Make that three dell reps. I just got off the phone with customer center and they told me my order wouldn't be furtherly delayed and that they can assure me the order will be arriving at 9th at most. They even apologized for the delays. I was about to hang up when I asked about the delay and they played the "We are backordered on a piece of the laptop" excuse.

Of course, this mean nothing to me, since I have been told sooo many things this week.

I wonder, when will the "Aliens abducted our XPS 1645 fabric and we are backordered because of that" excuse come to play. It's a matter of days... as always...

Its actually a GOOD idea to call them. I was cancelled on Oct 31st and given several different reasons why. I called today to see what was up since my order has been "Order Processing"for 2 days and they informed me my order was on hold. This is the new one that THEY placed for me. I never got an email or call regarding this.

Anyway, after an hour and a half of transfers and hang ups. One of the reps told me my original cancellation was due to an incompatible part number and also told me my order was on hold. For those who have a Dell card and get cancelled/reordered.. make sure you call asap as they do need to verify info to continue processing the order.

The same dell rep who told me about the "part incompatibility"also told me now that all parts for the 1645 are in stock and it is shipping and not to worry about my 11/30 EDD that the order should be at my house well before that. We'll see.

    Ordered 9/29

Original EDD was 10/28 which was updated to 11/4.

Like most of you, I am also tired of waiting' and hope I get it on Wednesday.

Everybody has been told this. I've had two orders with Dell made on Fridays and it stays in processing for two days (weekend) then in production on Monday.

I ordered an XPS 16 with the i7 and RGBLED screen on 10/22. I went to best buy that same day to try and find a nice laptop but they had nothing so I ordered online. My EDD is 11/16 and has been since the day I ordered it. I ordered the RGB screen but for some reason on my order it says WLED...I was reading some of the posts on here so I decided to call Dell and ask about the status of my order and the screen issue. Well after being transferred between the customer care, sales and tech departments atleast 5 times(having to give my order number, name, and address every time) I tell this guy who I can barely understand that I ordered the widescreen RGBLED screen but that my order says WLED he says "sir, it says WLED, W is for widescreen." At this point I realize this guy has no idea what's going on so I hung up. I tried calling this "Team Jaguar" everyone keeps speaking off, but they told me to leave a message and they would call back, I did this afternoon, but nothing yet. I'm a bit optimistic since my EDD has been the same since I ordered, but it seems like the actual Dell reps I talked to had only the same access to info that I can get on their website...it's a bit ridiculous...If it gets delayed I don't know what I'm gonna do. I don't want to go through a month of arguing with dell about payment, just to start all over somewhere else. Anyway if some1 receives their computer pleeease post it and gimme' some hope. Sorry for the long post haha.

Danny, I would really verify that it was put through as 'RGBLED' because there is a difference between 'WLED" and "RGBLED" and yes their customer service is very frustrating. But I'm in the same boat as you, I ordered 10-19 and my originally EDD OF 11-13 hasn't changed YET lol.

You guys who got their order cancelled and then re-ordered, I wouldn't worry to much. Check this guy:

    Link

It happened with a 1640, though I suspect the same thing could happen with your 1645. He got his order cancelled after a month and after 6 days he got his laptop.

Actually you can. I thought the same thing at first. Go to the EPP home page, click browse laptops, then click the blue i7 banner on the left. Crazy expensive though. Minumum config is over $2k!

$2K! You might as well buy a M15X for that price. better graphics card. Heck, you might get that this week. My original order, like most who ordered end of Sept, cost $1300 (with blueray and FHD led). How about this for Dell, build one in your lab, run some tests on it. Make sure it works, before you sell it.

No, the CPU isn't soldered. Unless you know that your software is CPU limited, upgrading the CPU yields no performance benefit.

You probably can't get it anymore. As noted in the previous posts, they decided to revamp the page today or a few days ago.

This is probably in relation as to why no one has received their orders -- they probably had to pay extra to restock (here's assuming they are actually out of stock on a part).

This pricing is still available, you just have to know where to find it! ;)

Plus, not mentioned, includes a 2 YR warranty!

Check it out here. Add the RGBLED and Bluetooth for a total of $1569.

(edit: this link gets you a darn cheap WLED 1080p unit, too!!)

