I read that as, if we ask everyday, he'll probably not answer the day before. So ask him today :p

I think that the meaning is: the 22 he won't be able to say "no product launches for Consumer planned for tomorrow". So the launch must be 23!

I like the way you think. Except I really don't think any US company (besides AT&T) would release a product on a Saturday.

This is way too cryptic IMO!! Especially since last week (last thursday, on the 14th) he specifically said that it's in about 2 weeks time, so if it is in the 22nd then why lie and let us assume it will be on the 29th? That info seems more legit. Another piece of info is when he told us a while back that the laptop had been delayed a bit (confirmed by downlinx' NDA being pushed back a bit). He also told us that the people needing their laptop by the first week of July would barely get it, meaning that first deliveries would happen on Monday July 2nd.
I'd rather believe that it will be launched next week, on the 29th and be happily surprised rather than be all y and whine if it doesn't come out this friday! :D

Reading too much into that one I think. He is simply implying that whilst he cannot give a date for launch he will stop answering the question when it is time.

Agreed. This isn't the davinci code. I believe the release date will be sometime between the 21st and 28th. Anytime before the 28th is just a bonus.

Yeah just noticed they are available to order online in the UK. It also has crap battery life "up to 4 hrs" which is terrible for an optimus laptop.

A little bit of hope is their US price is $1449, and the UK version is £999. So I am still hoping for a decent config in the UK for under £1100.

I'm sorry if you felt we were being rude to you. If you have a question you can use the search feature on the site to answer it quickly as there is a high chance it was already asked. Also, there is a XPS 17 thread dedicated to the machine you were asking about.

    Welcome to the forum.

I would say it suggests he will stop answering the question tomoz, and therefore we can put 2+2 together which is the 22nd and Friday. As to if Bill answers in code, he has done it loads of times in here, so it is quite possible this is a very big clue.

@Bill - I'd like to ask you a question, related to the Sputnik project you posted in the xps13 thread.
Is there any chance I could buy a dell notebook without an installed o.s.? I know it's difficult, but I heard Lenovo can be quite accomodating in that respect, especially on the Thinkpad laptops.
I am a computer engineer student, and through a Microsoft partnership I have access to free copies of win 7 32/64. Furthermore, I'll probably switch completely to a linux sistem for everyday usage, since I'll be the only one using this computer.

i dont mind the size / weight of the Y580 but the dell just looks better
if the dell comes with good sound a killer screen and the gt650m im good ill even forgive the numberpad

as for the Y 580 number pad i prefer it there than to have wasted space around a centured keyboard a desktop keys are off centured because of a number pad ne ways

Is there some sort of rule on notebookreview that people completely ignore information in the thread when asking questions, or posting subjunctive clauses (e.g. "if X has Y, I'll be happy/sad/angry/etc."), regarding a product? I think we're good for at least 3 or 4 pages, though, before someone asks if the XPS 17 is discontinued :p

    XPS 15 is going to have a 640M w/ 2GB GDDR5 as the high-end option.

    None good sound

    btw.

What do people mean with size / weight of the Y580 compared to the XPS.
XPS 15 Weighs 5.9 lbs and the Y580 is 5.95+ lbs, imo this difference is neglectable.
Thickness is a other issue though :D

Could be the 22nd, as the 15R SE special ends on the 21st, when it goes back up to $1299... which would be perfect timing to release the XPS at around $1600+ (top model).

They will not use the 1080p of the current xps 15, but another 1080p that seems to be even better! (previous quotes)

Every single thread in every single forum on the web has this problem: people keep asking always the same things hundreds times, and other people just get tired of answering the same things hundreds times. And this happens also when the same thing is stated maybe at the previous page. Most of the times you don't need to read all 270 pages of the thread, it would be enough to read the last 4-5 pages, because the same things are repeated costantly. So if your seach button doesn't work, at least read some previous pages.. ;)

Been lurking for about 50 pages, thought I'd jump in here. To be fair, you need 5 "good" posts to PM, which is why I am putting this in here (otherwise I'd send this via PM).

@wallrocker: The titles you see under usernames are assigned based on graduated lists. This is typically controlled by post count and/or rep power. Those who post more have "better" titles, whereas those who start out with a new account have "newbie" as a title. This is not a indication necessarily of knowledge or even helpfulness, merely relative seniority.

I apologize if you were offended, as others here have done, but sometimes we all get irritated by repetitious questions. No one wants to be asked "are we there yet" over and over again, so eventually there's a snapping point. Unfortunately, your post was the snapping point. It happens. There's nothing personal, it just is what it is and everyone has seen it happen. I'm not sure if there's a translation issue, as many on here are not native English speakers, but please just remember to take it in stride. No member of this forum has any rights over the others. If you have an issue, report it to the mods with the Report function (red triangle w/vertical line under the username) and they will warn the user if necessary.

To the rest on here, please try to be mature. It's fun to troll and all, but can we try to keep on topic? I don't care if it's comparisons, LCD specs, or whatever... let's just get back to the reason we're on this thread.

I'm looking forward to the new XPS line and can't wait for the NDAs to lapse. My old Latitude will go to replace the old Inspiron my fiancee uses and I'll get a shiny new toy to play with! I really wish the screen was PLS, but I'll take a high quality TN in any case.

I wish the thread/topic starter or a mod would update the first post of the thread/topic with relevant info as they come up (or simply place the post/page number), that way when some user comes along and ask he/she's just told to go to the first page.. but then again some people would still find that too cumbersome and still ask the question :p
