I got my doubts, but it could work.

Congrats to the guy with the Studio 15 shipping.
BTW: my new order was identical to the last, even though it would be technically impossible to make the same configuration again (Vista again?). No compensation, but I'll give the guys a few more days while I finish up some classes....
~Ibrahim~
EDIT: how would it be verified that we are all actually real people? What if we put our order numbers there? Or is that too much info to let out? -
I'll let you know when I get tracking info. Again, I figured it's relevant to you guys because of the i7 being the primary bottleneck to shipping the XPS systems, too (or so I assume).
-
-
I think he ordered the Studio 15, not the Studio XPS 16.
-
Sorry, didn't mean to change the subject! -
If anyone is on Ideastorm, I quoted i7bamboozel's post from the waiting times thread. Hopefully, other employees at Dell will get involved and try to resolve this issue faster.
edit: apparently Dell doesn't think this is an idea and that there isn't a problem. FAIL. -
Not to bring it up again, but I don't think that "they charge when it ships" is true. My card was definitely charged earlier today, but no shipping or whatever.
~Ibrahim~
EDIT: made an account on IdeaStorm and bumped it...but there are so many things over five digit votes that our issue might be lost. -
430-2955 Intel WiFi Link 5300 802.11AGN Half Mini Card
Does this mean I'm destined for a canceled order? -
Yeah probably.
And I made an account for IdeaStorm and "promoted" it. Hopefully it'll get somewhere, but I doubt we're telling Dell something they don't already know. Which is disheartening that they are ok with the state of things. -
Is it charged or just tendered? -
-
-
oh cool....guess that one is a freebe
-
I'm saying goodbye to my old SXPS 1640 with a T9800 and hello to a new SXPS 1645 with a Core i7-720m very soon (hopefully)! Too bad Dell Canada has no 820m or 920xm ...
And before people comment on me wasting $$, this was a replacement, not a new purchase. -
-
man i think im destined to get cancelled too i have that "old" wifi card number.... oh well 6gb of ram and win7 ult is what they'll give me if they want me to replace my order.
-
-
~Ibrahim~ -
They all tell me it's a shortage thing. Some pieces got backordered blablabla. I guess that since they are running low on certain wifi cards they are using another one and for that they got to update the order hence the cancel and re-order bs. -
I'll take a later EDD honestly if they give me those upgrades. I just called the automated and it has the same message. (sorry for yet another EDD post, this one does make me a hippocrit i think)
This thread is honestly the most interesting thing I have to read in the evenings and the morning. -
-
Well my order has the 430-2955 Intel WiFi Link 5300 802.11AGN Half Mini Card and a EDD of 11/11/2009. It has not been cancelled yet and I am checking the status daily.
I am optimistic about my EDD but will post a follow-up as I get closer to my EDD of 11/11. If they do cancel and reorder with a later EDD I hope I can get the Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade for free.
I don't know if all these delays are normal for launching a new computer but it sure seems to be a disaster. I would think all these post (now over 1300) would be a huge PR problem for Dell. All these complaints on the public Internet just don't look good to me (makes it look like Dell is a poorly managed company or don't know what they are doing). I am very familiar with launching a complex product and this is not what my organization would have ever excepted (could not be claimed a flawless launch - too many things gone wrong - too many customer complaints). The competition must be loving this thread. One more thing I notice is that the number of build-able combinations are huge (complexity of ordering and build). Then when you throw in the human element things can get to be unmanageable quickly. Oh well who caries about build-able combinations anyway, they put it out there, we order and they should be a low cost producer and Deliver On Time With Quality. -
Oh Yeah, I should have concluded with:
On 11/11 when I receive my clean build of the Studio XPS 16 I will post a tremendously positive reply with lots of praise for the Dell Engineers, Marketing and Sales folks (hopefully no need to include customer care). So lets see if mine arrives on the 11th and is a quality build. My excitement and expectations are high (like a kid at Christmas). -

