Watch and listen with little care, you will find the xps!
-
The XPS looks really nice in that video
-
So I've been following this thread for a while. And I have my mind set on either the new Vizio or the new Dell XPS. *Sigh*, I will have to wait until they both release and then compare the two.
-
-
The xps will most likely have better screen, speakers but I bet it will be more expensive than the vaio. The vaio s15 is only $879(canada) for FHD screen, intel hd 4000,i5 3210m, backlit keyboard, bluetooth etc. I bet main stream sheeps will go for the vaio regardless of the red issue because it is pretty fairly priced. Dell needs to hurry up and release xps 15 their gonna lose lots of sales otherwise ; )

Anyone take a screen shot or anything of the video? I think it's changed? I seen it but when I replayed it it was back to an inspiron!
EDIT
Or download the video? There is an option at the top to download it. -

As a parent, I would not play around with school deadlines. I would grab the Inspiron R Special Edition set to launch in the US soon, or check out our competitors. If you go with a competitor, we'll hope to catch you with better timing on your next upgrade cycle. (Or you could send her off with whatever she has and ship the XPS to her a few days late. Had to try.)
Whats soon lol your killing me -
the video with the xps is on youtube: First Look: Dell's new Inspiron laptops - YouTube
and a question for bill (might have been answered before but couldn't find it): will de l521x have a thunderbolt port, or will any other dell notebook have one? -
Just a couple more screen shots including the back.

mother of god and all that is beautiful, that is one hot looking laptop (the xps 14 in the video that is). if the 15 has that same look im almost willing to buy it without even caring what's inside, almost...
you sure you cant bump up the release date a week or so for us devoted ones who've read through every post @Dell-Bill_B? -
-
That's more like it! Very sharp looking laptop I have to say.
-
I don't think it looks anything like a MBP and I mean that in a good way... That thing is beautiful and completely original!
-
-
Nice profile, hoping it will not be throttling festival and Dell engineers made a good job about dissipation also when the laptop is stressed.
Edit: what maybe i don't like is the black plate that do not cover all the basement but it seems it makes a ridge over the silver bottom basement -
If Dell releases an XPS 14, I hope it will have a 1080p screen. The XPS 13 looks nice, but the resolution is too low for me.
-
Well with the leaked video/photos there I have a couple things I want to say:
1. That thing looks awesome (and not mbp like ... at least when open)
2. Where are the ports?!?!? (we've seen 3 sides now I think and the only ports visible are a headphone jack and possibly mini display port). I'm afraid the left will either be too barren (hoping for more than 2 USB) or super crowded. Maybe there is some super covert port cover that I can't make out from the video? Here is hoping what looks like a beast and a looker will still be well endowed.
PS. Add another long time lurker of this thread to the list. -
Announcement or available?
Last week I thought the first time about taking Dell into account. After reading a whole week about "all" other companies failing to bring a product which meets my expectations/requirements ... I cannot wait to see what they (Bill - you) will show within the last week of June.
Edit:
Btw. I would prefer a Core i7-3667U CPU (+640m DDR5) to all other 35W CPUs. I am wondering why there is nothing in between 17 and 35W TDP :-/ Check this out:
Note that Core i5-2450 has the high TDP value of 35W in comparison to 17W of the 3667U. -

Between June 22 and July 1 has been confirmed in a previous post.
sorry i was talking about the Inspiron R Special Edition -
I am wondering if the prices will compete against the new HP envy 15's? With i7-3610qm, 6gb ram, 7750m, 500gb HDD, 1920x1080p for around $1100 with discount. The envy's look good.

Of course, there will always be the fanboys who insist that it is "another clone" of "Apple our savior", but what do they know? That's what the market is.
As a side note: I WANT IT NOW! That thing looks perfect. Here's hoping for a nice HD display, nice CPU, combo mSATA SSD and HDD and a average selection of ports: HDMI or MiniDP/Thunderbolt and USB 3. I don't care about ethernet (nor DVD drives for that matter); it just makes it thicker and who wants one of those spring loaded ports?!?!(see the port between HDMI and the USB) EDIT: Also, a touch screen option for the upcoming Windows 8? Yes please.
Hopefully Dell has learned from the issues of the past few XPS models (Wifi connectivity, screen door effect, touchpad issues, chrome trim breaking).

The new XPS looks like iPhone 4. And the price will be high. Don't like to pay for laptop where 70% of the price is for the "looks" and "quality" and 30% is for the internal parts and because of that, I'm out.
-
Will the new Dell XPS have both displayport and hdmi connections like previous models?

Tried to make an account a while ago but I kept running into weird bugs that didn't allow me to make one. Been haunting the thread forever because the XPS laptop seems like it will literally be the perfect laptop for me, as long as I can get one for under 1300$.
The only other computers that I might be interested in are the Sony that was just released and the Vizio laptop. Does anybody have a recent link of information on the Vizio laptop/availability on it? Or specs? I'm curious about that, and I swear I read a recent link earlier today about it, but I can't find it now. The Sony looks good, but do they still limit you to only drivers from Sony? I know with the last iteration of it, you couldn't update drivers from AMD, you were stuck with really old drivers.
Seems like I would either get the Inspiron SE, Sony Vaio S, or the Vizio if the XPS is too expensive. To Bill, does the 15 inch Inspiron have any Nvidia GPUs? I'm not a fanboy, but Optimus is so much better than Enduro, and 17 inch is too big for me
I don't think this is an answerable question, so as a comment: I really hope the XPS has a less expensive offer (Anything under 1300$, but 1k would be awesome) with dual core ivy bridge and other things like that, I don't necessarily need a quad core, so I wouldn't mind downgrading the CPU if I can save some money. The only game I play is SC2 (and LoL on the side), and hyperthreading accounts for anything else I need to do
As an edit: The XPS laptop is definitely the most attractive of all the ones I have seen. I think there are some similarities to MBP, (Although it's hard for the MBP to be similar to something that doesn't exist) but overall it looks much nicer than most I've seen. As long as there are no blatant throttling/heat/noise issues, Dell definitely has a winner imo.

One thing to note that nobody has pointed out with regards the leaked video and pic is the distinct lack of an optical drive! Not that I am really complaining too much, but it is interesting nonetheless.

I'm a bit disappointed that it's using the ultra low processors.
