Where are you located? I am in the US, and if I go to Dell.com and click on home and then laptops, ALL other models are available on the left except for the XPS series....................?

I am 100% sure it was there yesterday but it isn't today.

Yep, that is what it SHOULD be... but I am telling yo u man, it's not showing up here...

Even if I select studio it isn't there, and if I uncheck the studio field(so that none are check) ALL models show up in the lis, and if you organize it by price from high to low, there is NO XPS available other than the adamo...

    Why would I lie? haha

Studio XPS should stay as the ultimate multimedia machine, hardcore gaming is Alienware dedicated now.

And the SXPS is still available here on the UK site...

Oy vey..You guys are reading way too hard in between the lines. You guys want the update so bad, you get yourself to believe its coming. Then when a random instance occurs, like an EOL of a cpu within in a model (whoever posted that quote obviously didnt really read what he said, but what you wanted him to say, ie it was EOL of a the 620 in the 1647, not an EOL of the 1647 itself and he surely didnt mention 1645 and EOL together) you jump all over it as if its a clue or a sign of what you want is coming..Its hilarious. You guys are in for a big let down..

You could be right. EOL doesn't make sense considering it's still sold on Dell.com and can be purchased with a 3 year warranty. By definition EOL means the product is no longer supported, not that it's no longer being manufactured. Just because it came from a rep's mouth doesn't mean it is fact. I think it's safe to say we know the products better than most Dell employees do.

I figure, sell my SXPS1647 for about 1-1.2k on ebay (its a brand new replacement) and then spend $500 spec-ing whatever this new model has.

The US. I visited the website in Phoenix, Arizona.

Now I'm visiting the website from some state farther east, and the Studio XPS is still not there.

Oh yea ? Sounds like a good plan...er what new model are you talking about again?

P.S. I live in US. Just went to my EPP site and configed a 1647 with 620m, eta 7-10 days, which is there normal time. Then I went over and logged into my business account and configured the exact same build and lo and behold got the same eta..

Man..will this thread ever die? Probably not..

I wouldn't depend on EPP if you're expecting to get a day-one (or pre-day-one) update on models.

    1) Right on the top of the page hover over "Laptops and Netbooks" and under "Studio and Studio XPS Laptops" the Studio XPS 16 is there.
    2) Scroll down the page a bit under "Studio & Studio XPS Laptops" the Studio XPS 16 is there highlighted in blue.
    3) In the middle of the page click on grey tab labeled "Speed and Design," Studio XPS 16 is there.
    ......
    etcetera etcetera....

There are probably a few other ways you can get to the system so, no offense, I really don't understand what you are saying. I could ask you the exact same question you asked us "guys" above. "Why do you not believe us?" I understand that everybody, including you and myself, want this laptop to be released as soon as possible, but it's not worth it picking out every little thing that seems to happen. If someone at Dell wanted to get a good laugh out of us they'd make little changes like this just for fun to see how we reacted (unlikely, ). Let's just all wait and see if this "Thursday" signals a release of a new system. If it does, "Hoo-frickin-ray!!!", that would be fantastic. If it doesn't, don't you think we'd all look quite dumb from all these pointless things we're trying to form speculations out of... Patience is a virtue, let's wait and see.

UHh wt? you missed the point..The first part was completely sarcastic..Please keep up.. The guy insisted a new laptop was coming out, so I asked him since he knew a new model was coming out what the model was?

The 2nd part was to prove you can still order studio xps, which I was able to do both through epp and dell business, and all of you guys claiming otherwise are crying wolf. Caught up yet? :) Thanks..

Are you joking? You're seriously basing this refresh conspiracy off of your inadequacy to correctly navigate through a website? Just because it doesn't appear on that page right in front of you, doesn't mean you can't order it. Holy wow...That page is set up to show the best deals and prices, ie laptops that are cheaper than $1k..Dude go click on the laptop tab on the top of the page and then click studio xps...Wala!....

couldnt agree more. this is getting outta hand..

    Hey guys,

the gpu will not be a cf5870 btw, and it will not be anything that is better than M15x.

we all should just know that cause dell wont make the xps similar speced with the alienware... thats how the xps got discountinued and little bit worse studio xps came out. so if you are expecting something, think:

    1) similar gpu power, but much less power and heat liek the ati in studio 1747 in UK site.
    2) something with nvidia 260m power or lower, BUT this will mean that there HAS to be TWO fans built in which is HIGHLY unlikely since it will not only make laptop heavier, but much thicker and bigger... obviously dell wants mobility with this line.

because of heat and power issue, i would honestly not expect anything much better with gpu. besides the new intels were out literally a few month ago, and i dont think it would motivate dell to change that.

BUT there are other reasons to believe that delll is on to something, and this is just whole my ideas!

Out of hand? What, you can't stand looking at the thread gaining posts or something? I feel that people like you who post and really don't add to the discussion should refrain from doing so.

And no one here seems to be crying but you sir, I for one thought this thread was pretty much a waste of time and thought but hey, look I am posting in it now because I can no longer choose the XPS from the site.

