The LP156WF1(TL)(F3) version is for HP laptops and may not work in the Dell without firmware re-programming as mentioned above.
You are looking for the LP156WD1-TL (B1) version, which is Dell P/N G028T. This place has the OEM panels at a good price: NEW Dell G028T 15.6" HD+ WXGA++ Matte LCD Screen
I personally like the AUO panels and the v.4 offered above (if it is a true v.4 panel) in the previous post is a very nice screen at $100. See here: https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/screen-part-number/B156HW01 V.4/

The newer Dell BIOS versions that incorporate embedded diagnostics subsystems look for the screen firmware ID before booting so if it is not generic or is specific to another make (like HP), it may be rejected by the system since it cannot confirm the resolution and specific LVDS cable loop-back tests.

Conufsed now... -
As it says: EXACT PART NUMBER B156HW01 V.4

Would anyone in the US have a 0V73D3 cable available to sell?
Just checking, I bought the wrong one off eBay, but I'm very good at swapping out my screen. I already have the B156HW01 V.4 monitor, all I need is the cable.
Sorry to spam the thread, I can't IM anyone as I just registered. I am available via e-mail.
Thanks,

Thanks Scott.
If you can, please let me know if you don't have one, I will give Dell a call and explain I'm fixing a friend's system. -
I will have an AUO v.4 panel later this week if anyone is still looking.
Scott- -
Thanks for checking.
I will give Dell a call tomorrow. Anyone know a good "script" for calling to not get hassled about the part request? -
So Hello, I'm new around here and I have a DELL XPS L501X that the screen broke at college due to a hidden patch of ice we all love to slip on. Anyways I have some decent basic computer skills but as I read thru all the 41 pages of comments it seems like you guys will have a good idea on how to solve my problem. OK well as my original screen broke (LP156WH2 15.6" HD (TL) (A1) ) I googled and found a replacment screen that i thought was right! it was a AU Optronics B156HW01 v.7 that said it was also a 40 pin, and so I got out my magnifiying glass and counted the pins on my cable to make sure it was correct and there was 40 pins, SO I ordered the screen. Now when it came in I installed it and had 2 problems.
problem 1) when I went to put the plastic bezel back on once the new screen was screwed in it wouldent fit back on right with the new screen in there.
Problem 2) when I turned on the computer the screen works...... sorta. it displays everything it should be displaying but it has like small lines of white pixels running down it in every other row and makes the whole screen seem weird. I have pictures of it.
After reading everything on this forum in all the 41 pages I beleive my problem lies in the fact that I do not have the correct cable running to the screen, is this my problem please help!!!!!!!!!!!! -
These are the pictures of eveerything I took so someone will have a bit of a better idea of what I am talking about.

Problem 2):
Yup, you need a dual-link "FullHD" cable.
Every second row of your pixels is displaying blank.
Problem 1): Do both screens seem to have the same profiles side-by-side? -
Well I fixed problem 1, it was me putting the bars that secure the screen to the computer in backwards. I had to facepalm myself. So now if anyone could explain why my display looks the way it dose I'll have one less heart attack to deel with.
-
Are you positive that the cord is all I need or could there be another problem lurking, thou after taking forever to read all the comments I think that is my problem also. So were can a poor college student aquire one of these fine wires sir?

I will have a few more V73D3 full HD (900p/1080p) LCD LVDS cables for the L501/2x within the next week so let me know if anyone is interested. Just PM or email me.

What is your e-mail, I really don't know how to work this site very well and I would be highly interested in getting one of those cables as soon as you get some!!!

Hi everyone !
i just bought dell xps L502x ( core i7) but i got it with HD WLED multi touch screen (1366*768) i want to have FULL HD B+RGLED (1920*1080) my laptop lcd screen is TOUCH SCREEN...
What's the procedure to swap for the desired FHD screen ? and would itbe available in touch ?
waiting eagerly for sincere and expert suggestions !!!
Thanks in advance...... -
@ lsb
U explained me... But i want in detail... N i want screen to b 3d capable...
Waiting for ur response -
Just so you all know:
Don't order from laptopscreen.com.
I ordered a screen from them on this page:
Dell XPS 15 replacement Laptop LCD Screen from $59.99 Brand-new screens (never used).
All the LCDs on this page are advertised they are compatible with the XPS 15. Guess what? They sent me a LP156WF1(TL)(F3). Not compatible with my l501x without reprogramming. Not happy about that.
Question for Kyouko:
Which LCD did you order? The LP156WD1-TL (B1), or the AUO V.4 from laptopscreen?
I just want to find one that is genuinely going to work out of the box. The LP156WD1-TL (B1) would be fine by me if I can just install it and go. I don't care about perfect color fidelity and all that. I just want more resolution. -
Whats the problem?
Why do you think the panel needs to be reprogrammed?
You sure you connected the video cable? -
@ wajeehqamar
Can't have 3d in laptops which shipped 2d only. Thats all I know. -
-
Hmm,
I'd love to test this to see if the programming is indeed the issue.
Do you mind PMing me your order details, we'll set up an RMA,
and get everything sorted out.
I apologize in advance for the hassle.
Thanks,
Ellis -
Are there any decent 900P ( 1600 X 900 ) screens available for this?
-
I guess I'm not able to send PMs until I have posted five times.
I'll post one more time to test this theory. -
Hopefully I can send PMs now...
Looks like I can't yet.

