just chatted with someone from dell. my order is supposed to ship 7/30 but he said it looks like their is a delay because a part is backorder, he said he couldnt see what part or how long, so i emailed his boss to find out. but i did get upgraded to next day shipping for free.

 

Grats. My was scheduled for today, but got that delay email moving the ESD to 8/1, but I'm already 2 days into Boxing, so it hopefully shouldn't take that long.

 

anyone else get upgraded on their status today? i havent gotten through since this morning.

I called at noon and heard the same status " boxing stage".

When I called now, the automated status system transferred me to a rep with a wait of 5 mins. I don't want to wait. Hope it will work tonight.

Anyone's shipping soon like thursday/friday?

 

i was hoping mine's would have shipped today so i can get it before the weekend...but its still in boxing...and that automated order checking system is getting on my nerves

 

I emailed someone about a few questions and she said mine should ship at most, 2 days from now. Bad part is if it ships friday I wont get it until monday....thats going to make for one loooooong weekend waiting for it. Church is long enough, but knowing my laptop will come the next day, even longer

 

ok after being told i my order would more then likely be delayed today, i finally got threw on the phone order status and turns out im in testing! This is very good news as i need my notebook asap. so looks like i should have it by the end of this month.

 

Automated Status working at the moment- been touchy all day...

1 with Home Premium changed on 7/17
1 with Home Basic ordered on 7/17 in case the first one got canceled
--both orders went to "testing" today from "build"

It'd be redundant and stupid. The thing is in Boxing, meaning it will ship any day now. I'm not impatient and don't care that it doesn't meat the estimated ship date by a day

 

Just spoke to a dell rep and he said that my unit is in transition from boxing to shipping and it might be shipped anytime within the next 2-3 days.

great news to hear especially after hearing my order was going to be delayed this morning.

 

Mine just went into the boxing stage...scheduled to ship 7/26. I ordered on 7/11. I was upgraded to next day shipping so I should have it this Friday!

it is funny how when i say learn more about the boxing stage it tells me it is when it is placed in a box with the rest of the components (keyboard and mouse) and then placed on a truck to be shipped to me. It says nothing about an airplane ride to Malaysia. Guess that is minor lol.

They all go through the same prossecess, but the description on the websites may varie from the diffrent countries.

 

I'm still in build, booo. Of course, I ordered later than most of you guys - my order date was Friday, July 20. And I actually ordered it late that night, around 10:00PM EST. So here's the rest of my info:

Yes, I went for Vista Basic, but I get a free copy of Vista Premium from school, so I'm gonna upgrade to that once I get the computer, plus I plan on buying a matched pair of 1GB RAM and installing those myself. Depending on how I feel, I may or may not buy a Creative sound card to use, too. I'm really only getting this computer for while I'm at school, I've got a decent desktop rig at home. It just got to be a pain lugging it back and forth to school (which I did for the first two years), so it's gonna be great now to actually have a laptop.

 

I orderd mine on Sunday, July 22, and it has an Est. Ship Date: 8/10/2007. And its still in preproduction

 

Arg. Mine's still in the build stage; this is like the 5th day. It had better be built right if it takes like a week to assemble.

 

Mine was in build for over a week before it hit the testing stage. I'm dreading powering the sucker up and suffering a massive short caused by the tech sleeping 7 hours a day over it and drooling into the exposed circuitry.

 

Wait wait wait, you ordered AFTER me and your ESD is BEFORE mine? That's not fair at all.

 

I know, it dosent make sense. But its not fair that yours is in production and min is still in preproduction. This is the 4th day (not including sunday).

Atleast trackstar got his shipped. So we can expect a review soon for vostro 1400. Boxing should atmost take 2 days. Mine was in this stage since 23rd. Dell hurry up ship that sucker.

^^ you guys where did you go in the dell web site for current order status. Mine stays in production stage in the online order status the day since I ordered.

 

I think you have to call for the more detailed order status. I know for me, it says "in production" on the site, but if you call them up and give them your order number, they'll give you a little more detailed information (i.e. if it's in build or boxing or whatever).

But its next 'business' day shipping, so if I don't get it tomorrow, which i highly doubt i'll get it so soon, I wont get it until monday. So by monday I should have it.