Deals page??? Sorry bro, this is the laptop and minis page; You can go easily above a thousand dollars on a laptop for example the adamo or an alienware.

Where do you figure that this is a deals page huh? Cuz there is an ad right in the middle of it? We are looking at the sub cat. on the left side man, get a clue.

Sure you can still call in and order one, I am not saying you can't, people like me are merely noting changes on the site that others may know why they do it or when they do these things....

I don't think this thread is something that should get you so bent out of shape.. I mean really, just don't click the thread and you will be saved from this horrible thread!!!!

Now, noting that I can no longer see XPS in the fields on the left of the laptop page in tango with the letter I got from the Dell rep. which I posted before, definitely leads me to believe something is us, esp. the part about the rep talking EOL BS.....

So, take this thread or leave it, but don't come in here bashing everyone for whatever satisfaction you get out of it...

People don't care what you think; Especially if you are telling them to go take a hike and THEIR thoughts are bogus.

If you have some words of advice about the threads topic, please, let it be known. But seriously, get off your high-horse here or take it somewhere else.

Not really though, I am a stoner.

It just pisses me off to see folks come in and rain on someone else's parade. And for what?

If you're taking note, you can look at my past posts and see that ALL my posts, except this thread in the last couple pages, are nothing but helpful, insightful and positive....

I just won't sit back and watch folks bash on others because they disagree.

    Hey U.D.U.,

I never said you can't buy this thing, I just wanted to let EVERYONE that was in this thread, the whole 15 pages that were there from the get that I never took part of, that I myself noticed some change in the site...

I hear you, you can still order it and I agree. I wanted to double check what you said about the various places you can find it... Well check this out man, I went ot the laptops page and licked the Speed and Design, and it is NOT there: http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/1889/dellpic2.png

The other place you noted about clicking on Studio and Studio XPS is not there either, check my FIRST pic. out.

I am an idealistic guy and am open to all ideas, lets just stay positive people!!!!!!

    Anyways, thats just my 2.

I could care less, this machine now is more than I would ever need.

I just really can't stand how hot it gets sitting idle....

The build quality is great, and it looks good, if it were only cooler. I just can't fathom giving up this lappy for a studio or inspiron... F'in joke right?!!

Sure, I spent a little over 600 on a refurb that was sent back 3 times, two times for the SAME THING they never fixed.... Before I even knew what I was getting in replacement, they offered me 13X.00 for 2 years of ext. warr. and I took it, and I got a BEAST of a laptop...

So, here I sit with this HOT 1645 that is warr. until 2/2012 and I am sure there will be a refresh in there somewhere. If it is a viable option I will definitely get it.

    Thoughts?

Im in the same boat, just got this replacement and have warranty until feb 2012. This machine is great minus the heat, so if a refresh does come out and it is much cooler i may argue to get this replaced even though i really do like it.

You're pretty high strung for a stoner. I blaze too, you must be getting shwag..

Its a waste of time because if you actually read the entire thread you can see its been proven time and time again Dell reps have lied to people about the 5000 series coming to the XPS and all that jazz. You're letter from a Dell rep holds as much weight as anyone in this thread, ie none.

You missed the point dude, you're crying wolf because you can't adequately navigate Dell's website and find the item you swear is no longer available but it really is, and you jump to conclusions based on your shortcomings as a browser.

And why are you telling me I have no clue when you can't even find a laptop on a website that everyone else can? LOL. I think you sir, are the one without a clue.

This thread is pretty much just here for speculation, as if you read what the first poster says. So don't go commenting on this if you just want to shoot us down for getting a little excited over something.

An update may come, it may not. But we're entitled to speculate.

    Whoa tecnics,

Lets take a step back here.. NEVER did I say you CAN'T find it on Dell.com, I just said it wasn't listed on the sub-cat. anymore.... Am I wrong? I took screen shots to prove it and you still don't believe those fields are gone? I could take another where they list ALL laptops and you can sort it by price or whatever and show it it isn't there either.

I hopped in this thread late to note a change I saw, and never showed interest in it before, and it really doesn't matter to much one way or another for me.

And about the words from the rep, I merely posted them for s and never stated all this is true and so on and so forth...

I really don't understand how you come to your argument towards me when I never argued the opposing view....????

EDIT: P.S. no bammer here, Cali chron my friend....

People who dont bother reading are posting false information. Its already been confirmed, like I've said many time, the 5000 is NOT coming to the studio xps line and yet people come in here and try to find anything to make it so. Then the hype builds and everyone believes its happening. This thread was started awhile ago and every so often someone like him comes in and starts it up again based on some crazy conspiracy. Its just false hope, please read the entire thread.

No signs yet from Dell. The website appears to be in stock form. I'm keeping a close eye on the laptop section. This is going to be a long surveillance operation, thankfully I'm well hydrated and have plenty of rations to last me the rest of the day. Keep your fingers on F5 gentlemen.

    ZippoMan out.
