yeah you could be right about them announcing then releasing a month later....but announcing will seem like they are beating everyone to the punch....But who knows. I was sooo looking forward to a new Dell XPS in my grasp by mid June!
-
Ohh man I cant wait, will you be able to give a cheeky hint closer to the time?
I will need to be getting my finances in order
-
Any chance this new XPS will have a 670m or better graphics card?
-
Well hopefully all the new Latitudes have discreet graphics then
-
Well this makes the decision even tougher:
Vizio PCs officially launch in June, home theaters look on with envy -- Engadget -
If the 15th is your drop dead date, you should get the Sammy. That's a short term fix, IMO. If you can stand to wait, at least you will have another system to compare, and you might even conclude you were glad you didn't jump on the Series 7. I will say their stuff looks impressive, though. I still like mine better.[/QUOTE
my drop dead date for the xps 14 is July 1 in my hands what up -
May I ask Dell Bill about the appearance of the forthcoming models?
I was very close to choosing one of the bulkier models (L502x or L702x) this week...and then I saw this thread, as well as the one for the L721x.
Are the new models as hefty, with the same curves, which a fair few dislike?
Are they of the same thickness, with batteries giving that extra elevation? -
My next laptop is this or the XPS, glad to see a release date or details, been waiting since CES to hear some news. Wonder how the price point will compare to the XPS.
-
Ofcourse, I will wait for a week or two if Dell is coming something nice. Inspiron & Latitude are looking very nice, that's why, I am waiting for over 3 months
-
I believe it's not possible.
You can expect 650M or maybe 660M max. 670M is not possible in XPS -
These look promising! But who knows how they will actually perform until they are released and we get real customer reviews.
-
Based on my personal experience you can renew your warranty up to 3 months after it has expired.
In my experience, my warranty had expired early january and I was able to renew it early april so you want to look that way. However, as Bill said, you will also have to check the difference in resale value of a laptop with and without a warranty. -
i found a link with info about the 17" ; don`t know if it`s already been posted or not.
Dell Inspiron 7520 and 7720 with Intel Ivy Bridge | Hardware | Compix.org
guess no L721x.. -
Yes, it has been posted weeks back. No news on XPS & rumors are that it will be in July.
-
Are the new XPS laptops (14/15) expected to be user-serviceable in terms of replacing the hard drive? I have an SSD I want to put in my next laptop (otherwise I'm not sure I'll have a use for it), so I'm hoping if I get one of the new XPS it will be able to go there.
Not sure if Bill can answer that question? -
Bill mentioned that taking apart the laptop will not void any warranties (unless you break something) and this is made true by the fact that they post tear-down guides on their website. You will for sure be able to replace the hard drive even if it is not accessible by a panel.
-
Same as me... why cant Dell get their act together and release these machines so we can buy them?
With the financial year coming up end of June 30th what are the chances of the XPS15 being available by the 30th? Many people in Australia will be wanting to purchase before 30th to save on tax.
Dont really want to move away from Dell but as I said before I have to buy end of month at the latest. -
Me too, my pc is just dead
Well, let's take it with philosophy: the more time it takes, the better the new xps will be (maybe) XD
-
Well I'm about to pull the trigger for a Samsung 17" chronos. I'm very curious about the new XPS but I just need a new notebook for end of june as I'll be on vacation and want to seize the opportunity to enjoy a couple LAN parties with some friends, and it looks like they won't make it on time. Booh-ooh
-
haha i was just about to say the same thing about the envy 15, the new ones just released today bill and I regret to say I can't wait anymore for the xps 15.
Hopefully u can get the final specs/releases/preorders out during the 21 day return policy so if i really like it i can return the envy and get the 15 -
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?! NEW ENVY'S?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! (If you can't tell Im excited as F**K)
-
lol i cant tell if thats sarcasm or not but i am excited
-
Also I went to Best Buy and tried out the XPS 13........ I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT!!!!!! I really hope the new XPS 15 turns out to be like a Big Brother to the 13 because I love its build quality.
-
Genuine excitement
, just waiting to see if they changed the design. And if not I don't care cause I love it's current design as well.
-
no design change just a cpu+gpu refresh.. its the same bad color reporduction screen tho =\ yeah i like the design too
-
What, I heard they fixed the screen color issue already o.0. They're also advertising 9 hrs battery life, wanna see how that works.
