I've lurked for a long time at these forums. I'm also in the ordered 9/28 delayed to 10/27, delayed on 10/27 to 11/3, then order cancelled and resubmitted with new EDD of 11/24.

The thing that sucks is that when I originally ordered there was a promo going that I was going to get a free $100 gift card with purchase of the laptop. Now that Dell has resubmitted it, the gift card disappeared.

I know people are saying don't email them because it's useless, but can someone post the email address for their customer care? I figured I'd give it a shot.

What if we start making pressure on one dell rep in specific? That way they might find it odd and start doing something?

It'd be interesting too, maybe he/she has different excuses for each of us.

I am hoping that they are getting closer to shipping, I am noticing though that they are pushing orders back only a week at a time, not a month at a time like earlier...keeping finger crossed.. My EDD hasnt changed since I ordered it but to be fair, it isnt suppose to be here til the 17th even though I ordered it October 26th

Sure...we all ordered a particular laptop and Dell thinks it funny to give everyone different excuses why their laptop is being delayed by weeks and even months. Noone here has yet to receive a notebook yet so we are all here for sympathy support until the first person gets theirs...it is quite maddening but I think Dell is going to lose alot of customers, more than they already have. Oh, and whats even better, they wont let some people cancel the orders...hows that for a good time... Welcome to the waiting room.

I've been looking at purchasing this laptop for a while now, but after reading through this thread, I'm holding back until the situation improves.

I was just wondering though, is anyone ordering from Canada and experiencing the same delays/problems, and does anyone know why there is no bluetooth available on the Canadian systems?

    Thanks

If You have been delayed past the one month window you can cancel regardless of what they say. Look back many pages for the FTC link. It would be illegal for them to keep delaying without your consent. I strongly suspect the canceling and resubmitting of orders is illegal or at the least unethical.

Simply, call and keep talking to managers and quote the FTC regulations. Email and certified mail them that you are going to refuse shipment. Then let them bill you. You should win in small claims if it comes to that, no problem. Just keep records.

They are violating the law which is one reason I will never do business with them again. They are also pretty flagrant about it.

I am not a lawyer, but it seems rational to me.

At this point there shouldn't be a delay. Some of us got screwed because we order really early, some ordered next day the promo came out.

Personally, I dont want to say that I dont mind the delays but I would rather them (Dell) get the laptops correct rather than sending out screwed up machine and then we have a rash of them going back to dell and have to wait months longer to get the fixed because they didnt do it right the first time..I was going to cancel mine but I think I want to be part of the Joy everyone is going to have once they START shipping out...gonna hang in there.

    Me too...

    Ordered October 1st
    Original EDD: 10/30/09
    Revised EDD: 11/03/09
    Revised Again EDD: 11/09/09
Cancelled on 11/03/09, New EDD: 11/30/09....

Now that they re-ordered it sounds like it will be a nightmare to try and cancel... I need this before Thanksgiving and it shouldn't take 2 months to get a laptop, again, this should have been stated as a pre-order with a true estimate. We definitely all need to call and get some kind of compensation, this is effing ridiculous!

    My giftcard is still listed:
    1 468-3735 $100 Dell Promo Gift Card - Arrives in 6-8 wks, carries a 90 Day Exp. Dell.com/giftcard

And this is terrible, here is the email I received to inform me today:

    Dear XXX XXXXX,

We had to make a change to your order due to a Dell operations request. Due to web page error the original order did not quoted with the correct sku number for Intel® 5300 WLAN Wireless-N (3x3) Mini Card. Therefore, we had to cancel your original order and resubmit the order with the correct sku number.

Here is your new order #XXXXXXXXX

If you would like to check the status of your order, please call Dell’s automated order status enquiry system at 1-800-433-9014, or visit Dell’s Order Status page at: www.support.dell.com

Once your order gets In Production status we will submit a request for expedite.

Thank you for your patience and understanding and please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.

Agreed...almost to the point that I thought Dell was getting ready to cave and was just trying to pad their books in order to sell the company. They dont care what they do and who they do it too...I now know how a Giant Company can go face first into the ground...BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Yeah me neither, waiting for W7 was a killer. I started school in Aug and have gone without a notebook ever sicne. Its not easy. But I'm looking at it like this. My original EDD of Nov. 13 still hasn't changed so for now I'm staying but if it gets delayed then I'm canceling. Then gonna go with the HP Pavilion Dv8t.

According to a few Dell claims they have gotten in i7 components now. We'll see...

I am wondering since it is taking so long to get this laptop, am I going to lose a month or are they not going to actually bill my account until this ships...and when was this 100.00 promotion, I must have missed that..I ordered mine on 9/26 EDD 10/17

You will not lose the 12 months interest free promo, and you will not be billed on your Dell DPA until your system is readied to ship. :)

soooooo, I just got off the phone with a dell rep, here's my story for anyone who's still waiting.

I ordered on 10/6 with an edd of 11/9. I was told of no delays or updates. I got a little nervous with all the posts here and since I had the "bad" wireless card part number (2955). When I called yesterday, the automated system and the rep both said there were no problems with my order and that it would ship today, to be delivered on 11/9.

I logged in to the web site to check the order status this morning, and nothing had changed. I decided to call just to be safe and the automated system only listed my order date and that the comp was in the build stage. I spoke to a rep, who said that my edd had been moved to 11/16.