I'm thinking of buying a 1645 soon...
-
I ordered my 1645 on the 25th of October, EDD 11/16 and hasn't changed yet... I'm hoping some people with early November EDD get theres soon... Very curious to see the reviews on the i7 chip inside here...
-
-
OK, my Studio 15 i7 has shipped (confirmed with FedEx).
-
-
My order was canceled for 2nd TIME! due to some moron who didn't put the first canceled order via right Dell Preferred Account.
my EDT 12/4
I'm not sure what to do. Should I totally cancel it and look somewhere else. Any comparable machines ? SONY? LENOVO?
I'm really pissed! -
-
All of these ship with i7 processors and have matchable specs for way cheaper. Only thing that drew me to Dell was infact the RGBLED screen and Creative SoundBlaster X-FI chip. -
From other threads the SXPS 16 does NOT use a SoundBlaster "chip" ... it is all software emulation.
Edit:
... unless you get the Creative ExpressCard ... -
Hey did anyone else receive a $100 off any EPP laptop that is over $1000 coupon this morning?
My buddy missed out on the last deal, so if he uses eValue code DYBOFB3 and puts that in his cart, then calls an EPP rep they should be able to apply the EPP discount and the $100 coupon code which would be this:
Code:Studio XPS-16 Processor Intel ® Core ™ i7 720QM 1.6GHz (2.8 GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB) Memory 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz Monitor Full HD Widescreen 16.0 inch RGBLED LCD (1920x1080) W/2.0MP VideoCard ATI Mobility RADEON® HD 4670 – 1GB Hard Drive 500GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive CD/DVD 8X Slot Load CD/DVD Burner (DL DVD+/-R Drive) Sound High Definition Audio 2.0 with SRS Premium Sound Wireless Intel® 5300 WLAN Wireless-N (3x3) Mini Card Battery 85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
EPP Discount: -7% = $1440.57
-$100 off Coupon
Grand Total: $1340.57
This is only about $50 more then I paid and its the cheapest I've seen it in a couple weeks. I'm not sure if the coupon codes are one-time use so I havn't posted mine because I plan on showing it to a friend if you guys think this should work fine.
the eValue code doesn't pull up on the EPP site though, so does that mean he needs to put it in his cart on the regular site and then call EPP? This should work right? -

I canceled my order.
I'll probably order DELL again, because I really like this laptop. I just coudn't recive it when they wanted to deliver it :S
Bye people, good luck! -
I called Dell and got the shipping method straightened out. My other order had next business day shipping but the order they replaced it with had 3-5 day shipping. It was easy getting them to change the shipping method...almost too easy (uncharacteristic of Dell support haha).
So my EDD moved from 12/2 to 11/30 -
-
-
Well I just canceled. My original EDD never got changed but I see HP's shipping 11-10. I just fell in love with the HP systems more and they're cheaper. You can get more for less
Dell gave me a hard time to cancel but I had to talk to a supervisor to do it.
I lost the 1080p and RGBLED but got the same specs with 6gb of ramplus a $200 off with a coupon. I know they're going to keep delaying orders, its pretty much inevitable at this point. Best of Luck to everyone.
-
I ordered on 10/13 with an edd of 11/16 and I notice that a lot of people that order after me are also getting a edd of 11/16. Does it look like 11/16 is the day?
-
-
In a worst-case scenario, I'm going to get the HP Dv6t quad. I wanna tough it out as I really want the RGB screen, not to mention the 1080P
-

Just called the 1-800 number and...IT'S IN THE BOXING STAGE. WOO!
So for anyone who ordered, STOP CANCELING.
Additional Info for the curious: Original order placed on 9/28. Delayed to 11/03. Further delayed a second time to 11/19. -
-
I sent an email to my Rep and told them if my laptop got delayed, I was just going to cancel it and go with an HP. I sent this email 4 days ago and never heard anything until today. I ordered my Dell on 10/26 with and EDD or 11/17. I got this email from them today, of course you can see it was a form letter but none the less....
Thank you for contacting Dell Online Customer Care.
I understand you want to get the order delivered on time as per the estimated delivery date else will cancel it if it gets further delayed.
I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to you since the order is been delayed for deliver. I have forwarded your message to the management and I assure you they will look into this issue and will work on making improvements based on your feedback.
I have checked the records and your order it getting delayed due to the system processor modules.
Your order number is currently in production and has an Estimated Delivery Date of 11/17/2009. The estimated delivery date you received when you place your order was based on the most up to date information we had at that time. Occasionally a delay can occur because the product you have chosen or one of our offers is exceptionally popular. Once your order ships you will receive an “”Order Shipped”” email with the required delivery information for your order.
So, please check your e-mail regularly (including “Junk” and “Spam” mail folders).
Please be informed Dell being a Mail order rule company we will be unable to provide the exact date for delivery.
Please be informed it is an estimated delivery date for your order. It is quite possible that the order gets shipped to you sooner than the estimated timeframe.
Sincerely,
Charles Raj
Funny as my due date that gave was the same one that I have always had..mabey that is a good thing. -
I suggest you edit your post ASAP
