One of interesting snippets he mentioned in the video was a plan for additional color options after the holidays. Black would suit me fine, but I'd be tempted by a nice deep and rich blue.

I was told that the FP reader was an option (by a trusted source), but I think he may have been wrong. There isn't an option for it AND on the 1330 configurator it is now a free upgrade.

Yep.. was posted yesterday.. great graphics and performance but so so battery life (1 hr 28 mins on DVD playback)

CNET still gave it a Editor's choice though.. Obviously a good choice for a gamer.

I am sure you could squeeze another hour with the 9 cell :)

One question that I couldn't figure out from the Dell website:
Is the blu-ray disk drive just a BD ROM (read only) drive or can I "burn" BD's with it?

TV tuners, help you to watch/record television on your notebook, using the provided antenna. You can also connect your cable or satellite connection if you desire to watch/record them.

TV tuners that can be bought with M1530 are external USB TV Tuners. You can always buy them separately.

Wow, thats kind of cool. So say I had to work and i was going to miss my favorite show, I could record it on my laptop? Would I pay a monthly fee or something?

I'll have to look into this when i get the Dell Giftcard.

    Thanks for the responses :]

If you need the high resolution screen, you need to call and order. There is no way you can order it over the web for now. It takes a few calls to get it to the right salesperson who can do this for you. Unfortunately the high resolution screen costs more and will be delivered in March 2008.

Update: I heard my friends getting confirmed orders for 1440x900 resolution CCFL to be delivered before end of January 2008.

    You need:
    200 Pin
    SO-DIMM
    DDR2
    667 MHz
    1.8 V
    Non-ECC
    PC2-5300
    Memory Module

This works great: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208341 for less than $100 for 2 x 2 GB Modules

Here are the instructions to upgrade the memory modules: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/xpsM1530/en/SM/memory.htm#wp1180190

Yes, the power port is on the left side but it doesn't get in the way. If you have used a power port that is on the back side of the notebook, it will take some time getting used to it.

So, just to be clear, the high resolution screens should be available and delivered within the next month? Do you know any more details, as in if the LED backlit screens will also be available, or if there are higher resolutions?

half price 1530?? how did you do that??

i ordered mine on 7 dec, anticipated delivery date 18 dec, got a call saying it was coming on 17 dec, and it didn't arrive on that day. then i get an e-mail saying it's been delayed until 27 dec - so i call dell to ask them what is going on? they said they'd call back, never got a call.

and then the laptop turns up on 18 dec (as originally expected!). a bit annoyed that they give you the runaround, but very happy with the timing overall (since when i ordered it, the website said it'd take 4-5 weeks!).

very happy with it so far - still yet to fully explore it though.
