I am currently looking at some Sony Vaio model instead. If Dell doesn't release any info this or maybe next week i'll buy a Sony instead.

Maybe this is wrong thread to ask, but i'm wondering wich Vaio model i should buy. I like the current XPS 1530 and it would nice to have something similar.
Backlit keyboard and a good GPU but no more than 15,4" screen..

    Any suggestion?

When you guys talk about Dell showrooms, is that like for insiders only or is that just a shop to look at Dell models before buying?

And for the AW comment, Dell doesn't even sell alienware machines in many countries, so that would really cripple Dell's consumer market. I have never even seen an alienware machine IRL in my entire life.

I dont know if it is free for public, but my friend is working for dell and he takes me there sometimes :)
You're right... but he said they want to sell alienware worldwide!! And also said that the reason why they are not interested in consumers line is that the profit they get is uncomparable lower than profit they get from bussiness laptops..

    AW worldwide?
As in via the Dell page?
Because you can order AW to almost any contry. The default AW site is US, then you have to pick a European contry and then you can pick Rest Of World or Other EU. And then they ship it to almost anywhere, as far as I know. But granted, they're overpriced and if I'd order it, the warranty would be a bich, I would have to send it to UK or someplace.... and they're overpriced.

Anyhow... hope that Dell is just gonna pop out with the new XPS systems with no warning and everybody's happy... *sigh* wishful thinking FTW! :p

For me, it's enough. If at the beginning of december there are no more news from Dell, I will have to buy another notebook. I think I will buy the new Sony Z with Intel P9500. But it is very expensive... especially in Europe.

Me and I'm sure, several others don't really have much of a choice. If i could find a laptop that fits my demands (Dell does on the roadmap atleast) I would buy it in a heartbeat. But we can't buy vaios, samsungs, alienwares bah!

I don't think Jayson makes the decison on the release(s)! He was just posting the information that he has, when he has it. ;)

It's Dell, and only Dell that makes the decisions on when the releases will be.

So you wait, and you practice the *art of patience*, on a daily basis! :D

I'm fortunate I can wait till Christmas for these notebooks to show up.That is how long I can wait for Dell to release the Studio XPS models. I only hope my current notebook doesn't fall apart before then.

Congratulations DELL, thanks to your crappy customer-pawning sales policy you have lost at least 20% of your customers to Sony and disappointed another 30% loyal customers. once loyal customers. nice job!

    but again, lets wait...

i thought about buying an alienware laptop, but their design sucks SO much... :(

7 days left. Then I spend 500 dollars more than I wanted to and give sony more money because they overprice rather than giving it to dell.

I am not sure how much inventory Dell could possibly have left over. They are supposedly using JIT as an inventory method but apparently even they can screw that up.

hmmm.. i dont agree... DELL is actually VERY interested in the consumer line you dont imagine.. it is what projects their brand and gives companies that UMPF on the business side.. dont forget todays children are tomorows leaders, CEOs, CTOs. blabla... believe me they need to take down HP on this one.. and YES they earn alot less because they already behind playing a catch up game..

before you wouldnt see DELL in retail stores like you do now.

Wait a min, Dell in retail stores?
All the ads they've shown over here have had a very poignent "You can't buy a Dell in the shops" theme in them, actually thats all they had in their adds, Seems slightly hipocritical?

I hear the Quadro's do fairly well, but you kinda need to tweak the drivers, or somehow make it use other drivers or something to optimize it I think?

Well I'm pretty sure that in the USA Dell is cheap as I visited the site a couple of times, but Dell Mexico is not.

I just configured a M1530 with a Core 2 Duo at 2.4, 4 GB, Full HD Screen, 8600M GT and the total was $ 23,247 MX (1817 Dlls) and a better configuration on Dell US gave me a total of $ 1,409 Dlls.

So many misguided posts so far.

Don't believe Jayson's claims that Dell have taken down he Studio XPSs until he posts the god**** thing on this thread.

Even I can claim things without evidence.
Oh, btw, Dell are releasing a 22in laptop that fits in your pocket and is 2pounds light, has GTX280 Triple SLi and is 100$. It was on Tier 3 of the Roadmap but I can't post it now, I'm having nachos

Regarding Sony v Dell, The FW is very good B4B right now. How said Sonys cost an arm and a leg? Well, your arms and legs must be pretty bad quality as $1000 isn't that much. The 3650 is the same as the 8600M in the m1530, so you're getting a cheaper, better looking and bigger screen in the FW over the current m1530.

Alienware is already covered worldwide, ignore the fact that they only have ALienware US, AU, UK, Germany and France. The UK one ships to all Euro countries, AU ships to NZ and US ships to Canada and South America.

qaz333, I MUST know when this new Dell laptop with a 22" screen, can fit in a pocket, and is only 2 pounds will be released. 2 days, 4 years, 100 centuries? C'mon Dell, stop the hiding and show this wonder product of tommorrow NOW!

Oh I heared Dell is releasing the NEW XPS's in about 1 1/2 years, perhaps 3. They think this tech we have now is too slow, so you get delays. Sure, the Inspirons will keep on coming by the landfills, but XPS's, that's gonna be a LOOONNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG time from now! ;)

The XPS 9000 I am waiting for will have a 20" 3D screen, 84 tuba-bass triple reflux speakers, 7 triple quad duo core extreme processors with 50 Terabytes L700 cache and a 5 trillion GHZ FSB, Nvidia 982000000GTXXXL with 9 quadrillion transistors, a slot-load Hologram drive, 100k color RGBY OLED screen, 1 gigasmack hard-drive, back-lit keyboard brighter than than sun.

I hear this will be announced soon!!!! I also hear it eats babies for a fuel source!

Uhm, So just because the UK store ships to our countries we should just ignore the fact that we get subpar warranties, no localized keyboards, pay extra for shipping, having to wait 3-6 weeks while we ship the PC out of the country if something goes wrong, no localized software etc..?

    Yeah.. no.

Whatever, just making a point. If Alienware make a Alienware China, or ALienware SA, the prices will be so ridiculously priced, the wait for the laptop to come from the UK will be fine.

Well I will say that yesterday brought further light to me as to why Dell really could care less when they update the XPS line. I was talking to some friends and was like "I'm waiting for a new laptop" and they were like get the XPS it's the best. I'm like wow... the XPS is years old and hasn't been updated but because it has the words XPS on it it must be top of the line. I mean there is not one laptop from dell right now that is a good choice. 17 inch gaming is the gateway, 15 inch would be anything really that has centrino 2 like hp, sony, lenovo, 14 inch is lenovo, 13 inch is definitely the Sony Z although you gotta pay to have it, but Dell is just way too far behind to really sway any real consumer to buy it.

However the general consumer will consider XPS to be just as good as any other laptop out there because the words XPS is an established gaming brand.

Only about 5-10% of people who would have bought an XPS didn't and that doesn't hurt dell's bottom margins when they factor in their premium price for their line along with using year old parts.

Why are you insisting on being so amazingly antagonistic? Here's what will happen: Dell will eventually announce their new laptops. If they're in line with what Jayson's said, it will be obvious. If they are not, it will be obvious. So quit freaking out because you don't believe him. We get it. You don't. Sit back and wait -- you'll be able to gloat if he's wrong when any such announcement comes. But at the same time you better be gracious if you have to eat crow yourself ;)

This is wonderful.. but i think that the first slide.. that come 4 months ago.. are original and sure.. but the problem is that dell doesn't mantain the prevision date.. perhaps.. the are waiting for the newer intel core i7 mobile cpu.. doesn't it??