I ordered on October 5, with an EDD of November 4. This morning the order status page showed an updated EDD of November 10. As far as I can tell, they didn't cancel and remake my order, they just delayed it. Definitely not a terrible delay considering others who ordered before me have EDDs after me. But who's to say that my EDD won't get delayed again closer to the 10th? Oh and Mr. Manager didn't call me yesterday like he said he would. If he calls today or sometime I will post what his reason for the delay is.

I order September 28. My original arrival date was October 28. they changed that to November 3. Today is was changed to November 10. I called Dell Yesterday, and they said I could pick out anything on the site for up to $100 dollars and they would send it at the same time as the laptop, I could choose something on the site or receive a $100 coupon. I have something in mind that is over $100 so I took the coupon. Not bad compensation :)

Not a terrible thing until they cancel and re-order. This is what happened to people who ordered on late september. They got the RDD mail and then a week later BAM, cancelled.

Although I have been assured now 2 times, the laptop would be here before or on the RDD. I still don't expect it for the RDD.

That's a great config. But I realized now why everyone has a cheaper SXPS 16 than me: the warranty. 3 Year w/ Complete Care is ridiculously expensive!

Not to gloat, either, but even if I bought again now, I'd be paying well over $200 more than I did the first time.

I just checked the status of my order, which was placed on 10/6 with an EDD of 11/9. Yesterday, the phone system and the rep I spoke to said the EDD was 11/9 and it would ship today. Now, the phone system says it's in the build stage and "that's all the information I have." The rep I spoke to said "some parts are backordered" and my new EDD is 11/16. I told him that i know of several other people who ordered this computer with EDDs after 11/16 and asked what the odds of this getting delayed again are, and he said "well, it's not a guarantee, and there is a chance it could be delayed again."

A delay is one thing, but with what I know from this board, and the fact that the a-holes didn't give me any notification of this change, I'm pretty pissed.

Well I been trying to get in touch with my work's Dell Rep. He is currently out of the office until Thursday. I did call Dell's Federal Government number and spoke with a rep. He stated that the reason for my delay is due to the processor and the memory modules. Not sure if this is true or not as I am taking everything from Dell with a grain of salt. Now I asked him if he can confirm that my order will be high priority and expedited as they stated in the email of them canceling/re-ordering my laptop. He said that he spoke with the manager and they have put my order in as high priority due to being ordered well over a month ago and due to several of the delays I have experienced. I also asked him if the laptops will be configured with Windows 7 and he said in order to do that, they will have to re-cancel my order to reconfigure it.

Garrett, we're all being told that we're high-priority.

Which really, when you think about it, means that we're not high priority at all since we're all in the "high priority" queue.

This is frustrating. I want my XPS 1645 but because of all this crap I cancelled my order. And still a month later, no one has theirs either AND prices in Canada still suck as much as ever. Dell Premier (closest thing to EPP) is more expensive than regular dell.ca - which is BS. *end rant*

    I already canceled my order....But...

I received a call this morning (at about 7:45 PST), by some manager at dell asking me if I wanted to reconsider my order due to the fact they finally received their shipment of i7s.

I don't know if this is b.s., or something good for those that are still holding out for the Studio XPS 16. Best of luck getting it soon if they truly do have all their components!

    Hi
Initially I was very exited about getting the sxps 16 rgbled but now I am unsure. I have done a fair bit of research then found these forums. Now all I can hear is bad news,
RGBLED not spot on colour wise, overheating, clunky hard drives, dust between screen panel, bad bios upgrades etc etc can anyone persuade me to part with my £1100 as I am getting seriously cold feet!.

I would suggest either looking elsewhere or waiting until someone actually receives their notebook. At this point, Dell is stalling for time and being incredibly unprofessional.

You have got to be kidding me. 120 pages.
I ordered 10/1/2009 EDD was 11/5/2009, after a month of waiting, it went to an EDD of 11/30/2009. I chatted 2x this weekend, and they were totally useless. I called yesterday, and left a voicemail (2-4 hours is their response time). I have 2 reps, and finally emailed them 4 hours apart. Nothing, no call backs, no returning my emails, nothing. Does Dell even exist anymore?

My order was not cancelled, and I was never called about anything.

Mr. Manager called me again today, and confirmed that my order should be shipping next Monday or Tuesday and does not anticipate anymore delays (where have I heard that before? ). But he did apologize and is sending me a $100 Dell coupon through email. Don't know when though.

I hope so. I ordered on 10/3 and I was supposed to get it 11/2 now I got moved to 11/9. I called and asked about my SXPS and they told me it was shipping on or before 11/9. We should be getting a shipment notification soon this week.
