**Official Dell XPS M1530 Owner's Lounge**

I ordered a M1530 on 3/11 (with penryn), estimated ship date is the 18th, with next day shipping. So no early delivery for me looks like

 

Yeah, my final order date was 3/10 with estimated shipping date of 3/17. I also got next day shipping.

Finally i got mine

So far im very happy about this machine, i have only one issue - one of the touch sensitive buttons isnt working, its the one to get higher volume

Have anybody here experienced the same? Does anybody know a way to fix it?

 

Those touch sensitive buttons aren't the greatest - but if they all work except for one you may consider getting it repaired by Dell.

 

ok, its just that i dont wanna wait for like a month till. Im thinking about calling dell support tomorrow - lets hope they have a solution

They show 04/14/08 for shipping date, which is weird since it came out a few weeks ago. Maybe it's sold out...

 

My order has 2 different prelim ship dates if i look at it. the invoice itself says march 19th. but the screen before the invoice where it shows the orders says the 18th. when i ordered it and my order went through it said the 18th. I hope your right and i get it before this weekend .

I am in california and my friend got a latitude over the summer and his shipped from arizona and he got it 2 days later. So hopefully mine ships tomorrow and i get it thur or friday.

question: i ordered mine with just the one year warranty i prob want to change that now, can i do that without cancelling the order?

got my xps 1530, reformated, installed vista 64bit sp1, found all the drivers, everything is working good so far

anyone know if dell bluetooth 2.1 (model 360) will work in XPS 1530?

I found the part on ebay for about 20 bucks, its weird that Dell doesn't offer bluetooth 2.1 when you customize xps 1530.

are they just trying to get rid of the old 2.0 stock?

 

I believe you can request to extend the warranty. Wait until you get the computer then give Dell a call.

give them a call, I wanted to upgrade my shipping after the system went into production, and they upgraded me to NDA for free so they didnt have to cancel/replace the order.

Very frustrated. Website still says estimated shipping date 3/17. Hmm, that was yesterday. Just update the web page so it gives an accurate shipping date!

Should I cancel the order? Who makes an equivalent notebook?

I just got an email saying it was pushed to 3/22...

 

Just got my email to stating 21st.

Any alternatives to the M1530?

I cant believe you would cancel because they changed the date by a few days. The only weird thing about my order is i have 2 different shipdates. I think one was the original website shipdate of 3/18 and once i ordered and everything it showed 3/19. I ordered on 3/11.

I will let you guys know if there is any change or if mine ships tomorrow. It has said in production i believe since 3/11.

 

most likely not to even bash macs or mac people but that OS is so dumbed down, they almost think people have the iq of a rock so they had to design their os around that. that and they think becaise it has an apple logo you can overchange your customers by about 1000 .

BTW jack upon receiving my m1530 i will likely boot it up to make sure everything works on it for about an hr then format. once i format do i need to do anything to get say the media buttons to work again or does that all work after a clean install?

or do i just load the dell drivers cd (i assume it comes with 1) after and it has all that crap.

 

Although I got that email saying 3/22 ship date, I called the 800 number and the automated order status says that it is in the boxing stage. So I figure I will have it by Thusrday with the NBD shipping...

 

Thanks I'll call them once I receive it, I norm use AMEX to buy stuff this expensive and they cover me an additional 2 yrs. Right now my acer 5672 is out of warranty of im covered by amex and sending it to them to get it fixed/replaced. I just realized I only put 1 year on the dell and I didnt use Amex I figure I might as well cover myself with the Dell warranty.

Hello all. Great info in this forum.

Ordered my XPS M1530, Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T9500 (2.6GHz/800MHzFSB, 6M L2 Cache) on March 9th with a ship date of 3/18.

Today got a email stating my Dell order has been delayed to 3/21. Seems like several people got a delay recently.

Anyway excited to get it just hope it does not get delayed any further.

 

Just been reading a few other threads. Several people are saying the glossy upgraded screen is very grainy and not good for photoshop work.

I will be using photoshop and indesign plus the web and some gaming.

Can anyone who has the upgraded glossy screen give me some feedback?

Sorry for being late answering this one.
If you use the two CD's that came with your system, (OS & Drivers CD's) with the clean install, no bloatware and EVERYTHING works fine... at least it did for me.

See my review in my sig and you'll see everything your suppose to get.

 

Its not the glossy screen because all the 1530's to my knowledge have that. However Dell offers 3 different resoltuon choices. When they first released these choices samsung made an lcd panel that was known to have a grainy screen. since about january dell claimed to have dropped the samsung panels. Of coarse they had overstock of the panel so by now the samsung panels should be weeded out however if you get one you can simply just call dell and request a replacement screen.

But when i ordered on 3/11 the rep said they havent had the samsung panels for awhile and use LG.

I still havent got mine yet. However i just took a look over at that thread and it appears people are still getting the samsung lcd's. It may actually depend where you live as the last two seemed to be from canada.

From a quick browse at the thread again it appears if your order has shipped or you have already received it you can check your service tag to see what it is. So once it ships you can call customer service and ask for your service tag.

Maybe the dell rep lied to me, either that or it just depends where you live.

 

Well this saga started back on 3/4 when I first ordered. Long story but a few more days is actually wearing me thin. I'm replacing a 9300 that has been down for a month before I ordered, so them asking me to wait 3 more days feels like another month.

 

well i dunno why your guys got delayed according to the dell website mine shipped today and was prelim to ship today.

 

Mine was supposed to ship today, but instead of a tracking number, I recieved an order delay email 3/24 new date....

 

Maybe it is the T9300 that is causing the delay.

Mine has been in boxing since yesterday morning. I have Next Business Day shipping so hopefully it will ship today...

Since they build these things in Asia, do they ship things out during the day or will we only notice activity overnight (our time)?

 

mine has been in boxing for three days and i ordered on 3/10. says i won't get it till the 28th. guess i got to play the waiting game

 

Yeah I think that's the same for mine cause someone ordered their 1530 on 3/16 with me and his I believe shipped yesterday while mine is still in the building phase. I ordered the T9500 I believe for the 2.6 GHz Penryn. My's scheduled to be shipped on 3/24 if not sooner hopefully.

 

I ordered the T8300 so maybe its all the Penryns?
