Oh, that is not a good news.

Today I took off the bezel and slightly unscrewed it lose, just waiting for the screen to arrive.

I have already fresh installed Windows 7 and the drivers, the latest NVidia one.

Hopefully it will work just fine(I think it should).

Just for kicks I installed the new driver (removing old installation) -- no problem.

i5 with 435m, mind you. AUO screen (and also note, my STOCK screen 1600 x 900 was AUO).

I received yesterday my AUO 1920X1080 V4 panel from studio technology.

I had the latest Nvidia drivers and everything worked fine (no need to reinstall drivers).

This is the second LCD shipped to me from Studio Technology, the first one arrived broken (most likely due to uncareful transport). Jue sent me a new one free of charge.

Glad to confirm the good reputation of this company!

Okay, got some more B173HW01 V4's on the way to the UK. They arrive on Monday 21st March, subject to delay as a result of the (sad) events in Japan.

I've gone live with the site too...kuzotronic.com - Would peeps mind giving me some feedback on the quality of the site?

I'm just uploading the product catalogues at the moment, as the range is a bit scarce. I think I'm being unique in including manufacturer specifications embedded within the product pages. I hope it's compatible across multiple browser platforms.

Any comments would be gratefully received.
    Cheers
    Lee

And he follows up very nicely and very responsive.
You can't think of him as a seller, perhaps an enthusiast trying to help you to achieve what you want would be better explained?

I think he should be officially registered in the first page of this thread as one of the "reliable" source.

    Thank you!!!! :D

Yes I am an enthusiast who went into business to help other enthusiasts out. I'm not here to make a fast buck/pound/euro. I really want to be part of the community.

I've tried to make it official with the website, but I'm an HTML amateur so you will probably see the site evolving every day as I learn new techniques etc.

If anybody has any knowledge of how Google works and improving rankings etc, I am willing to pay for some assistance. Anybody out there?? ;)

I'm ordering new stock every other week now. The problem is, by the time I have ordered and had a shipment delivered, all the screens have gone and I'm placing the next order, Ha ha...my store inventory levels are always going to be low.

But just get in touch whenever, my email is [email protected]

Thanks Redlance and everyone else for your support and loyalty!!!! Much appreciated. You guys ROCK !!!!

This is the best forum by far...I'm really pleased to be helping out and eternally grateful for all the help and advice I've received from other forum members.

Kuzotronic is a bedroom business for me at the moment (I also have a full-time job) but I really want to make Kuzo organic and grow it into a community source for reliable IT parts and upgrades (not just screens). "For the people, by the people" and all that. I'm just a geek...what can I say, ha ha!!!!

Peace and have a nice evening everyone!

I have looked at a few pages on this thread but since I'm too lazy to read all 62 pages, I wanted to know if someone can give me the website for Studio Technology. I ordered a L1701X in January with the crappy 900 screen and found this thread. I'm not sure if I have the expertise to swap out screens, but perhaps I can find someone to help me here in Colorado, USA. I understand the part to get is AUO 1920X1080. Thanks for any help out there.

    Hey smokingkid,

Perhaps we can arrange something where I send you a AUO V4 screen and if it doesn't work with the L702x, you can send it back to me at no cost to yourself (i.e. I will pay the return postage).

This would also allow us to know 100% for sure of V4 compatibility with the L702x and we can notify other L702x owners on the forum so they don't waste their time doing the same thing???

Just an idea. PM me if you want to discuss further.

    Cheers

It's a win-win situation for both of us....I'm getting a lot of enquiries off people asking me if the V4 screen is compatible with the L702x machine and I cannot give them a definite answer.

If it is compatible, you have your nice new screen and I get confirmation that it does work for future enquiries.

If it's not compatible, you haven't lost any money and I don't waste any money sending the screens out to L702x owners in error!!!!!

I've replied to your PM via email so hopefully speak to you soon.

    Cheers

If you do not need 3D, the AUO v4 screen will work as it uses the same 40 pin connector on the LVDS cable. The 55xM graphics will obviously handle the resolution with no issues as they are just rebadged 44x series with slightly faster clocks and the same DDR3 memory. Overall, the L702X display assembly is basically the same as a L701X on the two test systems we have here.

    Enjoy,
    Scott

    Hello,

I am new here and 1st posted question. Have been searching here on this forum on how to use my new XPS L701X by connecting my external Dell monitor. Have read somewhere that you have to purchase seperately a wireless unit to do this.

Can someone here with knowledge help me on this and guide me to some info here on the forum or maybe just answer if you have the info.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks for anyone's time.

    Regards

    Bill

The site finally has some stock in it!!!! Yay!!!

We are now on Google Adwords and I've also enquired with Notebook Review about getting some official advertising on here....nobody has come back to me yet however.

We have 3x B173HW01 V4's left if there is anyone left in UK/EU/ROW that needs one? Just let us know.

If you are connecting to the ext. monitor via a cable connection, there is no need to investigate the wireless push to TV display option, which typically does not apply to the i7 based systems.

