I updated mine and didnt see anything different. Also i find my boot times slow way down if i have a external hdd attached. Seems the bios takes a good look for other boot devices, even though it should only boot from the pervious boot sectors hdd.

A kinda silly question, but can I purchase a 4k pnnel and install it in my FHD version? I don't the extra battery drain and I couldn't buy the 4k version in my country.
-
I got my Inspiron 7559 some weeks ago and just read that idle CPU-temperatures in some test are around 35-40°C.
I definitly never reach temperatures like that while idle. It's more like 45-50°C. In normal usage my temperature is somewhere between 45-60°C. When temperatures reach 60°C the fans kick in for like 10-20 seconds and the temperature goes back to 45°C, which happens like every 20 minutes. The laptop does not sit on a cooling pad, but it's bit lifted up at the back.
So i wonder if you noticed the same temperature-behavior or it's just my 7559? -
Hi, which M.2 SSD did you purchase? I have an 850 EVO SSD and Windows 10 and it took around 25 secs to boot and on Win 8 is taking 8 seconds. Latest BIOS instaled, 16gb RAM. Maybe I should change my EVO for an M.2
-
The M.2 SSD shouldnt have and advantage over a SATA 850 EVO. I have an 850 EVO in my A18 and its darn quick to boot up. Could be a bad install of Windows is more likely a cause. Perhaps not the correct Intel chipset drivers or something like that.

Smoke_Skull,
3 questions:
1. Are you experiencing back light bleeding mentioned by others with the LG and the other panel manufacturer (I think the other panel maker is BOE)?
2. Are there any annoyances or issues with the Samsung 4K touch panel you can share?
3. Can you look at your invoice and provide the Dell part number of your Samsung UHD/4K touch panel?
I am considering placing an order for a teen 3D animator. I need the best display available for the 7559. She states a touch screen will make working with images/videos easier, so touch is a requirement.
Thank you. -
Zero light bleed with the Samsung that I can see. I have noticed occasionally that when I am gaming that the screen appears to split diagonally and not align perfectly. THis only happens for a moment and then goes back to normal. It could be a driver issue or perhaps a problem with the graphics card. I am having some stuttering issues right now with GPU-Z reporting some type of power shortage. I am going home tommorow and will update the drivers and do some retesting.
The panel is a bit yellowish looking with a white background is the only thing I have noticed about this panel that stops it from being absolutely perfect. I have only had the machine a couple weeks though. -

Guys, do any of you have the 'coil whine' issue on your 7559's that plagued the whole XPS line in 2015?
I hear a buzzing sound from the upper part of the laptop (below the dell logo) when these conditions are met:
-Connected to AC and charge level is at %100
-No fans running (to hear the sound i guess..)
-It is more audible when tasks on the screen use the integrated GPU. This confirms the theory of some people at Dell forums that this issue is caused by power delivery IC's responsible for the CPU. (iGPU draws more power = more noise)
One can easily hear this sound when scrolling in Chrome on a quiet room. Some posts on dell forums say issue is solved with an AC adapter rma and some say it is required to change the mobo with a newer design that Dell put out for affected XPS's (no posts about the 7559). I believe first option is a different problem than mine.
Thoughts? Anyone having the same issue? -
Can't say as I have noticed anything like this.
-
See http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/dell-inspiron-7559.782286/page-195#post-10248478
Yes, I have! But it's also if the AC adapter isn't connected, but: " when scrolling in Chrome" -> I have this noise when the CPU is idle. If I scroll, it's silent. Stupid new technology. ^^ I'll contact Dell in June to this problem (currently I've not time for it
).

3 seconds? It looks like 16 seconds to me.

got this laptop from dell yesterday, I have a yellow screen, BOE, and it drives me nuts. I've tried reading though pages, but there are 197pages. is dell doing anything to repair/replace the screen? If I purchase a 4k screen from ebay would it be a direct replacement? Or is this something i can adjust in color settings? Any tips?
I'd hate to return this due to the screen, but its annoying. My lenovo (3 years old) blows this one out of the water in terms of Panel quality. -
1080p is 30 pins while 4k is 40 pins.
-
I have a LG 156WF6-SPM1, which is quite better then the BOE one. But there is a much greater Panel for it: the SPB1. See here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/dell-7559-vs-asus-g551jx.789278/#post-10243396

I have a pcie m.2 drive will it work as sata?

I don't think so. Many have tried. You can try and let us know if it worked.

Yes, i began experiencing it after the laptop was unused for 1 month. Power button did now power up the laptop and I had to connect the AC adapter. It powered it up and after that it didn't charge to 100 % (it stayed always at 99%) and making that noise when connected to AC and at 99 % charge. Finally it charged to 100 % but the sound is here when connected to AC and battery is at 100 %.
Weird...
Faulty motherboard? -
Anyone know if this laptop will takea 15mm driver? Specifically this one.

Maybe... Mine only had 2 months and it died 2 weeks ago, It had a faulty motherboard, turned off and never turned back on. Thanks God its still under warranty and motherboard is being replaced.
-
I just finished talking to a Dell Tech Support who told me only up a 1TB is supported I'm wondering if anyone has had luck with a bigger drive? It's looking like I will have to buy a M.2 Sata SSD simply for storage reasons.
-
You can always use an external HDD and they make those in SSD too.
-
Do u guys also experience black screen of death? I kept having it recently. The screen is still on, but all black.
-
I would run a driver cleaner and instal a fresh video driver.
-
Done that, but it only reducced the number of times the BSOD occur. I clean install nvidia, then omitted the 3d vision driver and I don't have any issues now.
-
I ran into that issue earlier today while taking an exam :/. I updated both the Nvidia and Intel graphics drivers and that seemed to do the trick for me.
-
Is this a normal wear level after 3 months of usage? That said, is your discharge also 20,000mWh and above?
P.S. The discharge rate shown is significantly higher than 20,000 because I was playing a music video by the time I captured the screenshot.

