For mine, it was ordered on 4/21 and arriving 4/28 giving the fact that they have to build it and shipped overnight next business day (free shipping). Total $1343.26 (- $70GC), not sure if that's a good deal, but it is for me.

Well, to check if you got a good deal, try to order the same computer with all the same components, and see if the price matches.

Just checked a few minutes ago, if I bought the same exact laptop today it would have cost me over 900 dollars more. I say thats a pretty sweet deal.

Seems like this issue has been resolved somewhat. . .I had a 1530 with the crappy screen in February and promptly returned it. I re-ordered last Monday (40% off!) after the rep "bet his job" that the screen issue was resolve. I was still skeptical but if the system config for the service tag they gave me is correct, I have an LG coming my way tomorrow.

Ok, so I ordered the XPS M1530 for the LAST time. I decided to completely disregard the 1680x1050 screen (I'm not bothering with it anymore) and go for the 1440x900 LED screen (15.4 inch Wide Screen WXGA+ TrueLife LED LCD with Camera for XPS M1530). It's kind of ridiculous that it costs $50 more than the 1920x1200 screen, but I'm holding out hope that it is amazing (I mean like...Macbook Pro screen levels of amazing). Plus, LED screens are supposed to boost battery by like 20 min, which is always good.

Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone has bought/received the LED screen. Mine is Ordered 4/25 shipped 5/12 delivered 5/19 (which is strange. Only delayed part is the HDD for 4 days, so why is it taking 17 days just to ship it?) so I won't be getting it for a while. I'd just like to know if I made the right decision before it's shipped so I can cancel it if the LED screen isn't good, and just go for another laptop.

I would've gone with the LED, but I'm used to high res. 1680x1050 on 15'' is the sweet spot for me. Only if they offer LED in this res, then I'll jump in for it if the price is right. :)

I ordered the 1680x1050 plus on 4/22. After reading all about the Sammy displays, I've been more than a little stressed. I finally got my shipping notice yesterday and today I weaseled my service tag number from customer service. To my surprise! DW306 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 15.4WSXGA+, TLF, LGP, V2. YAHOO! I firmly believe Dell is shipping all 1680's LG's. Good luck to everbody else.

Just received and cranked up and I got the LG screen alright. I guess Dell might have fixed the problem for US productions. My first impression to the screen was awsome, a relief.

Sorry bj....I'm sure you'll be able to weasle one more out from Dell. By the way what's the overall consensus on the LED screens...Dell had agreed to ship a replacement M1530 for me since the webcam does not work after the LG replacement (?????). I am thinking about just upgrading to the LED, I'm just debating if I should go for a brand new lappy w/ LED or stick with LG WXGA+ screen and have the tech fix the issue with the webcam...any thoughts would be appreciated.

AUO is one of the LCD manufacturers that Dell uses. It is definitely better than the AU screen that I have on my 6400/E1505.

I just bought a 1530 from the outlet and on the invoice (not the one in email), it states - XR859 Module,Liquid Crystal Display 15.4WSXGA+,Lg Philips Lcd M1530.

Does that appear to be one of the good ones?

    Thanks.

I recieved my XPS 1530 on the 16 of april. I got the crappy AOU-screen, it was horrible. Very grainy and it was bright on the left side and much darker to the right. I called the Xps support and complained about it and a tech guy cam and replaced it the following tuseday. So, I got a new screen, a even crappier AOU than the first one.

I cant seriously have a white background because it's so grainy. The white colour looks more like off-white or yellow. It looks like the screen is sticky, like I want to wipe it of, but I can't. Anyhow, I called up the support again the same evening, and first some guy said that "techical there is not a problem with your screen, contact customs support". Not a problem? Hmm..

Finally yesterday, after have been calling the support a several times, I will get a full system replacement, the exact same specification as I have now. At least he said I will get another two weeks of regret time starting from the day I recieve the replacement, (8th of may they said) so I can decied wether I'm going to keep it or not, based on the screen I guess ;).
Don't care about the brand of the screen, as long it's not grainy!

