    Hi

Just installed windows 7 on my M1530, and its looking good so far. I have a few unrecognized devices, listed as 'base system devices'. The Ids are :

    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_022E1028&REV_12
    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&SUBSYS_022E1028&REV_12
    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0852&SUBSYS_022E1028&REV_12

Does anyone know what they are? I read that one of them is the card reader, but i don't have the driver on the list in the M1530 64 bit page in dell support. Where can i get the drivers?

    Thanks

^ Try under the Chipset driver section and DL/install whatever is listed for both Intel & Ricoh. Be sure 64-bit is selected in the o/s pulldown. Even tho' 32-bit is listed it will still work.

I'm having lots of issues with Win 7 x64 and crackling audio issues. When I playback classical or operatic tracks I get lots of glitches in the tracks. The issues are player independent. I have tried Windows Media Player, Winamp and VLC.

Other than that, its all running fine so far.

I had the same problems. I pretty much tried everything to fix it. Tried so many different drives and nothing worked.

I'm back on Vista now because it is important to me to have working audio.

It only happens when you connect something thru HDMI e.g. your external display, right?

With my laptop, it happens only when my WIFI card DELL 1505 n is turned on. If I turn it off all the crackles go out and the latencies are in the green area of the mentioned software for measuring it.

I'm using this driver for the sound: http://files.laptopvideo2go.com/audio/st-idt_6224.0.exe

And the last Wifi drivers from 7/7/2009.

I just figured out that there are new drivers for wifi dated of 9/8/2009. I should try them.

nah, it actually happens through all ports. The DPC latency shoots up for no reason and crackles the sound.

And it also happens with the wireless on or off. I know about that issue. I have the Intel wireless N card anyway.

Hi. I'm thinking in install W7 x64 next days, but It have some doubts.

How about Creative Sound Blaster AdvancedMB, it works?

And the ProtectSuit QL, it works fine too?

All the other drivers from Vista 64 still works in @7 x64?

Media Direct works on W7 x64?

Anybody knows if Dell is thinking in publish official drivers to XPS 1530 and W7?

    Thanks a lot!

okay, on my notebook it only happens, when i connect my monitor through HDMI. As is use my XPS mostly standalone, the sound doesn't crackle at all. I have the Intel N Card too, but it doesn't matter if i disable my Wireless or enable it...

Nope. Not compatible with 64-bit at all, XP/Vista/W7.

Yup. Get the W7 specific set from Upek.

Pretty much yes. You should get the W7 drivers but if none are available (or haven't auto-installed via the o/s), use the Vista equivalent.

    Yup.

I've heard/read that Dell do not plan to release specific M1530 drivers since the model has been discontinued now. But that is merely speculation. However I'm sure there will be Dell W7 drivers for new notebook models that will likely work with the M1530. Let's wait and see once W7 is officially released @ home retail level and the influx of W7 support requests to Dell Customer Service ensues. ;)

    Thanks very much Signal2Noise!

I use the AdvancedMB with my Creative 5.1 sound system. Without this software, there is a way to test every single speaker? Windows already provide this funcionality?

We have to use the Protector Suite 2009, that is limited, or the 5.8 version works with new drivers? I don't like to use limited versions, because I use the password bank a lot :)

Which another notebook drivers you use with your M1530? I like my notebook very much, but Dell is poor in lauch new drivers versions, so I'm not waiting for this.

I'm scheduling my S.O. change because I don't have much time to do this. So, I thanks very much all answers to my doubts!

Upek has released two versions. One "limited" and another "full".

Only limited is avaiable for download: http://www.upek.com/support/downloads/windows7/learnmorew7.asp

I'm looking for the app in another places, and found one for Lenovo, but I'm not tested yet.

I have a folder of drivers that I used for Vista 64 bits. Does anyone know if there are any drivers that I should definitely need to get and replace my old one before I install Windows 7?

I find that the SigmaTel driver causes crackling and popping audio. It was most pronounced when I was conected to the internet via my Dell 1505 wireless card.

Anyways, I uninstalled SigmaTel and let Windows install the default audio driver. When I did that, the crackling/popping went away immediately. I think I lost a little functionality when I downgraded to the windows audio driver, but I thought it was worth it to be rid of the popping/crackling.

