    Depends which version:

The performance of the 96 shader version should be exactly like the GeForce GT 540M and the 144 shader version like the GeForce GT 555M

    NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M - Notebookcheck.net Tech

I should say when I put the "~", it meant to represent approximately equal but still faster :p

About 60-70% if they use the same screens from previous gens.

I don't recall Bill ever commenting on or responding to the numerous comments about the display. Which, along with the leaks of the past couple days, leads me to believe that those of us who fell in love with the current XPS 15's B+RG are in for a disappointment, and he knows it. I mean, I know he's not supposed to be detailing anything at this point, but he has not even vaguely hinted at anything as he has been doing with other aspects of the machine. And I'm not saying I blame him, either. I would be interested in knowing the reason behind the omission, though, if it comes to pass.

My guess is that the minimally-specced base model will start at 999 USD and that a max budget of 1200 will allow you a little upgrading, but not much.

If I choose to get one, I anticipate spending between 1500-1600 after sales tax and shipping, but I would want an i7 IB, the GDDR5 640, the best display, the best wireless card and Bluetooth options, a Blu-ray drive if available, and likely 2-4 more gigs of RAM.

This is my guess based on my experience configuring all the previous XPS models as well as multiple Alienware laptops.

I definitely think that Dell will have several scree offers. They know that the XPS fan crowd is into these kind of screens and know they would lose a lot of potential customers if they only offer a WLED option. I'm really not afraid of this.

I just read on Dutch tweakers.net there will also be a xps14 coming out. 1600x900 reso. Its rumored to have the same kind of styling as the new xps15. Next to that it should have hmdi (missed that on xps 13) glass touchpad and Waves MaxxAudio 4. Does anyone have some more info about this already? Or a possible release date. Hugely looking forward to this and the new xps 15.

We can't be sure, but it is better in every way, and it's been designed in such a way that there's no reason a current XPS 15 or 15z owner wouldn't want it. Except for possibly the screen and speakers. Usually, something like that would be considered an upgrade or replacement.

For anyone wondering about GPU performance, Anandtech just did a comparison of several, including the 650M and 630M (no 640), while playing Diablo III. Of course results depend upon proc and ram type, but it looks like you'll be wanting that 650M over all others.

    I think L521X replace both XPS15z and XPS15.
For me XPS17 will die like MBP 17", in fact is the only one with no news about successor.
The higher GPU in L521X is GT640 with GDDR5, so if there is still XPS15 with greater chassis, it will be use a higher GPU than GT640 (GDDR5), therefore it would go to compete with Alienware and it would be a game machine.

Interesting, AVAdirect uses GT650 with DDR3, so L521X with GT640 with GDDR5 could be very near :D

    I found some news from dell.com :D

Help Me Choose: Display | Dell

No present XPS uses gorilla glass, right?

If you see link (last 2 column), there are two XPS model with gorilla glass: XPS14 and XPS15 :D (this confirms that L521X replaces L502X).
So the news are that XPS15 have a display with 350nit and XPS14 have one with 400nit.
    Contrast is 500:1 for both.

There is some error in gamut line, no consistent value.

Very nice find, Mac. It's official. You can stay. Welcome aboard. ;)

Both the Anti-Glare and Color Gamut needs to be ironed out, but even at WLED, if they can match 72%, I would be okay with that and 350 nits and CGG. Not too shabby.

Some will find that that high/wide gamut panels (95%~ gamut) are too oversaturated and this panels need to properly calibrate or you will get pinky red and neon green.

For me 72% gamut (cover the sRGB colour space) is enough.
I hope Dell will use this high quality WLED LG panel as in Clevo W150ER.

I would definitely expect an announcement the first week of June. Dell Australia are currently offering 40% and 41% off the xps 15/17 and that offer ends May 31 even though they are calling it an end of financial year (June 30) sale.

How often does Dell laptop lines get a refresh or chagne components like processor or SO?? (I´m not talking about a whole new refresh like present ones, but maybe a new processor model like past XPS) I'm thinking in buy the XPS in november/december so I don´t know what would be the difference. Also, there be will any posibility that the new XPS's come with W8 around those dates??

I'm right there with you. They described that panel as "flawless" and you can't beat the combination of 350-400 nits with anti-glare for outdoor usage.

Still, I'll say this until I'm blue in the face and everyone hates me for it, I'm not crazy about the new keyboard. I'm sorry, I'm not. It may just be a deal-breaker.

Ok, I've got a question for Dell Bill! The xps 15 l502x had probably the best speakers of any notebook on the market (although hp envy owners may disagree). With the new xps 15 l521x being only 0.95" thick will it continue the great sound of its preddicessor?

Dell usually refreshes its laptop lines once a year with the latest processor and graphics cards. This year Dell is updating its XPS line with Intel Ivy Bridge processor and the Nvidia 600M series graphics cards.

Well....almost. German computer maker Medion (now part of Lenovo) made a beast:

    15.6" 1080p non glare
    i7-3610QM
    GTX670M 1.5GB GDDR5
    120GB SSD + 750GB HDD

    16GB RAM
    Subwoofer
    3.0mpx webcam

    all of that for £1100

72% color gamut is good as current mbp 15 has 74% color gamut and it looks really good despite it has a TN panel (of course their TN panel is highest of quality) but only thing that bothers me is the 500:1 contrast ratio even with a huge 350 nits brightness. That means the black levels are certainly not good! !
Is there any possibility of IPS panel in L521X? ( Tweaker.net has not mentioned)

Why not use the same screen as in the L502X? It is a 200€ extra, and people pay for it, so I suppose its not a cost issue.
The WLED screen in the screenshot seems to be an ordinary crappy FHD screen with a Gorilla Glass finish tapered onto it.
If this is the top screen for the L521X it is quite a disappointment...Dell is one of the few manufacturers, who offer consumer notebooks with a pretty good screen! The Inspiron 1520 had a good screen, the XPS1530 had an awesome screen, the XPS16 set new standards and the L501 had the same screen as the L502, which is fantastic...

Call them and they may be able to order the 1080p screen, the sales reps have a better selection than is provided online, this has worked for me in the past, it's worth a try!