Ordered an M1530 from the Outlet last night and my invoice says 'XR859 Module,Liquid Crystal Display 15.4WSXGA+,Lg Philips Lcd M1530 '.

I tried to get Dell to tell which Dell part = item number XR859, but they couldn't or at least wouldn't. What are the chances I wonder of getting the LG according to the invoice or could the actual screen received be a dreaded Samsung even though the invoice states differently?

I'm still waiting for a service tag which I believe is assigned at the time of shipment.

    Thanks.

Sorry, I forgot I added a comment last night. Anyone with some thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi all

Well, after talking about 7 or 8 times each between a half and hour to an hour it's simply impossible to get the replacement. Talked to a manager even who refuse to even listen to me and repeat the same **** as a robot. I have checked with spare parts departments and they have it in stock. I have told them that, but they cannot get it! WHAT IS THAT? He's telling me that they are aware of the issue, but "unfortunately" they cannot guarantee they can get me the XK309 except an exact one that I have.

I have been lied to left and right, and all I heard is excuses or how their database system doesn't allow this to happen. I have told them that the issue with the RW985 and the Y274C is a known issue all over the internet and there have been successful replacements in the past. They cannot answer me why those have been successful. I'm not giving up quite yet!

Can the people that have been lucky enough to have the replacement done properly provide me with case numbers or service tag #? I told them that I want to see why A or B person has been able to have this done. This will also be useful for all others who have been ripped off with this.

It's been a very frustrating few days. It's the last time I will EVER buy a Dell! Their support is HORRIBLE and completely deaf to your complaints, lying in your face!

    Thanks so much in advance.

Kinda starting to look like the 1050 screens ordered around the 21st of April are of the LG variety.

After calling and sending 2 email to my sales rep to see if I could downgrade to a 900 screen .... With no reply or returned call :( (but no real surprise), Just saw that mine is shipped. Ordered it 4/21.

    So Got my fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear about all the problems with the screens....

I recently got my new 1530 and I was really, really worried what the screen was going to be like. (I nearly did'nt order it after reading all the bad press on here & my friend had one of the grainy screens so I've seen how bad they can look)

I'm In in the UK and I ordered the 1920x1200 version.

I have to say the picture is stunning, Crisp & Bright, not grainy at all.

What may suprise you is that is a Samsung!

I posted some pics of it in the 'anyone ordered a 1920x1200 yet' thread.

So, I can vouch for samsung on the Hi-res option. Hope this helps!

Got my service tag, but all I can tell from the System info site about it is:

RU671 BEZEL..., LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., PLASTIC..., W/CMRA, M1530

KR515 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 15.4WXGA+, TLF, LGP, V2

These are the listed part numbers and they do not match any I have found else where to be either Samsung or LG. Any Ideas? I do see it says LGP in the second Line. Guessing that is the LG screen then?

Yes I will do that, but check out Kirkdog's post. He got his service tag on Monday (and as far as I know not delivered yet) and He believes his to be an LG.

But note his part number. It is different yet than any other I have seen and different from the one I got today. But the discription is the same.

Sorry to hear about the issue you're having with Dell and your LCD panel. If you're still within your return period I would recommend returning it or getting Dell to ship you a replacement. If you're outside the return period I would get Dell to replace your panel as many time as it takes for you to be satisfied.

It is quite unlikely anyone will give you their service tag or case number...

In the Top 10 questions about the M1530 you will find more information on hoe to deal with this issue. Link is in my sig.

    Good luck.

After looking at my AUO screen more closely last night I noticed that the left side was a lot brighter than the right. I called and asked for a replacement screen, although they were not able to guarantee me an LG screen. Crossing my fingers that it will be fixed. If not, I may call my CS rep and see if I can pay the additional money and get a LED screen.

Placed my order 4/21 10AM, received it 4/30. I'm in Dallas, TX. Spoke to the CS rep who has been helping me throughout the process, asked if I was still not satisfied after getting the screen replaced, if there was any possibility to change to a LED screen. Told him that after lots of researching, some people have switched 2-3 times and still had bad screens. He told me he will take care of me if I still wasn't satisfied after replacement. Dell customer service has impressed me thus far...

