I ordered my Vostro 1700 last week, still waiting for it.
The status is "with local carrier" so I assume I'll get it soon although expected delivery date is June 23.
How long does it usually take to arrive once its listed as being with the carrier?

Awesome! You should be proud Reaperman. You just might get a chance to actually see some of the new laptops Dell's coming out with while being in your return period at the same time. Not that you'd return your M1530 for one of them, but its just nice to know that if prices arn't over the roof, which most likely they are, you'd have the chance of getting one.

I'm posting from my new laptop!!! (see sig)

I have the SEC3157 but it seems great to me. Doesn't really look grainy at all although maybe I dont know what to look for. Looks better than my desktop viewsonic anyway.

Everything else seems OK. The keyboard seems level although it is slightly annoying that the back letters arent raised slightly like they are on my regular keyboard. The feet balance properly. All screws were in.

I'm going to do some 3d mark and driver testing and then its a completely new Vista install and all this google rubbish is gone!

Just got my XPS 1530. Looks very nice. :)

I saw that other people have had nice wallets with their cd's in, headphones and a cloth to clean the screen with with their computer. I got none of that. I'm a bit pissed it doesn't even come with a cloth to clean it or have I been screwed here?
I'm in England if it makes any differences to the extras you recieve.

    Specs:
    XPS M1530 CORE 2 DUO T9300 2.50GHz,800,6M
    Memory Dual Channel 4.0GB (2x2048) 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
15.4" Widescreen WUXGA (1920x1200) TFT Display with TrueLife

    Hiya folks,

Just joined the forums, so I'd best start by saying "Hi" to everybody :D
I'm gonna list my laptop specs, before I get down to the nitty-gritty of reading the many, many pages of forums posts  :p

I bought myself a 17" XPS M1730 mid April: [IMG] (original pic courtesy of an Anandtech review)

    Specs include:

Smoke Grey Magnesium Alloy Chassis - with White LED Backlights
17" UltraSharp WUXGA Widescreen TFT with TrueLife (1920 x 1200)
    Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 @ 2.50GHz
4GB Patriot Signature PC-5400 (originally had 2GB of... something or other)
Dual 512MB 8800GTX in SLi + 128MB Ageia PhysX (I didn't really want it, but there was no option to remove it)
    400GB SATA (2x 200GB 7200rpm in RAID 0)
    8x Super-Multi DVD±RW (the Blu-Ray option would've cost £260.00 extra  )
Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy HD Audio + Stereo speakers (with audio jacks for 5.1 surround sound)
TV Tuner and Dell Travel Remote Control
    2MP Webcam
    Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-Card
Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth 2.0 Module

Vista Home Premium 32bit (Dell don't offer 64bit versions!?)

    230W AC Adapter + 9-cell Lithium-Ion Battery

Hello im new to these forums.

I have just ordered a Dell M1530 and am currently awaiting delivery on 23rd june and can not wait for the time to pass. On a intresting note I rang Dell to ask about upgrading the processor after i received the first email confirmation and they offered to put the T9500 2.60GHz 6Mb cache in there for free, I didn't ask why I just said thanks. I was actually amazed they threw a £250 processor in for free. Anyway heres my specs:

    XPS M1530 CORE 2 DUO T9500 2.60GHz,800,6M
15.4" Widescreen WUXGA (1920x1200) TFT Display with TrueLife
    Memory Dual Channel 4.0GB (2x2048) 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    Hard Drive 320GB SATA (5400rpm)
Graphics Card 256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600M GT

As you can imagine im gobsmacked I got all this for £809 delivered.

Anyway thats my introduction I look forward to joining your community.

Just got mine, stats below, seems to be in good working order. Samsung screen, but no graininess or apparent light bleeding, haven't examined it in a dark room yet though. Otherwise seems to have come out solid.

    bluetooth ordered at dell.com

$699 sale at bestbuy right now, plus the $19.99 bluetooth from dell. Great deal if you'll ask me. Had it for a couple of months with no problems whatsoever and I can't find a lot of threads about problems regarding this model, so.

Recieved my new Dell XPS1530 Laptop 2 days back, Followed Les's guide to reformat. It was a Breeze. Thanks Les. I had one concern, that my RAM is underutililized. This is my Configuration

    I have the Following Questions.
    1. Only one USB Port out of 3 is USB 2.0?
    2. How to know if my monitor is an LED LCD Screen?
    3. Will my hardware support 64 Bit VISTA Home Premium. I Need 64 Bit Home premium as my RAM is underutilized.

My XPS M1530 with T9500, 4gigs of RAM, 8600GT, 6-cell battery, LED LCD, 250 gigs at 7200rpm, tuxedo black, vista ultimate...

All this got shipped in 7 business days!!!!

For all those who said that the 6-cell battery made the production way longer, well I've just proven it false (at least for me!)...

Yeah, I was just soooo happy and surprised, that I had to share it with you all!

Thanks for all of your help!

    :)

Could people who recently received their xps unis describe what accessories they received? (i.e. media center remote, cloth, earbuds, etc.)

Mine was delivered this morning FINALLY=D

I love it, no problems so far at all, knock on wood. The only thing that's iffy is the speakers (I mostly use the headphones anyways, which by the way are spectacular) and something makes a mechanical scracy sound every once and a while. I definately prefer this way over my Dell Dimension desktop. It plays games like a beast, and surfs internet as fast as my connection allows. I have yet to use photoshop and such with it. <3 m1530.

Mine arrived yesterday!!!! Most noticeable flaw. No not the slot load drive, thats really nothing, no nothing wonky on mine so faar.., but the palm rests on the keyboard get somewhat hot for a new computer!, i mean its nothing overtly concerning short term but more so in the long term - like if its this hot now, i wonder how hot it will be in 1 year or 2 years.??

Long time lurker but my first post here. After much waiting for deals to come along and various reading of these forums, I plumped for a Vostro 1510.

I am a UK buyer and am so pleased with my first ever laptop.

The spec. is in my signiture, I think I got a pretty good price. The deal I had was free shipping (£60), free 1gb upgrade of ram (to 3gb) and save £30.

The only thing I'm worried about now is spilling something on it as I took out no accident damage!

The fingerprint reader is extremely cool and works perfectly, the screen looks good and the laptop seems to be built really well. Am one very happy chappy!

Recived my 1720 yesterday and I am actually suprised it performs better then I thought it would. I got the 1.8 ghz with the 8600, 5400 rpm drive, 2gigs ram and its suprisingly fast. Its also my first time with vista and so far I like it. I am very happy with my new laptop.

well after a month its finally here!!!

very impressed with the finish, feel, and materials used. i'm currently just installin random nick nacks. i'm gonna wait til my USB flash drive gets here before i do a reformat. i wont have to redownload all this stuff =P

unfortunately, i recieved a grainy WUXGA screen :(

aside from the screen, everythin is great, love everything so far. i'll call dell in a bit and see what i can do.

i was also wonderin where i could find out if my GPU was the DDR3 version. thanks =)

You can find out that it is the GDDR 3 version, by Me saying it is the GDDR 3 version ;). All M1530's have GDDR 3. But if for some reason you do not believe my awesomeness. Download GPU-Z it will tell you right there (also it is just a solid program to have anyways).
