Someone else have feedback?
Inviato dal mio Nexus 4 utilizzando Tapatalk -
Have you tried to install the older audio driver? Did it work?
I will postpone the Anniversary if it causes the humming noise. I couldnt stand this. The quiet operation is what I appreciate most on my Dell. -
So much for testing... Who releases a driver that causes your laptop to make such a f*cking annoying noise?!
-
Anybody else unable to install KB3176493?
-
I came back directly to win 10 because anniversary caused many freezes in addition to noise...
Very bad update..

Sooo....., can anyone please tell me if the DA200 dock works with the xps 13 9350? (Hdmi, VGA, etc,..)... or is it better to buy the DA100 and connect to the USB port?
-
I can confirm that this adapter works:
https://www.i-tec-europe.eu/?t=3&v=406
I have tried 3 and this is the only one that worked. The others may have had a problem with connecting to the laptop body (the entire connector couldnt click all the way in). The i-tec works flawlessly! Finally a good one! and it cost me about 28 EUR/30 USD. I havent tried the USB-C charging though, I plan to buy a charger as well for my office and that would make a complete docking for me

Thanks! Keep us posted about the charging, would you?
-
I use it without any problems...
-
I will, when I get some decent USB-C charger in my home country (I dont want to buy from abroad because of warranty). Meanwhile you can check this guy who uses a similar USB-C adapter and a charger:

Hi there, i can confirm that Acer Graphics Dock works without any problem out of the box: just install Nvidia drivers and everything works fine.
The coolest thing i find out is that you can choose to run any app using the internal or external GPU:
Now I have an excellent ultraportable (my machine is a i7 qhd touch version) with a decent graphics power

Does the Aukey USB C Hub works with the XPS 13?
I hope I get my XPS 13 i5 QHD this week. -
I have a wifi that I need to use that I can connect to after a fresh boot (full shutdown "shutdown /s /t 0"). If the computer was sent to sleep, however, it connects but the internet doesn't work, the troubleshooter doesn't find anything, and even a ping just yields a "general failure". Is this a known issue?
-
First my XPS 13 wont update to Windows 10 Anniversary Update.
Hang off at 71% everytime.
I clean installed Windows 10 and while installing the Broadcom Driver, the System frezzed again and I was getting a bluescreen at every start.
So I installed Windows 10 again and this time I installed a old Driver from 29.05.2015.
Has anyone experienced the same?
Or is at a Hardware fault?
i5/qhd/8GB
Edit:
Installed the newest wifi Driver again and now it seems to work everything.
But the coil whine is very bad and I dont know if I should return it...Last edited: Aug 27, 2016 -

I'm i5/fhd/8gb and the anniversary update installed just fine.
Windows gave me more problems though after updating, though.