Is there a quickset key to turn on and off the touchpad? When i plug in a mouse i prefer to turn the touchpad off. Going through the settings takes forever.
-
Turn it off here:
-
Thanks, I never seen that. Can you make a shrtcut to leave that on the desktop or start menu?
-
Never mind I found where they are on the start menu and I was able to move them by dragging and dropping/
-
Has anyone had any WiFi issues with their 7559?
-
Hello everyone. I am interested in buying this laptop and I've read some of these pages so I just want to ask, im general, how satisfied are you with it? I have seen some reporting about bad touchpad, mediocre keyboard, so-so screen (looking for a 1080p, not 4k) and coil whine noise? Are that things actually that bad? Just a note, in the last past 3 months I've bought 3 Asus laptops and they all had coil whine so i returned them for a refund, I hope it is not that common issue with this one. Thank you.
-
What is the best screen panel replacement option? LP156WF6(SP)(B1)? The BOE is driving me nuts... really hate that damn screen.
-
I've had mine for about 2 months now. I'm coming from a ThinkPad T420 (See sig)
The touch pad is quite good with some tweaking.
I actually prefer this keyboard over that of my ThinkPad. It's kind of half way between my Surface and my ThinkPad. Reminds me of my DiNovo keyboard. It’s currently my favourite keyboard.
The screen seems to be a lottery. I got the 1920*1080 (1080). It’s very bright I do use it outside in the full Canadian Sun. I got the LG Philips screen which is the whitest screen I’ve ever seen. It’s a little lack luster colour wise at first, so I went into the Intel settings and cranked the Saturation to 100% and now it sings. Great for amateur photo editing using Cyberlink Photo Director 6. The colour aren’t as accurate as say my Dell U2410 but they are whiter and more of a joy to use for web/word/email. My screen has trouble with the colour red and intense yellows but is amazing on browns and greens.
My laptop, the rare time I’m not on headphones, is dead quite while doing office work.
I seem to have the lottery wonwith this thing.
A pieces of advice if you get this. Buy Razor Surround, it use the Dolby Pro engine and really adds a level of bass to your headphones that is just amazing. It’s made my Sony Tower speakers with 6.5” woofers seem weak.
Also
You will see a lot of “Higher end” laptops come with the 960m 2GB and not the 4GB and are a few frames a second faster. With the 4GB you can pack higher res textures in and a lot of games are going to be needing more than 2 GB. For example Watch_Dogs needs 3GB of VRAM for max settings.
Also, assuming you’re a gamer, upgrade the ram, 8GB is the new norm and I’ve seen some games, such as Forza 6 Apex recommend 12GB for 1080p@60hz/fps.
A SSD will really make this laptop hum.
On a side note the Wi-Fi reception is really good, I am able to outside about a hundred feet from my router and still get full bars. -
I'm using the LG Philips and its a dream. One of all time favourite screens. For refrence I use a Blackberry Passport , Thinkpad T420, a Dell U2410, a Insignia 39 TV and a Surface
-
I think its an amazing laptop. Mine has the 4K Samsung touchscreen and I dont need the screen for gaming as the graphics card is not powerful enough to give good FPS. I Bought a Killer 1525 M.2 wifi card and it was phenominal. I also bought an Intel 7265 and once I got the latest drivers from Intel its working great also. Sure the keyboard isnt as nice as my $4500.00 Alienware A18 or my Toshiba Qosmio but it works fine for what I use it for. THe speakers work ok, but if I want better I use a bluetooth speaker or quality headphones. If you can get one of these on sale its the best deal on a gaming machine your going to get along with a great company to buy from.

I can't seem to get GTA IV to run. The settings menu always says I don't have enough vram and when I hit start the game freezes.

Have you gone into the Nvidia Control panel and made sure its running on the DGPU and the iGPU.... That is to the running on the nvida 960m and not the Intel 530

Hello.
I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 7559 with a 1TB hard drive and decided to install an M.2 SSD as my OS drive. I have successfully installed Windows 10 on my SSD (C) and partitioned the HD (D) in two: one partition for data and one for Ubuntu. When I'm logged into Windows, the D drive doesn't spin down and continues to make noise. It's a bit annoying and I was trying to find a way to make it go to sleep when not in use.
The drive doesn't seem to be accessed by any process, so I can't figure out why it stays constantly on.
Things I have tried so far:
-setting "turn off hard drives after x minutes" in Windows power management, using different values of x
-disabled indexing on both drives
-disabled prefetching via registry
Thank you in advance for your help. -
I have. I set it to always use the discrete GPU.

Some games have option to choose which GPU to run from if you right click the .exe executable file and select high performance Nivida GPU. -
Right above you I already said that I set to high performance always. Looked around and it seems GTA IV has issues with gpu that have more than 2 GB of VRAM.

f you find a solution please let us know, I was looking forward to a play through of that on my "new" laptop

Is this normal? I only had it almost 4 months and the wear level is very alarming. What about yours dude?

I use my machines as desktop replacements. I am seriously considering removing the battery anyways. Mines still 100% but it only 1 month old.
