there are no well known problems for this bios.
well, sometimes entering in thermal menus causes some weird behaviour, like also changing some rare options.
latest version with sharadeos bioses should be good for you(version 6)

Thanks man,
i'll try to update the bios today in the evening, can you send me the correct bios settings for the proper functioning of, maybe screenshots? or maybe is on thread somewhere? -
mmm, well, the most important settings are enable fast strings and adjust the memory speed to the max your modules support
mkdizainas likes this. -
after upgrade the bios, these settings will be enabled, or I'll have to change the settings manually?
-
after upgreade to this bios, it have the stock settings present in default bios, only new upgreades like microcodes and other stuff run autimatically
so, as for enable fast strings and other stuff, you have to enter in bios setup and change it on submenus. -
I had no idea about that unlocked BIOS. When I read "GPU BIOS" I tought about the graphic card modifications only.
But, what a great notice this unlocked features!!!!!!
capitankasar,Thank you for the job, I wanted to change my L702x because no had RAID, and other limitations... but not now!
THANKS AGAIN, what an incredible help. -
@quearte
initially, it was just a GPU modification when sharadeos created the topic.
but after a while I decided to replicate the changes I did on the L502X laptop to the L702X.
it was easy since the bioses were almost identical.
glad you liked itquearte likes this. -

Progress report for L702x with nividia gt 550m (overvoltage to .912 V using the bios mods provided).
I've been using the bios mod for about a year now. When I first installed the bios mod, I got .912V (according to the Nividia Inspector), and I was able to get stable overclocks of about 740 mhz for the core to about 780 mhz (depending on the game). Also, I never touched the memory clock because I heard it's riskier than touching the core clock. Things worked pretty well for a few months. Temperatures were pretty high (around 90 degrees C for some games), but everything was pretty stable. This was back during the summer 2013. After 2 months of using the bios mod, I also cleaned out the fans and reapplied the thermal paste to achieve 80 degrees C for my gpu when gaming.
After about 3 months of using the bios mod(around September), I started to experience instability. It didn't really make any sense to me, and I noticed that my voltage was at .920V (according to Nividia Inexpector and GPU Z). a bit weird...Maybe the newer nividia drivers screwed with the voltage? My 760mhz overclock was becoming unstable, and I gradually had to clock less. The temperature seemed ok too (around 80-85 degrees C). I went from 760mhz core in Septermber --> 680mhz Core in October, November, December --> 650 mhz core in January). . In hindsight, I probably should have disabled the bios mod when i saw that the voltage had mysteriously gone up a bit. Instead, I just overclocked a bit lower. Around January, I completely disabled the bios mod.
It's now 1 year since I started to use the bios mod, and I decided to try it out again. I have lowered my gaming temperature for the gpu to about 60 degrees C to about 67 degrees C, and my CPU temperature is also a lot lower (from 85 C around 4 months ago to about 65 degrees C when gaming).Well, I still can't overclock it higher than 620 mhz. I've tried using Sharados's A16 voltage mod and the recent A19 bios mod (with voltage modification and without). When I overclock my gpu higher than 620 mhz for the core, the temperatures are ok (still around 63 degrees C to about 67 degrees C) I still can't overclock higher than 620 mhz. I guess the gpu kinda pooped out a bit from using the voltage mod for 2 months at about 90 degrees C and then the following 5 months at about 80-87 degrees Celsius.
Questions:
Does anyone else get this weird .920 voltage reading when using the bios-voltage mod?
What can I do to restore my previous overclock?
How is everyone's system doing?
About the voltage change
-I've noticed that any nividia drivers > 314ish seem to increase the voltage by about .02V. Yes, that means the newest drivers too. idk why Nividia would do this....I've tried older nividia drivers (factory Nividia drivers (285ish) and 302ish drivers), and these don't affect the voltage. i.e: voltage is .862 V which is normal. -
Hi,
My 2630QM break up, so i put Pentium mobile B950 on my L702X and computer starts but shutdown after vents go on.
I have modded BIOS.
CPU is visible in BIOS.
I tested another 2630QM and L702X works perfect.
Its kind of CPU whitelist? What can I do? -
-
ofc you cant just change the cpu to one that fits, there are only a few cpu's that would work that wont incrase instability in the system
-
Hey,
Is there a more detailed list of these unlocked bios functions somewhere?
Thanks -
there are many unlocked option in bios setup anyway, too much to be named, but there are a lot of interesting ones, specially in the proccesor and memory menus ^^

