I installed on M1530 running Ultimate 64 and it does not really work. Is it compatible with Vista 64? I cannot register any finger print.

I'm really starting to hate this laptop, the new hard drive sped it up, but no matter what I do I'm stuck with some sort of compromise.

32-bit, of course I only get 3.5GB of ram

64-bit, audio glitches/stutters, tried hundreds of driver combinations, no luck

I just can't get no lovin' from this thing.

I had the same problem and it almost made me switch back to x86, but you can fix the audio glitches about 95% of the way fairly simply. I am skip free now unless I try to load photoshop, firefox and a game at the same time while listening to music.

    1) Follow all the online suggestions and disable any effects on your main speakers (by right clicking the speakers and checking for the radio box in properties)
    2) Grab daniel k's soundblaster drivers which you can find on some different sites and torrents (i'm assuming you have the audigy upgrade). Also you dont even have to install the software, just install the drivers only-- I used the have disk method.
    4) Depending on what media player you use (I used media monkey) try setting its priority in the windows task manager to high. This is not permanent but was what finally fixed the issue for me. Once I saw this worked I created a simple cmd script that would launch the player as high priority every time.
    5) If none of the above work, for some reason the video card drivers can come into play here, so fool around with the nvida drivers (again only if you have the upgraded video card) until you find a combo that works.

I have updated the front page yet again. Sorry about the delay.

Also, I have tried installing daniel k's drivers and cannot. I have not found any decent instructions on how to use the "I have disk" method...do I install over something or start with no drivers, and which driver package do I install? Because of this, audigy still seems to not support 64-bit for the m1330. I still have to recommend SRS audio sandbox.

As of the sound issues, I have not had any issues with my install so I can't help too much at all to fix it. For mp3's I've used WMP in 64-bit mode. I believe that iTunes also has 64-bit software. If anyone can troubleshoot this and if I can also get some conformation that it works, I will add this to the front page as a fix. Thanks everyone for your support and help.

Okay I need some help installing the x64 version of home premium sp1 that I received from dell.

I get an error message when selecting a partition for clean install. "Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation."

    - Tried setting to ATA in bios, error above
    - Tried setting to ACHI, install matrix driver, then error above

    Anyone know what to do?

FIX: Make sure that partition is active before starting install, using partitioning software.

    Real,

I tried calling Dell to provide X64 Vista Home Premium, but they said only Vista Ultimate & Vista Business is available for x64. They donot provide x64 Home Premium.

Can you please let me know which Dell support number do i need to call & what is the Dell part number for that.

I told the CS about the DSN policy mention in the OP, but was denied.

    Cheers!!!!

I didn't call Dell. I used their tech support chat and linked them to the post of the dell forums talking about the DSN policy (you can find it on 1st page of this thread). They kept asking if I wanted to buy it, but if you keep at it saying that your entitled to the 64bit version they should send it to you within 3 days. Good luck!

What's the opinion on the Dell Webcam Manager software? Anyone installing it, using the official Creative version or nothing at all?

I notice the original post just installs the drivers and nothing more.

i had to install drivers from dell online, and then use the Dell WEbcam CD to install the webcam manager(OS needs x64 drivers.... so just installing the CD wont work)

its okay.... optional i guess if u dont need a 3rd party tool to create snapshots.... if u only use MSN messenger's built in video chat stuff for webcamming...

Just noticed earlier a fine fellow over at laptopvideo2go has modded newer IDT/Sigmatel drivers for Dell laptops (Well I noticed back when he started the thread, but they didn't work on Vista until more recently)

    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19683

Install the driver and copy the .cpl file to System32 and you get some geeky features that the older Sigmatel drivers don't have. Of note is ASIO support, which is going to come in really handy for me personally.

Still having issues with stuttering on my M1330 though (yes I've tried disabling wireless, enhancements, etc.), and to top it off the built-in Ethernet port no longer works. Makes it mighty hard to setup Linux when all you have is an unsupported wifi chipset.

...just to make sure, your ethernet not working is unrelated to the audio drivers?

It's unrelated on a driver/OS level, since I've tried multiple OSes. Also to make things clear I've reset the BIOS (to make sure i didnt diable anything) and reinstalled Windows and Linux possibly hundreds of times since I've got the machine, trying to find the right combo of crap. I try not to whine about things until ive tried every thing imaginable.

Now the chance the Ethernet and audio are linked in some sort of hardware issue, well, I've seen weirder connections on GM cars.

Although last night I stumbled across a discovery. Using Half-Life and Audiosurf, both not so demanding games the audio was almost unbearable. Then I loaded HL2 which runs natively on 64-bit. Flawless audio playback. Seems my issue stems from 32-bit applications running on x64. Too bad the "64-bit" iTunes is still a 32-bit application.

You can pretty much use any one. I've only really been keeping track of the drivers which are still over/underclockable. I'm using 177.35 and it's working fine.

The link is for the application and maybe it includes a driver. The Download is almost 54.3MB in size.

The current driver is a 4.4MB download available at a different URL:

This is how the page looks here (just taken the screenshot):

Since I have installed the Fingerprint Software and it also features an interface for web passwords, maybe it uses JavaScript to find out about whether this plugin is installed. And if yes, then provide an upgrade download. This would explain, why it doesn't work in FF3, since I don't use that plugin for FF3. Actually the download works sometimes in FF3. Maybe after once showing the page with IE.

Then maybe use another download source.

For the past few days I have not been able to hibernate at all. When I try to use hibernate it acts as if it's working properly and powers off but when I go to wake it up Windows starts and says that it was not shut down properly and asks me if I want to start in safe mode or normally. Could this be a video card driver problem? I have Nvidia 7.15.11.5669 version of the driver installed right now.
I have only had this 1330 for a week now but after a fresh install of Vista 64 ?I was able to use the hibernate function without any problems at first. I believe I had the Microsoft update driver for the video card then but in a later update it seems it may have changed.
Has anyone else had this problem?

You are very unspecific about the nature of the bluetooth crashes. If it crashes with Skype and a headset then install a more recent version of the driver. For example

    6.0.1.6300 (recommend)
    http://www.anycom.com/produkte/blue...usb_adapter/?id=103&partno=CC3036&tab=support

    or 6.1.0.4700 beta:
    http://forum.anycom.com/index.php?topic=2217.0

This has proven to fix those problems. Have system restore points enabled - just to be on the safe side.
