So how'd you get the 5730?

Replaced under the issue of overheating and throttling. -
Did anyone manage to install and use I8kfangui on XPS 1645 and Win 7 64bit?
I tried many different solutions (for example:
diefer.de - Vista x64 Signed Driver Workaround
diefer.de - I8kfangui and Windows 7 x64 Solved )
and all I received was bluscreen after lauching the program (but it installed which wasn't so easy either).
Since I'm tired of it and I've read that it doesn't work on new DELL laptops anyway (I wanted to see for myself) I decided to ask before trying further..
Is there any chance this program (or any other) would work as vents regulator for DELL XPS 16 series? -

I've tried SpeedFan too. Older versions don't work, the newest one is supposed to but it doesn't start. I will wait for stable version and try again. -

Hi bipul_fx, The link for the chipset drivers is dead.
Can anyone please point me to the latest chipset drivers for the 1645?
Thank you.
I think I found it: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=19597&lang=eng&wapkw=(9.2.0.1025) -
Let us know how that goes, I think I've tried it but mine remains at 9.1.1.1022.

So..... do you folks think we're in the clear to use driversweeper again? Hopefully we won't run into any issues when trying to install Win7 SP2 (whenever that comes out).....
-
Why would you use driversweeper? Not needed since XP Sp0
-
The best thing to do do it just install the latest Catalyst version right over the old one. I guess I'm lucky driversweeper didn't screw up my SP1 install. -
The ATI driver itself installs just fine by installing right over the old driver (without using driversweeper). However, Catalyst Control Center will not open.... if I install the driver that way.
I find this to be the best way to install an ATI driver:

Where can I find the change log for the A15 bios?
Thanks =) -
A15 is just fixing Lo-Jack problem.. not really important
-
Its not even 2 weeks and AMD Catalyst 11.5 is out
. Nothing new though..
-
They are some happy people alright.....
-
Unless you have (new) game specific problems, I don't see the reason to upgrade to newer drivers on the 4670 any longer.

Updated to the latest ATi drivers... still working smoothly and fast
Sorry, I mean AMD drivers... need to get used to that -
I've been frustrated with Catalyst Control Center not opening (in the task manager, it opens and then closes immediately) for several ATI/AMD Driver releases now.
When I would use Driver Sweeper and then manually install the driver, things would work out okay... but I'm weary of using Driver Sweeper due to the issues that many had with installing Win7 SP1.
After googling it, it seems that the CCC not opening is a pretty widespread problem. Shame on AMD for not addressing it. I'll likely go to back to a laptop with Nvidia graphics if at all possible for my next machine....
I swear I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer! lol Other than that the CCC issue, I love my SXPS 1645! -
In the past I also had the problem with the CCC not opening. I believe just removing the "ATi Catalyst Install Manager" (ie this removes everything ATi/AMD related) and reinstalling the drivers after a reboot fixed the problem for me.

Has there been any updates in regards to the IDT audio drivers, which are unofficial on another forum?

Just curious, what are the advantages of the new Dell quickset?
It makes me nervous installing something that doesn't say it supports my system (it says it's for Inspirons and doesn't mention the S-XPS's). -

I need to get me some of that 1333GHz RAM

Good news for anybody experiencing the issue where Catalyst Control Center / CCC will not start / open / initialize! (I used all of those buzz words so that more people will find this post when googling the problem)
There is a fairly easy and quick fix! Credit goes to the following site for the fix: ATI Catalyst Control Center (CCC) won't start
I followed the steps on there and it worked for me!
Follow these steps (for Windows 7):
1) Uninstall Catalyst Control Center via Control Panel/Uninstall a Program
2) Restart in safe mode (by pressing F8 at the BIOS screen during start up, or by typing msconfig in the search box in the start menu, go to boot tab, select safe boot (wouldn't hurt to click the networking part as well), then restart your pc)
3) Navigate to C:\Windows\assembly
4) Sort by “Public Key Token”
5) Select all files with the token “90ba9c70f846762e” (ATI’s key)
6) Once selected, right click those files and select uninstall.
7) Reboot out of safe mode - (If you got to safe mode via the msconfig method, you'll have to run msconfig again and de-select safe boot)
8) Re-install the latest Catalyst Suite (available at amd.com or on page 1 of this thread for Dell SXPS 1640/1645/1647 folks)
9) You probably won't even need to reboot! (I didn't)
