REM stage sleep = rapid eye movement..... i wish i can see the dw306 display side by side with the old LG damn it.....
-
Well, I returned my m1530 and was in the process of re-ordering, but then I got a call from someone higher up saying what monitor you get depends on what is currently in stock.
I don't have the patience (or amount of credit cards) to keep re-ordering until I finally get a good screen. F it. -
guys im waiting for mine to arrive so i called dell and asked for the service tag so i can see what screen it will come with and this is what it says
1 RW985 LCD,15.4WSXGA+,VESA,TLF,SMSNG
now am i going to be a person now that will be going back and forth to dell trying to get a LG unless i get lucky as Jakpro? -
Yes, you'll probably be doing the screen swap routine.
I just got my service tag also, and ended up with a LG screen.
DW306 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 15.4WSXGA+, TLF, LGP, V2 -
-
ok well I also have a dell inspiron 6000 with a 15.4WSXGA+ screen, so I will compare it to that.
This is what my dell inspiron 6000 has
1 TD418 LCD,15.4,WSXGA+,VESA,SMSNG
also a samsung screen which i find it perfect, just a shame that the XPS quality isnt the same -

Thanks you to forum members who replied my post and sharing your pictures.
Now I got idea how to take good picture. Hopefully I will get an LG screen but it is really worth to let the tech guy to dismantle your laptop for the good screen change? -
XK309 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 15.4WSXGA+, VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC...., TLF, LGP
YES! FINALLY! It only took FIVE service call orders and a kind helpful local on-site dude before Dell got it right. Monday MONDAY MONDAY! -
No, if you just get a monkey.
The tech messed up mine and I ended up returning it anyway. -
Thats why now Im thinking twice whether to change or not for a new screen. I dont want them to mess up again with my new laptop.
Dell should give us a good screen from beginning. -
I agreed, DELL seems to outsource the service. When I finally got the replacement of Samsung to LG K309 this monday, the tech guy use a brute force to force open the LCD lid. My heart almost break before the lid can be opened. I asked whether this will break the lid, he said if it break, call DELL. He also said, he NEVER open this model before!
If you get a good screen, then you are in luck.
If you get a samsung screen and have a good experienced tech guy to exchange for you, then you are lucky. -
is there a way to check what the replacement screen model is before the tech comes out? i got emails my replacement was shipped etc etc.
-
-
i was originally sent a DW306 so there is no reason i should not get that as a replacement.
-
Good luck. What's wrong with your current LCD? -
aww well i will talk to the dell tech and see if he can check before. if its anything but the lg looks like we will have to order another replacement panel. I was shipped an LG panel in my original system so i will settle for nothing less
.
has anyone has the part number "Y274C" shipped to them and it be a samsung? it seems thats just a generic part number for the 1680x1050. -
You have to specify to tech support that they need to order the panel separately and put a note designating the specific part number and that you will not accept anything else. Even then, you might end up with the SEC3350.
If you are lucky, you will get a good panel the first try. Then, go to the casino or buy a lottery ticket! -
THen again i thought i was lucky that my original unit had the LG panel i was super excited until i hit the power button and my screen never displayed anything. so hopefully i can get lucky to get the LG panel this time around and have it work.
-
What do you mean "i hit the power button"? I do it pretty often.
-
as in i hit the power button to turn it on for the first time. and nothing ever came on the screen because it was broke.
-
Just checked my service tag. I'm getting the DW306 screen! Can't wait for tomorrow!
-
Today I went to a computer shop near my place. I was looking at one of Acer low-end model. Im surprised that that cheap-Acer laptop has better screen than my M1530 and it prices half than my laptop!!
Acer LCD doesnt has any grains, clear crystal, white is solid white. By comparison, my M1530 grainy Samsung LCD really suxx
I dont understand why Dell put cheap LCD panels in M1530 and said XPS is their premium product. I know Samsung can produce good panels. I heard that Sony use Samsung LCD for thier Vaio and the screen is 10 times better than Dell spec Samsung.
I've seen a Toshiba laptop with Samsung LCD, it's beautiful and no grains at all.
Dell spec Samsung LCD is really substandard. I dont know why the in-charged person chose and approved to use this kinda low-quality grade screens. Maybe the person is blind or something?
I hope I can get LG screen for replacement. Grainy screen really makes me headache.
cheap LG LCD > cheap Samsung LCD -
I give up
My 3rd systems just shipped with the RW985 Samsung panel. I could not bare the thought of again dealing with Dell Support on this issue.
I spoke to Dell Parts and they gave me 10% off on a brand new XK309 LG panel. It was easy and painless except for the cost. But my sanity is more important...
So the M1530 will be here eventualy and I will have the LG panel in it.End of story for me. Since I got such a great deal on the M1530 to begin with it was easier to stomach the additional cost of getting the LG panel.
By the way, for those of you getting the DW306. Dell Parts told me this part is discontinued and could not be ordered. They did have lots of XK309 in stock though. -
I have only seen 14" and 15" Samsung screens. They have been on brands like HP, Acer, and Toshiba as well as Dell. Without exception they have been yellowish to some degree, with uneven lighting, bad viewing angles, and graininess that ranged from slight to terrible. Perhaps Samsung makes better screens in other sizes, but this isn't strictly a Dell problem.
-
the samsung screens that are bad probably just came from a facility that has a problem or something. you have to figure samsung makes some of the best if not the best lcd panels of anyone. However dell probably orders in bigtime bulk and its possibly 98% of those panels samsung sent out were bad which is why the grain and viewing angles are there. Its not like samsung makes specific panels for dell, hp, sony, etc. its the same panel maybe from a different factory.