I should see if Dell has released a new SigmaTel driver for Win7 64-bit. If so, can anyone point me to it?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the tip!
I'll give it a whirl. Are you sure it is ok to use with the XPS 1530?
Are there any other Win7 Studio XPS 1645 drivers that I should be using on my XPS 1530?

    Thanks!

:( I don't know what went wrong, but that audio driver for the Studio XPS 1645 did not play well with my system. My 1530 became totally unresponsive anytime that anything tried to interact with the sound card. I had uninstall it.
    Bummer......

I would really like to find an audio driver that works well.

Could someone post links to all M1530 drivers for 32bits Win7 in a sticky, or the startpost? Would be very useful.

Fwiw, chances are W7 will install on the 1530 w/o any issues in a 32-bit shell.

Yes they do work got them on my M1330 XPS also installed on a friends M1530 no problem. The main reason I used the drivers from SXPS 1645was that the audio drivers I had worked ok but anytime I used Skype the audio was very bad to say the least..

    Hi,
Did not see any (or I may have missed) reference to the Media Direct partition.
I have Media Direct and Vista 64. I wish to maintain Media Direct.
So, how do I install W7 without removing the Media Direct?
    Thanks

CPU will be utilized to it's full potential & 64-bit provides a more secure environment. This has been documented in great detail across the interwebs.

If you do an upgrade then MD should remain intact as it is reserved onto it's own partition. If you prefer (and we recommend) to perform a clean install then you will need to first boot with the MD disc prior to installing W7. Follow this guide for more info.

Hmm went through this thread. Just wanted to ask a question , how many people here have tried out the 64 Bit Officially Released Version. I currently have a Vista x86 HP and thinking of purchasing the Win 7 X64 HP for my XPS M1530 but I am confused as to how compatible it is with the Hardware. Does it run as smooth as Vista X64 ( as far as the drivers and all is concerned) ? Is an upgrade to Windows 7 really worth it ?

If just format C drive and leave MD partition untouched, I think no need to use MD disc.

I too just installed Win7 HP64 and found a couple of problems. First was the fingerprint reader.. got to get the driver at UPEK web site. Next was the Bluetooth device.. after much seaching I installed a patch in order for it to work. It was a hit and miss installation. I don't understand Win7 didn't detect these devices during installation. But then again I had a problem with the bluetooth when I first got my gear with Vista.

When installing Win7 I found having a Lan connection while doing the installed found all or most drivers. BT best option is to have this on before you ran the install, I had no such issues for finger print reader but then again I had internet connection while doing my install. BT driver by Broadcom 6.2.0.8900 are good to go on Win7 for your PC.

Hi can i ask are the WEI scores for Win 7 HP 64 Bit lower than Vista 32 Bit? What should i expect to be getting? Im getting a 4.6 due to the processor and the memory is only 4.8, cant remember what it was in Vista. But they were all above 5.

Is it normal to be getting lower scores?

The scores in WEI for Windows 7 and Vista are not comparable so it's normal.
My laptop is giving me 6.0 for CPU T8300 and 6.0 for 4GB of 667 MHz RAM 2x2GB.

My question is: Has somebody found some Alps touchpad drivers that don't screw up the animated cursors in Win7 x64?

Thx Ben. Did you ever face this problem with the OSD not showing even though you are pressing the Quick Multimedia Buttons ?

For example when I play a movie using Media Player Classic in fullscreen mode , whenever I try to increase /decrease volume using the quick volume buttons neither the osd shows up nor the Volume is reduced. For the vol to really work U really have to left click on the quickset taskbar icon once or click on the volume icon on the taskbar. Then both the osd as well as the Quick Volume buttons would work . Wonder what I am doing wrong here. Please help.

Much thanks to Signal2Noise for the advise on Installing W7 with Media Direct. It worked fine with W7 Ultimate and XPS 1530.

After installation of W7 Ultimate, there is only one driver that has the yellow mark. Under 'Other Device', there is a 'Base System Device'. The property of this device is 'PCI bus 3, device 9, function 3'. Went to Dell site, found no drivers for W7.

Please help to locate this driver.
    Thanks