Ok the Dell technician just came and replaced my screen. I originally had a WXGA+ AUO screen. When he opened up the box that they had sent him, I was really happy to find out it was a LG screen. After he got everything in, I noticed that text didn't seem as sharp. Opened up display properties, and to my surprise there was one more tick - to go to 1680x1050!! It was a WSXGA+ LG screen (Hardware ID-LPLF300)! Told the guy that and he goes, your lucky day eh!

Anyways, for some reason the bezel wouldn't stay on, so he called Dell and they are going to send me a new complete bezel, both front and back and he's going to come install it on Monday. All in all great experience. Anyone know if WXGA+ and WSXGA+ have different bezels? The left side just would not stay on when I opened the lid all the way back. It looked like the cord that snakes to the LCD would not stay in place, so when the lid opened more, the wire would push the bezel out. Dell should have just used some damn screws instead of that cheap snap on crap.

   Got mine today. Do not know for sure if it is an LG or not. BUT I DO KNOW IT IS NOT WHAT I ORDERED !!

I ordered the 1680x1050 and acutally recieved the 1440x900. I had requested this change 2 days after I ordered, but my Dell Rep never Called me back, and never responded to my multiple Emails. I had also requested the change the Dell Wireless card to the INtel Card. The Did NOT do this.

So I will wait until I get the bill, If they did not deduct the cost of the monitor I will be asking for a replacement.

It looks fine. No graininess that I can tell. I will keep it, but not really happy with the transaction so far.

In the Hardware ID it says: Monitor\LPLDF00
Any one know what that is? (EDIT) I see from Page one it is the LG

Weird...looks like we both got the LG one, except you got the one I was supposed to get and I got the one YOU were supposed to get! Crazy...nevertheless...I've been going back and forth on XGA or SXGA. I was fine with XGA...until I booted up my SXGA now...talk about night and day. I LOVE this SXGA!!

    Hi, all..

I haven't posted here in a while, but I have been among those who have had to deal with three awful iterations of the dreaded Samsung screen. After two tech replacements, a full unit rebuild, and five months of wrangling with Dell, I finally have a non-Samsung screen.

It isn't the LG, unfortunately, but it is the AU Optronics 1680x1050 screen - and I am DELIGHTED with it. I am no longer chasing shadows around the screen, the colors are now smooth, vivid, and uniform. and there is not a shred of shimmering or grain to be found. The bezel that was broken during my first replacement (Samsung for Samsung) was also replaced, and fits perfectly.

Finally, I feel like I have my new laptop. It is impossible for me to have anything other than mixed-to-negative feelings about the repair process, but it is *delightful* to have a display that is worthy of the rest of this laptop. It is unfathomable to me why Dell would run a customer through the wringer as they did me (and so many others here).

To a degree, I still lament the fact that I was not able to obtain the LG as a replacement, but I have realized it would be all-but impossible to see an order-of-magnitude improvement between the AUO and the LG that would be comparable to the change from the Samsung to the AUO. The Samsung - all three I had to go through - were absolutely abysmal. This AUO screen is a winner.

For those fighting this battle now, be advised that you may be encouraged to take a full refund on your 1530, but at least in my situation, a repurchase of an identically configured 1530 would have been at least $300 more expensive now than when I originally purchased it - which is obviously why Dell was offering it in the "refund" in the first place.

I've noticed a few aussies in here, does anyone know when the WUXGA display will be available over here?

I'm waiting patiently for it to be available, will run out and buy an M1530 as soon as it is. But I'm starting to wonder if it's ever coming, because if it isn't my plan was to buy the laptop with a 1680x1050 screen (and cross my fingers I get an LG or a non-grainy samsung) and regardless of the outcome, jump on ebay and buy a WUXGA screen from a D830 (or other compatible model) and switch it in.

I guess I'm also curious as to whether the WUXGA displays have any grain issues - but so far I don't think anyone on here has purchased one?
    Anyway, any thoughts appreciated.
