The system has been returned after I gave up on being transferred 5 times from tech support to customer support to parts (which confirmed the xk309 is in stock) to tech support to customer support.![]()
So I called sales and got another one configured with better specs for the same price I paid for the previous system by using a 20% coupon.![]()
Let's see what they ship me this time...
-
Pretty much what I dd. If I get another crappy samsung, I'll give them one chance to replace the screen - then it's returned for good. I'll shop somewhere else.
-
Darn it I got the LCD on my m1530 replaced today (dell sent the wrong resolution LCD installed.)
It's a Samsung SEC3350... NO!!! The wrong resolution LCD was a LG and it looked way better...
Man.. the screen looks pretty dark.. it's looks even darker than the Latitude D410 I'm using to type this out...
I'm going to try to get the SEC3550 replaced..... -
i was trying to get my SEC3350 replaced but dell refuses to give me a replacement
they are offering me a refund or an exchange of the whole system but this means i have to pay $174AUD for shipping....anybody have any ideas on what i should say to actually make them agree to replace my screen???
-
dell technician came today, dell shipped him the wrong monitor (samsung again) in which he was not impressed as they were told to ring him before anything was sent, which didnt happen
At the same i was getting my webcam replaced as it didnt work.
As we took apart my notebook it was evident that the build quality was pathetic. As we were taking of the power and media buttons, we saw a huge crack in the connector, which later did break and now the media buttons dont work(meaning i now need a new motherboard). After we got all the cables out of the way we began to take the monitor off, in which we saw that the threading holding for one of the screws which holds the monitor to the base was completely gone.
However we proceeded to install the webcam to see if we could get that working, in which it didnt, even with the new cable and webcam.
I have also been expecting a call from dell sales for over a week now (i inquired about upgrading to the the t9300 in which they said they would be me back within a day about pricings etc).
The tech told me just send the whole thing back and get a new one, call customer care as they have the power to give me an LG screen and try to get the upgraded CPU for free as sales have stuffed me around and my laptops poor build quality. -
Some of you guys are going to hate me...
Dell offered to send me the WUXGA screen because I am an "esteemed customer".
So here I am typing on a 1920x1200 screen. It is made by Samsung but its a heck of a lot better than their lower res grainy screens. -
Dell parts will sell you a xk309 for $290 plus $15 shipping. That less than the $431 I got off by using the 20% coupon.
I think I can live with this, I get the laptop I like with the good screen while paying less than full price.
I was at FutureShop yesterday and saw the LG P300. That's a sweet machine, to bad they don't make a 15" version of it. -
I just got my Vostro1500 today with WSXGA+ (1680x1050) Truelife and got Grainy Screen. It look especially bad if I change to lower resolution. I thought the grainy screen had been there for long time and Dell should have it fixed but apparently not.
I'll call Dell support for exchange next monday. Do they tech guy change the monitor on the spot (come to my place as it comes with Next Business Day Onsite Service)? or they will take the notebook back for service and I have to wait for it (meaning I cannot do anything until I get the screen issue fix)?
Should I ask for replace with the LG screen? LG screen seems to be less problematic, does it more reliable than Samsung and AUO?
Thanks. -
You can also ask for a replacement unit which will take a little longer since they will build you a new one.
Good luck! -
^^^^^
were u able to get the LG screen ?? im in canada too and i just got my xps with a bunch of problems including the samsung screen. -
-
If someone in Canada has managed to get a LG 1680x1050 replacement on request I would sure like to hear from you... -
-
Don't you have to pay the restock fee for each machine you send back? I know here in Aus it's $147.
-
-
+1 for customer service
-100 for being hard headed about allowing customers to request LG's.
I'm not going through that again, so Dell just lost a customer. Too bad, I liked the system! -
Hi,
It seems that even after 4 months, DELL still ship the same grainy screen for different model. I'm not sure whether getting a new one will helpas nobody knows whether I'll get the same grainy screen for the new one. If I still don't get the LG screen in day 25th, I think I'll just return it back and buy other brand.
Does the 1 year warranty covering the grainy LCD exchage? I'll ask my friend to ask for a replacement if possible.
BTW, anyone know is the (Samsung or LG) LCD screen 6-bit or 7-bit color?
Thanks! -
-
I just got my replacement M1530 with WSXGA+ display.
Same POS SEC3350.
I stopped keeping track of this thread a couple weeks ago when I sent for my replacement. Is anyone getting good replacement screens off the bat or is it still an uphill battle? -
-
Another system I'm looking at is the Lenovo T61P, but I'm running into the same problems as Dell. They use both Samsungs and LG's for their systems. When you deal w/ a huge company like Dell or Lenovo, I think you're pretty much SOL.
So to answer your question, I dunno what I'm getting. -