Thanks for - as always - quick reply. I am using your modded bios (earlier version - without Raid options yet). What I meat was I there is a place that explains available functions in greater detail. There are many options, but I couldn't find a detailed guide on what they do. I was hoping that through them I could get a little more out of my machine, but also my external monitor is flickering when playing games (HDMI more, HDMI->minidisplayport less), and I have the 3d L702x version (without optimus). Soo.... any guides on advanced bios functions. Also, do you think it's worth updating to your newest version (from the flickering standpoint)? -
@fixdgchd
mmm, as for the moment it isnt any avalible guide with all options, there are also many useless options.
best setup would be flash the latest modded bios, load setup defaults, and then enable fast settings and diagnosis boot, to see all th devices detected, and not just a loading bar without any usefull info.
also the memory speed is usefull if you want to set different speeds, also disable c states on proccesor and disable intel speed step would be good if you want the machine on max performance.
as for monitor flickering, I never had that issue.
anyway, I dont use the hdmi por on my machine, just the integrated screen and the minidisplayport adapter to a vga monitor.
anyway, at least in the L502X, the hdmi port is used entirely by the nvidia gpu, it doesnt even use intel graphics never.
so you have two options, try getting a cheap minidisplay port to hdmi adapter (this also will use the intel graphics)
or try tweak the nvidia drivers by installing the latest version and play a little with the nvidia settings at the nvidia control panel. -
@capitankasar
1. I already have a HDMI-> minidisplayport adapter
2. I don't have Intel GPU at all (there is a hardware bypass in L702x 3d version)
3. I have done everything possible with many nvidia drivers. There are some from distant past where the issue is minimal, but newer drivers means better performance
Is there anything new going on as far GPU bios goes? Mine is 70.26.40.00.05 -
Hi Guys,
Im trying to do a laptop to desktop conversion on my L702x (battery exploded, system needs additional cooling to function, case has mostly been removed, it will never be a laptop again )
I've been trying to find a way to boot my laptop without the internal display being attached. If I unplug the display from the mobo then boot I get 8 beeps and no boot (even with external screen attached over HDMI).
until I can disable this display check I cannot remove the internal display which is really annoying me.
Ive seen options in the IGD Configuration menu such as:
IGD - boot type - LFP
IGD - active LFP - Int-LVDS
but I dont want to disable any of them in case it disables my screen, refuses to boot and I cannot see what I am doing to re-enable the options.
Does anyone know what these options do and if they would help in my situation, or of another option that would help? -
Hello,
Iam using the A16 Bios with the 0,92V mod by Sharadeos.
I can run it at 820Mhz Core clock and 1000Mhz Mem clock. Temperatures are very good, so I want to push a little bit. I want to have more Core clock.
Is there a way to run the card with 0,962V? And is anybody here who knows how to do this or anybody who could make the modifikation for me?
I think Iam not the only one requesting a Bios with increased Voltage.
My System:
Dell XPS17 L702X
GT555m GF116 3D = without Optimus
i7 2670qm
I hope iam in the right Thread and hope you can understand me (bad german´s english)

I have L702X and i am on the A19 bios right now, does anyone still have a good copy of the modded one?
I tried all the links before and i get a 404 error from Dropbox saying file does not exist. I would like to adjust all my setting and move to a UEFI windows install.
Thank you. -
the links in this thread work ok, they are mediafire links

