If you see it does 160MHz channels at 5GHz. But router that do this are rare ;)

I think that was a smart move for a tenner.

Knockoff wireless cards often work OK but can be a bit buggy and much slower than spec. Bugs can be difficult to diagnose and resolve. There are enough issues with the 9560 lol.

The knockoff card performance issues can be tougher to quantify for the average Joe as some info and data will be misreported. Requires some expertise to benchmark. But that does not imply that knockoff card performance is even close to genuine card performance. It just means that some knockoff cards may work, albeit way below spec.

I know @GoNz0 knows this but I post as a warning to others looking to save a tenner!

Well that fixed it. I can now download circa 70mb/s compared to less than 10!

Q: can i (repair) install win 10 enterprise on top of win 10 home without losing my apps/settings?

(i know this is not a software forum, but...)

setting up a new machine. what i learned is that macrium / gParted live discs see the nvme drive, paragon for example doesn't. a adwit external case for nvme's is a life-saver, even if a tad clunky to use. thanks @_sem_ for pointing me to the right direction.

You can do, with bit of hacking. First you have to convert Retail to Volume version, then use special GVLK key to upgrade it to Enterprise, and active it with KMS service.

Just wanted to warn all of you guys using liquid metal pastes to be very very careful!!! Recently I asked couple questions here regarding faulty mainboard (dedicated GPU specifically) and turned out it was all due to the Conductonaut leaking on GPU. I had my mainboard replaced and despite the first very bad experience I used Conductonaut again except this time I used eletrical tape to secure the edges of GPU and CPU.

That being said, I used very little Conductonaut to further lower the chances of a eventual spil and now I'm not sure if I applied enough as the temperatures under load are just 3 degrees better than with stock paste and fans spin up quite often even during idle. Is there any other temperature sensor triggering the fans? If so, where is it?

BTW this is what my idle looks like now, seems little too warm no?

EDIT: After couple more minutes of idle Package starts to drop to C8 and idle temperatures drop but it always takes several minutes of idle for my system to allow package to drop to C8 both previous mainboard and this one, and this is also fresh Windows 1809 installation, is that normal that it takes so long for package to reach higher C states?

I used CLU and I put my pictures in here: https://flic.kr/s/aHskUTACyG
Temperatures were great for about 6 months then things started to go down hill. After a year I ended up opening it up and found out I was so close to having the liquid metal paste from dripping somewhere in the motherboard/frame... The temperature decrease is great but not worth the risk!

Can someone recommend which Intel wireless card to buy to replace the Killer in my 9560? Also, where to buy it from? The Intel 9260 I can only find from Chinese sites, I'd like to buy it from EU preferably. I've had it with Bluetooth issues and my mouse not working with Killer. One can only uninstall/reinstall/reboot so many times...

The new 1550 is the same card as the 9260 with another firmware, the 1535 is a broadcom.

It is faster as I had poor network speeds no matter what I did and I have 2 powerful wireless routers at home, Asus AC68u's and since adding the intel card my upload speeds have gone up 10x to match my download speeds over the network.

Quick question. On the dell website, when you look at xps 15, it only shows the xps 15 9570. Does that mean they no longer sell the 9560 anymore?

still setting up the 9560 /w win 10 enterprise.
almost all works, but three things:
    - windows hello/fingerprint - if i try to set up a fingerprint, i just get a flash screen of something opening/closing. yes, i have the synaptics drivers and they appear to be working by device manager. also, biometrics is enabled in the group policy.
    - intel hd graphics control panel doesn't appear, i just get an initialization screen for 10 s. apparently it would have a saturation setting to get rid of the god-awful over-saturation of the screen.
    - which nvidia services can be disabled? the driver install puts like 6 of them on the scheduler. ok, not a bug, but...
yes, i have googled these problems quite a bit but found no working answers. pointers, plz.

answering my own question - got intel hd graphics to show its menu - reinstalled a few times, but i think installing displaycal (all hail to reddit user @diruat - https://www.reddit.com/r/Dell/comments/6sg2gj/dell_xps_15_4k_9560_color_profiles_calibration ) did the trick, and also made running intel's control panel almost mute. maybe there was some corrupt profile that prevented it from loading...

the rest of the problems @ msg 4274 remain, though...