I sold my 2005fpw last summer, incredible how many people lined up to buy it
Samsung on laptop is poor, on desktop lcd they might be better. -
dell is lucky they didn't go further with me, they already lost out on all the replacements they sent me, i woulda been all over them if they offered to SELL me the LG screen. i just realized how imortant my notes were that i took through the experience. i would be all over dell on anything they tried. -
Hey I am kind of new to this so hopefully this doesn't sound really dumb. Ok so this is kind of off topic but I have gotten my screen replaced for a third time trying to get an LG screen and I noticed that on the back of the Samsung screen it says that it is a SXGA+ screen. My question is that is there a difference between WSXGA+ and a SXGA+ because on my invoice it says that I should be getting a WSXGA+ screen. I know for a fact that the LG screen says that Its a WSXGA+. Dell keeps on telling me that I will always get a Samsung screen because that is the one I began with and they always do same for same replacements. So if there is a difference, I might be able to complain to them about it and get an LG screen out of it.
-
that should be correct, according to this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SXGA+. the W just means wide.
-
-
.
-
SXGA+ - 1400 X 1050
WSXGA+ - 1680 X 1050
w = wide -

Just got my Dell 1530 today, I was trying to find the post where it showed you how to heck what screen you got but I cant find the post. Can you tell me how to check what screen I got and also what are the acronyms for LG or samsung? How can I tell if its a samsung or LG screen or another one?
thanks -
If you can't tell by looking at it, then you probably don't need the LG.
For me, I could quite easily see horizontal lines across the screen, and the grain is quite horrific. -
Go to System, Device Manager, Monitors, open up the monitor (may be under "Generic PnP Monitor"), look under Properties, click to Hardware ID.

when you returned your systems did u just call dell and tell them you werent happy with that particular system and u wanted to return it and order the exact same system again? -
I didn't return the system. this is a system exchange so I can't return it for my money back. actually i'm happy to get a m1530 but it's just the LCD issues. I got a cool on-site tech... he spent some more than on hold to try to order the LG LCD again...
Hopefully Dell ships a good one that works. Please Dell, No more Samsung SEC3350. -
They put their AUO grainy screens which most probably replaced from western countries customers into China Market!!!!
I am a Chinese Customer and I have bought a Dell Vostro 1500 recently with a AUO grainy screen!!! And I have contacted Dell China to replace the LCD twice, but at each time they still give me the AUO grainy screen!!! And at last I contact them to refund my money back, but they refused and telling me their screen is no problem!!! What a terrible service is!!!
That What Dell China is!!! A completely Rascal!!! -
ok I went to hardware id and it says MONITOR\LP010F <---- what is this? LG, Samsung or something else?
-