Just got my vostro with samsung screen and it looks awesome!Checked service tag and showed this
1 XX047 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 15.4WXGA, VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC...., TLF, SAMSUNG..., V2 -
I have seen the difference first hand when I took my first M1530 to the Dell kiosk and compared it to the floor demo that has an LG panel. I have returned the second unit for a full refund and ordered another one, figured I would rather try for a factory build unit with the LG panel instead of having a tech mess up my unit.
The new one should be out of production in the next couple of days and I'll know then which panel it has. -
Tech came in with 2 new screens, both samsung... Rejected them all. Dell ships a new unit... Samsung again... All garbage...
Refunded it in the end.. and ordered a XPS 1330.. its for business anyways... I thought a 8600GT would be nice for gaming touch once in a while.. Guess i will do more work now. -
I have a 1520, but it uses the same screen as the 1530. Anways, I had the Samsung screen, and I got tech support to send a replacement, which was, of course, a Samsung. So i called them back and told them about the whole grainy issue, and I pointed them to this thread. After a few days I was transferred to the highest level of Dell's support. They told me that, as a one time exception, they would sent me the part number I had requested (XK309). It showed up yesterday, and it's simply an amazing screen. Obviously and ridiculously clearer and brighter than the Samsung. If you have any computer experience or any experience with a screwdriver, you can put it in yourself.

pressure now and then. -
My laptop shipped yesterday! =) But can someone tell me where I can get my service tag so I can check what parts I get?
-
-
-

-
-
-
i tried to check what kind of monitor i have going by the directions on the other thread but it doesnt give me a model name
are there any other ways besides going into device manager? -
Are they still shipping the M1530's with the samsung panels? When i spoke to dell before i ordered they said they had stop selling the samsung panels weeks back.
Mine is due to ship tomorrow (seems peoples are being delayed though) anyone ordered around 3/11 or shortly before and received their laptop with the LG? I ordered the 1680x1050 resolution option -
The sales agents for Dell are great politicians!
Yeah, that's the ticket--yeah, we don't sell Samsungs anymore-yeah, that's it!
They are still shipping Samsungs, LG's, AOU's, and any other LCD panel that they can get at the least price at the time. There have been some folks reporting that the Samsungs being shipped now are much better, but that may be due to a lack of comparison to any other panel.
They cannot actually guarantee what brand of panel that you will get at the time that you order the notebook. -
-
So its basically the luck of the draw which one you get. If its by location I hope Arizona gets the right one lol.
-
-
Mine was ordered on 3/9 was suppose to ship 3/18.
I got an email today saying it is delayed with new ship date of 3/21.
I just hope it is not delayed again and NOW I also hope I don't get the Samsung screen.
Cant wait to get it though. -
Ok well i talked with the dell chat and they told me to call dell customer care tomorrow (i guess they are on est time) anyway mine isint due to be shipped until tomorrow.
Not sure if anyone tried this or can give any insight but if i call tomorrow before my order ships and say anything to them will it make any difference in making sure i get the LG panel (does lg even make the panel for the 1680x1050 reso?). if i give the part # or anything. -
Hey my post vanished on the refresh.
Here goes again.
Ordered mine on 3/9 with a ship date of 3/18.
Got an email today saying it is delayed with a new ship date of 3/21.
I hope it comes soon and I hope I dont get the samsung problem screen.
My order status has not changed but I did get the email saying it is delayed. -
-
-
I talked to my sales rep today and she said the reason it was delayed was due to the cpu T9500.
-
-
-
and if i call dell customer care tomorrow and request that part on mine (if it hasent shipped yet, which it might) will i have any luck? Or will customer care tell me to eff oh? -
is the problem with dell screens only with higher resolution? was there ever a problem with 1280x800 ?
How do I fix my m1530 Grainy Screen?
