How do you guys clean the soft touch surface? Mine is a fingerprint magnet and it's bothering me.

I know this is addressed elsewhere, but I'm looking for help finding the right touchpad drivers.

I tried installing the ELAN drivers posted elsewhere in this thread. Upon install, I can see the options in the mouse settings but they do not actually do anything even if I change the settings. Then, if I restart my computer, it fails to boot until I remove the ELAN drivers in Safe Mode.

I was wondering if anyone else has similar experiences and if they know any solutions to getting more functionality out of the touchpad. It's absurd that I don't have basic multitouch functions that my 10 year old netbook has (like two finger swipes for forward/back in browser, middle mouse click, etc.)

    EDIT: I'm on Windows 10

You can find it in the dell site. It's only visible if you use mozilla tho. You can find the driver for mouse and other input devices.

Thanks for the quick response! I tried opening the support page on Firefox but still didn't see the touchpad drivers. I conducted a search on the website and was able to find the link though! Thanks so much for your help. I wonder why it doesn't show up on the downloads and drivers page.

EDIT: It seems that these drivers are for Win7. Unfortunately, I'm on Win10, which is turning out to be a real pain the behind.Ugh.

Strange. I've found the 'keyboard' keyword from the page last time I checked. BTW, is your mozilla firefox updated?
Also, how much is your battery wear level? Mine is already at 14% after 3-4 months of usage. T_T

Wash your hands often and try not to touch the machine, especially if you have not washed them recently. Criminals get caught because they dont wash their hands often and leave fingerprints/

This occurred on Nvidia drivers versions 365.10 and 365.19 even when just watching a movie on VLC. The latest 368.22 seems to be fine so far...

Yeah. I think so. It's also fine in the previous version of the driver.
BTW, dude, is your battery wear level also high?

365.19 is also fine, IMO, I never experienced black screen. Did a clean install using DDU. And excluding the 3d vision driver from the installation of driver.

Hi to all, is dell 7559 with i5 have the same battery like in version with i7 ? Cause in store I find information about some 3cell(for i5) and 6cell(for i7) battery or it just a typo ?
And can u tell me, is there some big difference in performance of i5 vs i7 ?
I need a laptop for coding(AndroidStudio, Intellij) and sometimes to play games.
    Thx .

I doubt you would notice any difference using that memory. Perhaps in synthetic benchmarks it might show a slightly better performance. Seat of the pants use, I highly doubt it. Thats if it will even run at those speeds.

What would the optimal way to follow to replace the laptop's battery a few years down the line be? I checked Dell's accessory site and it doesn't seem they are selling replacement batteries for this model (however they are selling replacements for other models). Will I be forced to go through their tech support, even if I'm able to do it myself?

Just bought one of these laptops and so far I'm quite pleased, however I did get a rather crappy LG screen which I already ordered a replacement for via laptopscreen.com This was before I knew they send "compatible models", Called up and looks like I'll be getting a Samsung LTN156HL03 instead of the fabled HL06-C01 that I ordered. Anyone know anything about these? There are literally no results from a google search.

Has anyone else's back lit keyboard quit lighting up? When I turn on my laptop the light blinks underneath the keyboard but doesn't stay on.

Im getting stuttering on battery with the 6700hq and 960m, GPU-Z is showing its stuttering due to "PWR" throttle state.

Is there some sort of OCP enabled for when you're on battery playing super intensive games like BF4, or is my laptop screwed up?

I'm running ubuntu 16.04 with kernel 4.7 rc4 - the power management is getting better, but sometimes its impossible to awake from standby or the CPU gets stuck while shutting down and I have to press the power button for 5 seconds - but those are the only bugs so far ... I used the nomodeset flag to boot the live USB because it froze without it - maybe thats already fixed idk

I am having trouble installing it. It takes very long before the installer displays ( I mean like, I never got in to the installers menu ). And while I see the logs while unpacking the installer, it says, "nmi watchdog bug soft lockup"

I cant exactly remember how i managed to install it. Can you enter Grub? There should be something like " try Ubuntu". Highlight it and press "e". Now disable nouveau. You should be able to install it from within Ubuntu.

That happened to me as well, I have the same i7 model as well. I ultimately returned the model, making a decision later after doing more research and that's when I saw your post. It's possible the heatsink isn't on evenly or tight enough. If you didn't go for a refund, maybe trying to get a warranty exchange from Dell, citing the temperature spike issue. But I would not recommend taking apart the computer and voiding the warranty in the process. I used to repair laptops, they are a real chore to get to the heatsink...

I also wonder if there's a general defect with this temperature spike, but as more people would have seen and reported the same problem, this could be just an individual hiccup than something across the board -- in which case I'd then think a firmware/BIOS update on the fan controller to activate sooner to prevent the spike, as once the fans are going the temps being in the 75-80 range are excellent for the small form factor.

Sounds like a lot of people are reseating the heatsink with better thermal compound? (Because of the initial spike, overall hot temperatures, or wanting to outdo what was done at the factory?)

Using Ubuntu Studio 16.04, with the Linux version of Prime95, on a stock 7559 I bought (but later returned):

The CPU initially spiked to 92C, but soon went down to ~74C. Half hour later it seemed to stabilize at ~76C. All cores were in 5C of each other. Apart from initial spike, I was impressed with the results (and overall build quality despite display issues). Idle temps were in the low-30s (32~35), which seemed fantastic.

I do mostly CPU-intensive work, but I ran a quick GPU test -- I playing a 3D game with all max settings at 1080P, which got the GPU up to ~85C. A lot of shearing/tearing artificating was visible, regardless of vSync setting. I'd read elsewhere the nVidia 960M apparently has problems with tearing... :(

No, I used Google for every little step when something went wrong. It was not necessary to make the boot flag changes permanent. Have you tried nouveau.modeset=0 ?
nomodeset i915.modeset=1 does the same thing :)
The guide you found may work nicely.

You called Dell and they are shipping you a Samsung display? I too received the LG panel in mine. Earlier posts suggest that the LG panel isn't too bad. Quite good actually. I must say that my screen looks pretty good looking straight at it. But has very poor viewing angle. I would consider a better matte replacement if I could find one.

    Hy Guys, very asap question,

how can I install Windows 7 to this laptop?

It does not have usb 2.0 port and running from usb 3.0 it will give a missing driver problem at the begin of install process.