I run a 702x with the GF116 (555M). I upgraded the BIOS with the VBIOS too, and when my GPU runs at stock speeds I can see that I'm getting the appropriate new .92v (Hooray!) Whenever I overclock it drops back down to .87v (Boo!). I've tried various overclocking (Nvidia inspector, MSI Afterburner, Nvidia Performance settings, etc. all of them drop me back down to a power state with .87v
Anyone else run in to this? Any advice on what might fix this? Thanks, I'm able to run my 555m at 760mhz Core, and Memory at 1080mhz. Heat stays below 70c, so I know more power would push this chip even further. -

Hi for Everybody!
I'am hungarian XPS L702X owner, and I have restricted Intel VGA problem. Is there restricted by the CPU?
AIDA 64 report picture: Letiltva(in hungarian) = restricted
Can everybody help me to switch on Intel VGA or it is impossible?
My L702X has the A19 unlocked menus mod BIOS from this forum.

You have a motherboard that uses only discrete GPU to draw image on display, suppressing the Intel chip.

capitankasar how i can change the voltage and the splash logo? i have dump folder but i dont know decompress
-
@eresmalo
you have to use "phoenix slic tool" to unpack and pack everything back, when you have the dump folder, you dont need to decompress, everything is already decompresed, at least in my case.
for the video BIOS then look for 64 kb size modules, and open then with hex edtor or nbittor.
with nbitor pay attention to the gpu model, if you are not sure wich one it is, check also the product, it should specify the gpu board, there was three video bioses at the L502X one is intel one, other is the gt525m and the other is the gt540m
at the L702X I thim it should be similar, intel bios plus arround 4 nvidia video bios for all each GPUS in all motherboard revisions.
you can edit the voltage with the fermi voltage option at nbittor
p3 and p7 is for 2d iddle voltages, and p15 is for the 3d/gaming/performance profile.
as for the logo, check this awesome guide kpax did

Quick question about BIOS passwords on the XPS L702x. If I flash the modded bios that is in this thread. Will that remove the password since it erases the eprom or is this contained in a different section of the CMOS
-
Since I modded both BIOSes I asume the L702X is quite similar to the L502X, and at the L502X case, flashing a new BIOS did not removed passwords.
only way I could remove passwords at the L502X was to externally reprogram the BIOS chip with specific hardware. -
Thanks for the quick response, I do know that sometimes DELL will give the passwords out for free but not always. I was just hoping that since I plan on modding it any way that I could kill two birds with one stone. I'm an overclocker and this belonged to my son for university which he has finished so I figured it was fair game. So from your post I assume none of the other methods will work either like pheonix backdoors or just pulling the battery?

Sorry. My English is bad. And I sometimes use a translator.
I have a Dell XPS L702X. There are two hard drives. The first hard disk installed Windows 8. The second hard drive installed Yosemite 10.10.5 (runs everything except nvidia and wifi). Thanks to your BIOS A19 V6.
I read the message, and I found and replaced the picture in the file 0C7F41A9-0A6F-43F6-A0D9-1E2D01DBD7BE_1788.ROM
But tell me - what to set in the "phoenix slic tool" for repacking the BIOS ?!Last edited: Feb 24, 2018 -

Ur problem is there are no drivers for Win10 from Intel. Just let the windowsupdate to install drivers on it's own.
If u don't believe me, i have an example: synaptics drivers never worked for me (turning off when mouse plugged, or Fn+F3) until i clean installed win 10. Now it works like a charm. -

why is it that m intel gma3000 gpu is more hot then cpu itself ?
also why 2x a u sensor in the 1st place ?
seems the 53c is offical gpu temp acording to gpuz buut what is the other gpu temp sensor then ? o.o

I just wanna change the memory speed from current 1333 to 1600 MHz, so flashing XPS 17 non-3D to the mod bios A19 with GPU option and changing the memory speed in the bios will do the job?
I'm not a gamer, but I run multiple virtual simulators and play video at the same time, did it helps to improve performances by altering the GPU setting in the bios?Last edited: Dec 24, 2015