    Hello guys - quick question.
Swapping the Keypad from non QWERTY layout to QWERTY - would you suggest take off each different key top, and just move them onto the other, or is it better to disassemble? (if I remember - replacing the key on 9560 takes about 45mins fully). o_O Even with the antistatic mat last time one stopped working shortly after - maybe just unlucky.

    Thanks

Easier to swap the keyboard rather than break keys doing the swap, you may need a new palmrest as some keys are not the same shape

Hi guys is there anybody getting a weird error message in the Event viewer. Everytime my laptop restarts or wakes up, it records bthusb eventID 5 in the Event viewer (The Bluetooth driver expected an HCI event with a certain size but did not receive it). All the drivers and bios are up to date and never had this problem. However, BT seems to be working OK. I did tried all the version of the drivers including old ones. If I turn off the bluetooth, no error is reported.
This is driving me nuts please help...

Yes, I get the same Event ID 5 error every time the computer starts up and every time it wakes from sleep.

My guess has been that, when the computer starts or wakes from sleep, the error is being recorded before Bluetooth has a chance to start up again. Everything seems to work fine. Thus, even though I tend to be quite OCD about Event Viewer errors, I try to have the self control needed to ignore the errors.

I'll also note that, for me, that error started to appear in the Event Viewer at the same time when I started to use a Bluetooth mouse. Before that, I had never seen the error. I, too, have tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers, uninstalling and re-installing the mouse, etc., but I have not been successful in eliminating the error.

With Windows 7 computers, I prided myself on having a clean Event Viewer, and, on the rare occasions when an error did show up in the Event Viewer, fixing whatever caused the error was usually fairly simple. Unfortunately, I find that the same is not true with Windows 10, and I've had to learn to ignore errors for which there is no apparent fix and that don't seem cause any problems at all.

I know that I should be more careful than I am because I've been burned by bad updates in the past, but I gave this one a try. Everything went smoothly during the update, and I am not seeing any problems after the update.

I have problems with my HDMI output on XPS 9560. The signal is breaking intermittently, like it's constantly losing and establishing connection - it happens on 2 TV's and with 2 different cables - so I think the problem lies on the laptop side. Either drivers or the HDMI port.

What are my options? If I use the USB-C port for video output I can't have audio go through it as well which is a deal breaker - or am I wrong? I use the HDMI output to watch a movie in the bedroom late at night - so I need both audio and video on the same cable.

    hi everyone,

Just got one crazy idea in my head.

What about adding a SECOND m2 ssd to XPS 9560? I think this will keep the original 97wh battery both with the second ssd. Should be enough space inside, huh?

So anybody tried it yet? Need some kind of a xps sata cable to m2/nvme slot, and then just stick the second ssd somewhere on the battery.

    Interesting thought.
You can't go from NVMe to SATA. Most of the m.2 SATA to SATA adapters that I've seen are rather large and you would likely run into fitment issues. Not saying it isn't possible though, but I think it may take some research and trial/error.

Which bencmark you want me to test it?

I didnt care much abt it, since I just have an additional NVME so needed something to plug it as a USB-drive without hassle.

Thanks for the test results. I have one coming in myself. As far as I know they all use the JMS583 chip.

There isn't any way to go from NVMe to SATA though. It wouldn't be worth it anyway as you would be limited to SATA protocol speeds so the NVMe drive would be a total waste.

I really appreciate you taking the time to do this as quite a few of us are stuck with a spare drive we can't use as we need to keep it in case the laptop has a warranty claim. Do you have a link to the 2nd faster one please?
I would rather carry this when I go away from home than my mechanical backup drive as it is smaller and faster :)
