Yeah I know, I guess on all other forums, facebook, twitter, whatever, there are so many arguments started over macvspc so i suppose it was just expected that he was trying to. And it does seem a little suspicious to see someone post on a Dell XPS forum page just to compliment a mac and say what the dell doesn't have. Soo...

    I completely agree.

Jessica Alba is hotter than Drew Berrymore. That's also my opinion. If you were to poll, I'm guessing maybe 90+% would agree with me. It's an analogous situation.

No. Jessica Alba being hotter than Drew Barrymore is not an opinion... that's fact. :p Let's be clear. That's not even up for debate. Of course with Alba you're climbing the Derek Jeter herpes tree, but that's a topic for another thread...

For cleaning the sticker residue - try to do what they do to clean gum up from carpet, etc - it's an aerosol that freezes it and then you can just gently scrape it off.

13" starts at 1199$, but we're speaking about 15", which starts at 1800$...with a chassis already proven to overheat, 5400 rpm HDD, glossy display, no SSD at all...any difference with XPS 15? ;)

Disclaimer: This is not me speaking on behalf of Dell. If you try this, and don't like the results, Dell is not responsible for cosmetic damage.

I've heard WD40 removes sticker residue without damaging the soft touch finish. I'll grab a unit and wipe some WD40 on it and see if it damages anything. Don't try this unless you've done it before and can confirm it works. I'll let you know my observations, which would still be covered by my disclaimer, even if I say "it works."

(Asking again, just because :p : Any releases tomorrow?)

So if the laptop is released tomorrow, when will it actually show up in retail stores? I'd like to try the laptop for myself before I actually commit to buying it.

Safest way to remove sticker residue is to use strong packaging tape. Stick it on the affected area and remove. Every time some residue will be removed with packaging tape. Repeat until you remove everything.

In case anybody is curious, Anandtech reports that the MBPw/RD actually has better temps than the previous generation, and they're actually pretty impressive. I'm surprised nobody has referenced it yet.

I suspect the new non-retina MBP will not have major issues with heat. Same chassis with a 22nm CPU and 28nm GPU should help compared to last gen. Its not likely to be a huge change. However, it should be a bit better since real world reports are that despite both parts having approximately the same TDP as last gen, they actually run a bit cooler.

it's one of the very few intensive games for osx... it's as good as any when testing throttling and temps, since it's not fps-capped. I don't know what loop thay are using, but I'm confident that hl2 can still hit the cpu for good with a decent number of colliding objects

EDIT: just checked, and it seems hl2 does not take advantage of multicore rendering.... so no, it's not that great

Same processor, difference is 4GB RAM.

Aussie prices are a joke, and there is a lack of customization that will be there in the US version, such as the 256/512GB msata's we saw in the spec sheets.

    I realize this is still the early-going, but I love how it's all-or-nothing. It's either 1TB @ 5400RPM with 32 mSATA SSD or 512GB SSD for $1,000 more. Where's the 256GB SSD only option?

MacBook Pro Retina with 650M and 256 GB SSD = 2499 AUD

    Dell XPS 15 with 512 GB SSD = 2699

More expensive than the most expensive mac?

    http://www.dell.com/au/p/xps-14-l421x/fs

Has the 14" models up too. Starting price $1,299 AUS o_O

I sure hope these are all significantly higher priced than the US models will be priced at. And why are they on other dell sites but not the US?

Also, anyone notice how theres only 2 options for HDD and SSD? hmm
