yay an update for the ati driver!
does anyone know where i can get the camera software that came with the xps 16? the one on dell's site is different and the last time i downloaded it destroyed my computer. may have been a coincidence though.
EDIT: Man, I installed the new update and still cant get into my CCC. -
Follow the guide for ati driver installation on the first page. Do a clean installation. It is very important to restart the computer after the installation. -
-
The best i can suggest now is, uninstall ati driver from programs and features. Download latest driver sweeper from its official site and install it. Restart the computer in safe mode. Run driver sweeper and remove all ati components. Restart the computer and try installing the latest driver and restart the computer before running ccc. Hope it helps. -

What is the best audio driver for 1645? I heard people have had problems with the IDT driver in the past and said windows on driver is better. Is this the case? Also should I install soundblaster X-Fi MB? Right now I have the IDT driver in this thread and I'm listening to the speakers and the sound becomes extremely muffled and distorted even at 50% volume. One of the audio jacks doesn't even work and the while headphones and external speakers make it sound a little better, its still awful. Not sure if its a driver issue, speakers, or soundcard.
-
First: Remove the old driver, restart and install the one on this thread.
Second: Install Creative Sound Blaster. It worksand restart again.
Now there are 2 situations you can be, One is that the SRS Premium gets disabled automatically after the install of Creative in IDT Audio CP or it doesnt.
If it doesnt, Disable it first then go to regedit.
Go to the location HKLM/Software/IDT/APO/LFX/Speaker1/Plugins/SRS. Click SRS and on the right panel double-click load and make it from 1 to 0. Now SRS Premium will not be loaded at all even after a restart.
This is what works for me -

Could you please provide a link to the Creative Sound Blaster that was used?
Thank you. -
Hey folks, I'm having the same issue not being able to get into the Catalyst Control Center after having installed 10.12 off AMD's website. I've been looking around the ATI forums, and it seems like lots of people have had similar issues for a while now (some posts date back to 2008), but everybody suggests a different solution...
Has anybody had any luck getting their CCC to start correctly?

I do the standard way:
- Uninstalled previous ATI version with that version's Setup - Use Custom Option for Uninstall, unchecked (kept) HDMI Audio Driver.
- Reboot into Safe Mode No Networking.
- Run Driver Sweeper 2.8.0.
- Select 'ATI Display' in Driver Sweeper.
- Click Analyse.
- Click Clean
- Reboot
- Install 10.12 with Custom Install option.

I didn't see the changelog at first for the chipset driver or I wouldn't have bothered, but apparently I got it working correctly. I visited the Intel DownloadCenter website and ran the scanner tool, and it reported the latest version of 9.2.0.1021.
If you just double click the .exe file it doesn't do anything. If you use the -overall switch it takes a minute or so, tells you what it's updating, and requires a system restart to finish.
If anyone's interested, here's what to do:
1. Open the Command Prompt
2. Navigate to the folder where the chipset file you downloaded is located (put the file on the desktop and enter "cd desktop" for newbs)
3. Enter in infinst_autol.exe -overall -

One thing that I did notice is that the -overall switch screwed up my AHCI / Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers, and prevented me from re-installing them. This is a problem for those with SSDs. It was easy to fix though, you just had to download the "AHCI F6 drivers" from the Intel website, which are the RST drivers without the installer, and then manually install them through the device manager using the "Have Disk" method, after which the RST driver package installed normally. -

Just clearing ma doubts about this system... -
aLcH3m!sT said: ↑"Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers" Is that even necessary??? As that is screwing up my system's boot up to fully loaded state time... Right now it takes around 4-5 mins flat for all the drivers n other stuff to load... And is it absolutely necessary to install the option that comes during the setup which asks us to install a monitoring software that lies in the taskbar? (the one with a HDD and a tick mark over it).

For others who are having this same issue, uninstall RST, then manually install the driver above (in Device Manager, go to "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"..."Intel(R) 5 Series 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller" and do a "Browse my computer for driver software" manual install and go to the folder where you extracted the above and Windows 7 should find it and update it), and then do the full installation of RST 10.1.0.1008 and you should be all set. -
When u install the intel chipset, which one in Device Manager gets updated ? I don't see any Intel driver version 9.2.0.1021.. I did installed with -overall

Edit: I just installed this with -overall on my desktop with a C2D, and the only thing that it updated was the USB controller drivers. You have a 1640, also with a C2D, so maybe it's the same for you. It's likely that the drivers that it updates are specific to the Core-i series of CPUs. -