If your ext. monitor (or TV) supports an HDMI input, simply use that for both video and audio. If your monitor is a standard display, it should have at least a DVI port. In this case, just pick up a mini display port (on the rear of the L701/2x) to DVI adapter... then connect that to your ext. monitor. You can get something like this on eBay here: Mini Displayport Display Port DP to DVI Adapter Cable | eBay

Sometimes, the system will find the second display automatically. If not, You can switch between each one or both by hitting the function + F1 keys or just the F1 key if the FN is the primary key function. I hope this info helps.

New here, I have not read through this entire thread only the first 10 pages or so and I wanted to ask can I take the LCD from my Studio 1749 (1080p) and put it in a L701X (900p)?

HWINFO32 says my studio 1749 screen is T197N€B173HW1

Dell wants to replace my failing studio 1749 with a L701X but I don't want to have to downgrade resolutions....

Also has anyone purchased LCD's from East Cost LCDs on Amazon? specifically here

I am looking at possibly ordering from Kuzotronic but I am in USA.

    Thanks for any help.

I was wondering the same; I have a L702x 900p and want to put in a 1080p screen. I'm assuming it's possible because the graphics card is the same as the 3D 1080p version...but I haven't seen anyone do this yet.

    Thanks!

Yes, your 1749 1080p LCD panel will fit fine inside the L701x. I have done a few 1748/l701x screen swaps. :D

I would proceed with your plan before you send anything back to Dell.

East coast sends "compatible" panels so I would not go that route. If you decide to get a new display panel, contact thumper300zx here and he will help you with a true AUO panel. He is in the USA and has stock.

Yes, it is possible based on the data I have here. ;)

The only real difference I see on the 3D display unit is the IR port below the screen on the LCD bezel to communicate with the 3D glasses. I may disassemble the LCD and take some photos if enough people request it. :p

As long as no damage is caused during the swap, they will not say anything as they are replacing a 1749 FULL HD system and you are entitled under Dell policy to the same or better system exchange. They will end up recycling many of the parts anyway. Regardless, I would at least make sure you return the same processor, HDD, and memory size configuration since that will be checked. The screen resolution will not (since people do break and replace display panels under normal use all the time).

Like any Dell part, the old screen has a Dell part# sticker on it so it is fine. Yes, they do check the more common items as mentioned. In the end, you paid for the systems and you can do anything you wish with them (within reason).

I opened up the L701X Bezel couple of times already and I always find myself stuck when trying to open up the bottom side of the bezel.

Somehow I do get to open them with some force but it is always a concern.

How did you guys open up the bottom side of the bezel? Any tips and tricks?

And I am also amazed that I have not broken any teeth(you know what I mean) while opening up the bezel even with some force but still scared.

Wow! What a difference! That upgrade is worth every penny.

I also recommend Thumper300zx if you're located in USA or in Canada, he gave me a great service. Thanks!

Yes, you will have a product sticker on the back of the LCD panel above the 40pin LVDS socket.

Guys, check out the customer service of this site, where I was goint to buy this screen here AU OPTRONICS B173HW01 V.4 17.3 DELL

In blue me, in red them.

    Greetings,
I am interested in buying a AU OPTRONICS B173HW01 V.4.
Is this panel a glossy/glare type or a matte/non glare type?
Also, I'd like to know how sure I am to receive the exact product that I ordered. I am saying this because I come from a forum that is dedicated to LCD panel swapping, and many users reported that various resellers did not ship the exact product that was ordered, but a similar or compatible one. And I was very surprised to see that even in your video guide on replacing the screen, the user receives a different screen from the one they were expecting. Therefore I wanted to ask about this before ordering.

    Thanks
    Dario

    Hello Dario

There are so many screens on the market that one supplier could not possibly stock them all, when the word compatible is used it merely means a different manufacturer will be used.

We do have this exact part in stock AU OPTRONICS B173HW01 V.4.

    Hi Suzanne,

Sorry but this reply totally doesn't reply to my questions.
First of all I asked if the AU OPTRONICS B173HW01 V.4 is glossy/glare type or a matte/non glare type, cause I don't see detail about this on the product's page.
Second, I don't know what to make of your statement "There are so many screens on the market that one supplier could not possibly stock them all, when the word compatible is used it merely means a different manufacturer will be used."
I am not concerned with how many screens on the market a supplier can possibly stock, and I am not expecting a supplier to have them all. And I do understand that by "compatible" it is intended a different screen from a different manufacturer. But what I asked is, if I order product X, am I gonna get product X for sure 100%, or could it be that you send me product Y which is compatible or similar, but not what I ordered, like it happened to other customers from other resellers?

    Thanks
    Dario

I got that, you already told me that in your previous email and I could already see that on the website.

The fact that you have that exact part in stock is a completely different story from my concern of if I'm guaranteed 100% to get the exact part if I ordered it.

    Both my questions still stand.

You could have replied something like this instead, and gained a customer:
    1. The B173HW01 V.4 is a glossy/glare type of screen (or a matte/non glare type of screen).
    2. Do not worry Dario, I can guarantee that all of our customers always receive the exact item they order, if that item is not available the customer is given the choise to be sent a similar/compatible item. If the wrong item is mistakenly sent, this can be returned for no additional cost.

Don't even bother replying any further, I am surely not buying from someone who can't even answer two questions.

Thanks for your time, have a nice day.
    Dario

What do you guys think about this?