-
Okay. Well that's good to know. The SSD is a 120GB Intel 520, so I don't really want it to go to waste. It's a bit small for desktop usage, but perfect for a laptop (for me anyhow).
-
well they released firmware which is there solution to the "best of their abilities" it lessened the effect but yeah... also they advertising 10+ so thats 2 hrs more than the previous one so hopefully we get a good improvement in battery
but lets not discuss the envy here feel free to join us here:
new envy
we dont wanna make bill angry
-
Oh wow hurry up dell, Sony has they're new vaio's with Ivy Bridge and they're pretty sleek and powerful
-
Yeaaaaah sorry Bill, just wanna see some XPS Ivy Bridge love.
-
Yeah......Dell is missing sales! HP, Sony, and others are beating them to Ivy Bridge sales. If Apple releases the next Ivy Bridge MacBook Pro next week all bets are off and I might just get that instead.
-
I really want that new XPS, but the new Envy 15 looks pretty promising. Especially with that 33% deal. Hopefully Dell can release and match that deal
-
which vaios?
-
@PaKii94: Where did you find new Envy's? I couldn't find.
Link please -
I second that: link to the new vaios and new envys please
-
oh my bad didnt c that the link above didnt work. The discussion is here: new envy and the new hps are on hp shopping site where u can configure it
-
The Muffin Man Notebook Consultant
Will everyone please relax?
Dell isn't losing sales to anyone, particularly HP, which only has a pre-configuration page that doesn't allow you to customize any aspect of an already sub-par machine. Dell will release the XPS 15 when they're ready, and Bill will answer your questions when he is given the green light to do so. If you have to get a new machine in the next couple weeks, buy something else. Stop making schoolyard threats of defecting. Dell is not going to speed up their release schedule because five or six of you saw a squirrel in the backyard. Chill, my babies. Pretend it's a Sunday. -
lol ouch. if we didnt care for the xps we wouldnt be asking haha. but u are allowed to configure the envy. I jsut wanna get the best deal possible and I dont wanna lose out on the xps
-
lol dude no one on these forums actually thinks Dell with release any product sooner because of what they read here!
Dell is losing sales....first to market equals first to the potential sale!
-
Not sure you know how the market works and how sales work... first to the market first with the sale.... as the guy above said.
The people posting here are a minority, and yet we have so many already looking at other options. -
The Muffin Man Notebook Consultant
Uh, no. That's your opinion, not any actual hard sales fact. Nice try, try again.
And as I said above, come up with actual sales figures that shows every single IB-notebook buyer scrambling to HP et al. and placing their orders as we speak. You can't. It doesn't work like that.
Don't look at other options, buy them. If you don't buy them, you're waiting for Dell. If you're waiting for Dell, you've proven my point and your point is moot.
-
lol you are too much....saying my opinion was well...just that opinion BUT now YOUR opinion is somehow fact.....so now crawl back under your rock and let the rest of us voice our opinions and speculate in peace!
-
Not all people can get laptops at the end of summer, some need to buy then now for various reasons. By procrastinating releasing any information about a product Dell is losing customers. Those that may be interested get disenfranchised and move on.
-
Is there a link to the new Sony's?
-
Sony randomly updated their site with IB! 13 inch s series and 15 inch s series- The 15 inch has all new i5 IB proccessors options or up to i7 including 3612qm with gt 640m 2gb. Basically its sony's version of the xps 15. They have a few different models with FHD display and IPS displays too- just go to their site and check it out. Im going to order one of these because I cant wait any longer.
-
Those S Series look pretty damn nice... Hows the performance of the 640m LE card?
-
I Believe almost all of them, S, Z, E and new T model. No more F series :c
-
notebook check says its about 20% slower I dont think they actually used and reviewed one yet, but we know for sure it will be slower than the reg 640m. Its better suited for "thin and light laptops".
-
Sony
The S series looks rather nice. I'd rather a 640M than then LE version but oh well. I'm in no rush, so I'll wait to see the new XPS, but if the reviews are good for the S then it will be a strong choice. Easily better than any of HPs offerings. -
Sony & Envy didn't came with refresh but just an updated processors/GPU. Lets see what Dell will bring in XPS. If it will be same design, it will be huge disappointment.