I was pissed, but willing to wait since I have a laptop I can use temporarily. I checked the order status online about half an hour ago, and the status was listed as "changed" with no shipping method or EDD listed. I immediately called the service line and the automated system said my order was canceled. When a rep got on the line, I asked what's going on with my order, and all he could tell me was that the order had been canceled. When I asked why, he stammered some obvious official line about how there could have been incompatible parts in the order. He offered to place a new order for me (what a nice guy ), but had nothing to say when I said I wasn't going to wait another month for my computer.

I was then transferred to the DPA (financing) department to close my account. The genius transferred me to the business DPA department, who couldn't help me and hung up on me while trying to transfer me to the right place.

I'm seriously pissed. No explanation, no "oh I'm so sorry, I don't know how that happened, we'll make it right." Nothing. Oh well, maybe Asus wants my money. . .

I actually had a thought as I was typing this: my dad has a small business with seven dell desktops that are almost 5 years old and due to be replaced within the next year or so. I wonder if I could use the potential loss of his account as leverage.

Well, I place my order on October 1st with a Dell EPP rep and my order has this so called "bad" wireless card (2955), however mine has yet to be canceled or changed. So I do not know what to think about this situation?

I ordered on 10/19 and the EDD was immediately set to 11/13. So far no delays, no push backs, but mine is still listed with the 2955 WiFi card.... not sure if this is going to effect things as it gets closer to the EDD.

It seems to be as soon as you hit the day AFTER your 30 day mark, they are changing cancelling and re-ordering with the new part number. I was hoping I was safe but I got hit with it too. You might want to call in and check to help get pushed to the re-order line.

I still plan on calling tonight and trying to get something as a reason not to cancel... I really need a laptop now but the deal on this laptop that I had is too good... Too bad I couldn't get them to upgrade a part on my laptop, they'd have to re-order again, screw that. (Wish I had added bluetooth or bluray to the laptop, but I don't need either and I can get a bluetooth adapter cheap, I didn't pick the one from Dell because at the time I ordered it said it was USB anyway)

lol..It took them an entire month to find out that the SKU was wrong?

I just got off the phone with a guy in customer care but I got the same official rhetoric. I kept trying to get him to transfer me to someone higher up the ladder. It's like infiltrating a base. Supposedly, if you believe him, he says that all the parts were in stock. But now that I think about it I think i talked to the same guy 2 weeks ago and he said they had all the parts in stock, so yeah, they're just reading a piece of paper.

I think it's called humor and while it may or may not be the funniest thing you or I've read today, it definitely is a refreshing change from the seemingly endless posts of EDD's and the "I called Dell and they said..." posts. You know, kinda trying to lighten up the forum a bit and give a chuckle?

Plus, I think he only posted ONCE, so he's not what I would call spamming!

Hmmm...now...who was it that said this was a discussion thread so everyone was welcome, and if you don't like it, don't post? ;)

Guys I hope you don't think I'm spamming the thread with my responses haha. I just checked online and my order *gasp* has been cancelled.

    And replaced.

    HOWEVER!

This new order has 6GB of DDR3 RAM, whereas the old order only had 4GB.
It also has Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit listed as the OS.
Also, it has the "correct" part number for the Intel 5300 card.
Everything else looks to be the same.

    Aaaannnnd there's a downside:
    First EDD: 11/4
    Revised EDD: 11/10
    Current EDD: 12/2

Also, I had next business day shipping on my old order, but this new one has 3-5 day shipping.

I think I can tough it out for another month or so :).
What am I going to do with 6GB of RAM? Haha if they were gonna add an extra ~$300 of upgrades, I'd rather them put in a Blu-Ray drive.

You and I are in the same boat, same card and order date. Ordered October 1st. They told me 11/5 EDD, now 11/30 EDD. But I called the Number posted above, and the automated tell said that it was in the build stage. I have not been canceled/reordered, just the option to opt out if I so choose.

I have been so close to canceling. The Envy 15 looks pretty good and is AVAILABLE NOW.

No website update saying it is in the build stage though. hmmmm

Myself and my partner have 18 Dell machines in our business... it made no differance. I am sure they just dont care.

Did you get any kind of notification that your original order was canceled? Was there a delay between them canceling your original order and making the new one. Maybe I'll wait a day before canceling the DPA account and see if they replace my order.

Agreed, Dell appears to me to be the kind of company who tagline should be "What have you bought from me lately". I dont think they care about what you bought earlier but what your buying now...Loyalty means nothing in this day and age.

Strangely Enough...I called the 800 number (again, thanks Nick) and it said my machine is in the building stage and according to the progress it should be here 10/16 but the web says 10/17. That has got to be a first, actually a day EARLIER than posted. However, mine had the correct WIFI card from day 1 but im not close enough to the shipping date for them to cancel and reorder..time will tell.

Just a little update, I'm currently on the phone with them. He hasn't seen that my changed/cancelled order had been re-ordered, so he's reconfiguring it now. However, he's going to 100% match the price of my previous order, AND, like Bryan505, I'm getting Windows 7 and 6 gigs of RAM (I had Vista and 4 gigs previously). The new wireless card part # is 430-0737 (I had the previous 430-2955 that seems to be the culprit for all these cancelled orders).