My support ticket number is (numberHere) and my order number is (numberHere). I asked for a refund and I have shipped the screen back already. I would be happy with a truly plug-and-play compatible LCD if you have one in stock. (you can search this thread for the compatible models)
Thanks for the suggestion to edit out the numbers. -
I got your info,
you can edit out the numbers if you wish.
The rest in the support ticket.
Cheers -
@ LSB
Alright... But what about full hd RGB SCREEN for my dell xps l502x which would be touch panel... With more refresh rate... I want to replace n interested in it... Can u plz explain me the full procedure ? -
Scott- -
Thank you Scott, couldn't have put it better myself.
@ wajeehqamar if you haven't done anything like this before, I would highly suggest that you don't attempt. It impossible to explain the years of experience one gains being a technician. You are very likely to end up with a dead computer just from one wrong move, even when just replacing an LCD.
Sorry can't be of much help. -
I just received a replacement screen from laptopscreens.com and WOW, it works great!
When I first installed the screen, it was horribly garbled. Then I un-installed and re-installed the graphics drivers I was using (NVIDIA) and now the screen works flawlessly.
The AUO B156HW01 v.4 is a truly great 1080P screen. -
@ scot.. thanks alot for ur explanation... u have cleared everything in my mind..
@ LSB... cannot i replace the lcd from some technitian or dell official dealers ? -
Up to you,
if you are replacing with B156HW01 V.4 you can do it on your own too.
I was just saying that in case you'd like to do non-standard mods, you might want to check with research/people who have done it already. This thread will be sufficient to just replace with the screen above. -
Will B156HW01 V.4 panel work on Precision M4600 laptop? The lcd which came by default is too grainy and I want to replace it (Dell refused any screen replacement). Should I buy a different cable? My screen is FHD already.
-
I just successfully replaced the original HD LCD on my l502x with a Full HD LG LP156WF1 (TL)(F3) bought on screencountry for 97 CAD + a FHD ribbon cable on ebay for 40 CAD.
I suggest that you add a warning on the first post about the 2 versions of FHD ribbon cable connector to motherboard with all serial number being the same ! (well described at page 40).
I've read the entire thread before going on with the swap but I still get caught buying a wrong ribbon cable at first, at least I was able to get a refund.
Thank you to all who participated in this thread, it was very helpful ! -
Check the connections with the picture. (50 pin Dell)
This panel is cheaper and is an IPS panel (haven't looked into specs, but I hear IPS is the king) -
IPS indeed is the top, but I heard that it needs special electronics that aren't present in a non-IPS laptop. So I'd be eager to learn if and how it works in an XPS.
-
I was replying to Dell Precision M4600 post. -
-
Well like I said, take it apart, and compare the connectors.
If you have a wide 50 pin Dell-only connector, then IPS it is.
If it's a standard 40 pin LED connector, then B156HW01 is the way to go. -
-
It's pretty straight-forward,
here, let this 12 year old girl show you how
How to change a broken screen from a laptop - YouTube -
-
(This one is fairly specific)
*Exact* is put on B156HW01 V.4 because we stocked it specifically for Notebookreview forum users. -
For everyone's reference, I posted a 3-video tutorial to YouTube on how to replace both the screen and the ribbon cable in the XPS 15 L501X.
Here are the three videos:
Laptop screen replacement, LCD screen replacement guide Dell XPS 15 L501X Part 1 - YouTube
Laptop screen replacement, LCD screen replacement guide Dell XPS 15 L501X Part 2 - YouTube
Laptop screen replacement, LCD screen replacement guide Dell XPS 15 L501X Part 3 - YouTube
In total, it's 22 minutes long. It takes some disassembly to get to where the screen cable plugs into the laptop itself. Not the easiest thing in the world, but not that bad either. -
Is it possible to still get the AOU V7 glossy anywhere?
