It won't really matter to me because it takes like 2-3 weeks to get your laptop anyway. If I order an XPS or a Studio XPS it would still take a long time to get it. I have to go home to get the laptop anyway since I'm at college and I need to transfer stuff from my desktop at home. By the time it reaches my house I'll be on my winter break so I'll be alright.

You might get them sooner if you order within the first few hours of release, maybe by the end of the month if it gets released this week. Of course you'll be ordering before you get a chance to read a few reviews and user reports. Then again, you can always send it back if it doesn't meet your expectations.

No choice but to wait now. 3 hours after my last post Dell lost the sale because the existing M1330's GPU died (second time). My wife is going back to China but I think she can only bring one notebook back so it will probably/hopefully be the repaired M1330 and not a new one ;-(

By the way, I heard the wood panelling on the new Dell Studio XPS 16 is an additional precaution against graphics failure - "touch wood".

Dell are aggressively promoting, and slashing their prices on the entire XPS range from now until November 12th here in the UK.

Ok bad news first.. the Q4 Roadmap just came out.. the one before was Q3... and things have changed on this roadmap.. the M1330, M1530 will.. well check the slide.

    [IMG] [IMG]

Note they still saying Studo XPS 13 and 15 dont know why they say 15 and not 16... but on the individual slides.. they say 13 and 16.. but due for december.. so.. anyway we shall see if they still spill the beans soon.
Note.. im just passing on the info.

Yes.. i also have news that they will be revealed this week.. i agree with u.. and i have said the same before.. but dont forget that when dell releases info you dont expect the items for 3/4 weeks... as we all know.. and the individual slides of the XPS 13 and 16 do say december.. before they said november.. so what does that mean? delivery date? probably.. not sure though..

But we all hope for news this week.

I can wait. If it means we're getting a quality product devoid of issues, I can wait. But if they think they're charging a premium for what will amount to standard hardware by the time they launch, they're in for a shock.

i just dont understand dell... m1530 was a really good laptop, very popular, high rated... why they want to put them out of the stock... why they just dont update it with latest tech.. the only thing i dislike about the current xps is two generation old GPU...

Gotta agree. People will not wait forever for Dell to release something new.

I'm seriously considering to get the MacBook Pro now. With some cash from my birthday and Christmas I would probably be able to get one.

They would need to redesign the cooling for one. They would also need to fit a new motherboard in the current case. It's isn't as simple to simply swap out the parts.

I have been watching this thread from the sidelines, hoping to compare the new Studio 13 to the Sony Z. With Sony now reducing their prices on the 1600x900 Z, and Dell still in delay mode, the decision is simple. Z for me!

I've been sitting on the sidelines too, but if its January than I'm purchasing the HP HDX 16t the moment there's a good coupon for the holidays. I've really wanted to be do a comparison of the 16" market but at this point the HDX has been tested and reviewed and my need for a new laptop is going to far outweigh any slight upgrade I might get by holding out. Are you listening Dell?

Yea... I got fed up last week. Looks like the recent delays are starting to nail more people. No better way to stick it to the man (I mean you Dell.) than to take your business elsewhere.

If I can confirm that my local Sony Style retail outlet has the same Vaio Z555DNB model as the one that's listed on sonystyle.ca, and get the same online discout I have translated over, and use the gift certificate I just got, this is going to be one awesome purchase.

Dell is heading down the path of GM. Once you fall behind there's no catching up. By the time they realized they are behind, it's too late. The customers have moved on.

    Hi there!

I'm a long time reader, first time poster... what can I say... CALM DOWN, guys! I'm pretty sure Jayson is laughing his *** off, reading your panic-posts. Don't you get it? He asked if he should be a good boy or a bad boy... He's been a good one for a long time, now he's being a bad one, getting back on all the naysayers and having a little fun. :p He even mentioned the possibility of this new slide being fake :D . There's no way Dell is going to throw away the Holiday season like this. It just won't happen.

My guess: By tomorrow evening, we all will know more about the Studio XPSs. Officially. And they will start selling sometime between this thursday and early december.

    Greetz,
    Brainie
