Haha! I work answering phones doing CSR work, and I have no idea what's going on in our shipping dept. Sometimes you have to tell people "I'm sorry you need your order now, but we can't get it to you until tomorrow."

It really isn't fun to get yelled at, but you do get used to it. I wonder if they talk about the calls they get amongst one another too...that would be interesting.

 

I know, I think I would have been far less crabby if tehy had told me the first 3 times I called and inquired about dalays...
I'm sending "ship fast" vibes your way!

 

Y'all...this is ridiculous. Haha. I feel like I talk to this bulletin board more than I do my own family. Haha.

At least we all understand how annoying/frustraing this is. I feel slefish and spoiled complaning about my pink computer not shipping in fast enough to other people. Ha!

OMG! i just called their number and they said my laptop is in the Boxing stage!!! its never been in the boxing stage before! i hope it doesn't stay there for 50+ days like the production stage. I'm getting a little excited now ... yay?

 

Good luck. Mine said build for about a week after I ordered, then reverted to "preproduction" and has said that since then, so I highly doubt it will ship Friday. And yet the CSRs I chat or speak to on the phone all say that it's not delayed at all... but obviously that doesn't mean anything. My current computer is slowly dying on me and I just hope it can hold out until I get the new one.

It just seems like the longer I wait, the more excited I get. And it seems like quite a few people in here are beginning to get their computers, so maybe I can count on receiving mine in 2-5 days

usually when people go back to the dell site and see what the delay on colors are they only go check their particular model... but as of now

on the 14s... Pink is the only color that shows a delay ... and its 2 weeks...
on the 15s....Red, Blue, and Yellow are the delay colors.. 4 days for Red and Blue... 2 weeks for yellow
on the 17s... Red has a 4 day delay, Yellow has a 5 day, and Pink has a 2 week...

 

[COLOR=[COLOR="Magenta"][/COLOR][/COLOR]Just got done "chatting" with Tanya. Yesterday I was told by 2 CSR's that I was in final build and would be "boxed" and shipped today or tomorrow. Today, Tanya tells me they're waiting for backordered parts and my ESD is still 9/12. Ihave it in writing that it was already being built! This is preposterous. Anyone else have them say will ship within 2 days?? Now i'm calling a supervisor at Order Modification to see what in blazes is going on. If it wasn't started to be built, tell me, DON'T LIE to me.

 

So my computer still hasn't gotten to the build stage but I finally got someone on the Chat who admits that there will be a delay. She said it's the LCD screens and monitors that are delayed, and my next ESD will be 10/12.

EDIT: Okay, nevermind. Apparently I was using the wrong order number (I have a separate one for the Computrace LoJack). I contacted Dell to cancel my order and gave both order numbers and was told that my computer is in the last testing stage and is all set to be shipped tomorrow. So that explains why I kept getting "preproduction" instead of "build" when I called the automated system. Now that I called back with the correct number for the computer, it does say build. So maybe things are on schedule for me after all? *Fingers crossed.*

i was told that my system would ship within 2 days.... then i was told like an hour later that the person who guaranteed it would ship within 2days didn't have the authority to say that and that the new ESD is 9.22.07..... im soooo confused it makes me sick... so now i'm just trying to forget i even ordered the damn thing and be surprised when it hits my doorsteps... hopefully before xmas....

 

Wow, that is f'ed up. As much as I want my computer, I will feel terrible if I do get it before everyone who ordered before me.

If it does delay until Christmas (God forbid!) I would definitely insist on more bonus back stuff.

yup, i did get the anti-glare. its being shipped to my dad's business, so hopefully when I get out of school at 5 it'll be delivered and I can quickly post up some pics

 

A CSR I chatted to today said mine is in testing and should ship within 24 hours, but the automated system doesn't say boxing yet... I hope he wasn't giving me the wrong information. :-\

 

don't feel bad tess, there's a reason for everything.. i figure this is just learning a lesson about how patience is a virtue.... and im workin my butt off on gettin some sort of compensation becuz i really needed it about 3 weeks ago

So after Sunshine's wondrous news... I called Dell up.... actually had no wait... surprise surprise... for some reason they sent me to the other modification department... spoke to a nice American guy who told me once again it is my pink that's holding me up (don't u get the tingles when they tell you that...) but he also said that they have multiple paintings with drying time in between... which is honestly something I really did not consider... he also told me that Pink, Yellow, and Green were their most ordered colors which is why they have the greatest delay... which shocked me too, I was thinking the Red and Blue would have the most orders... but I'm just rambling @ this point... with him tellin me he's showing my ESD @ 9/22... I'm like well there have been 6 different ESDs showing for me so we'll see come the 22nd.... I also tried to get a little extra compensation... it didn't work... I was offered $50 over a month ago... At this point, I feel like it should be something else...

 

thank you, and thanks everyone. i don't think its sad at all. today (before I found out it was shipped) i was getting out of the subway and saw an ad on a wall of the pink dell laptop, and got a little sad. I wanted to rip it off and steal it because I thought I would never get to see mine ... but tomorrow I will ... fingers crossed ... still don't have a tracking number, but its being shipped next day so it doesn't matter (i think)

WTF??? is dell purposly trying to screw me over with every second they can get. They promised me next day shipping for my troubles and now I look and i see ground??!!!! I love the fact that is says Next Business Day too. I live in NYC, there is no way in hell a package from the boonies of the South will get here by tomorrow. Those CSR are a bunch of liars!!! argh!!! y me?

 

I've heard of (meaning seen postings on Direct2Dell.com) that they've not been sending a bunch of people their overnight delivery like they've promised.

Their customer service these days is AWFUL. At least the people on the phone are usually nice...but as far as getting the prodcut to the people who are forking out the money, there's really just no excuse anymore.

I'm awaiting my shipping postponement notice in the morning! Whoo!!!!!

 

That is really stupid.
But I heard that that has been happening to alot of people lately (being told that they were getting free next day shipping, and then not getting it).
But at least you know it's coming!!

Well I'm happy to say that after over a month of waiting and delays my pink lappy arrived yesterday. The good news for everyone is that my ESD was just recently pushed back to 10/1, so it was WAY ahead of schedule. Oh, I also had free NBD upgrade and it did make it in one day even though dell's ETA was for 9/10. Well worth the wait!!!

It's 9/7/2007 (aka my ESD)...no phone call, no email, no update on a new shipping day online--I'm apparently still supposed to have it on Monday. Called the 800 number, I'm still in "Build" (go figure), and somehow the ESD magically disappeared from the recording.

Dell is so considerate.

BUT I love hearing about everyone getting theirs shipped in....It's so encouraging!

 

RebCar: I was about to post the exact same thing. The 800 number still says Build, but no ESD. I haven't gotten a delay email, and the online order status page still says In Production... looks like we are in the exact same boat. Good luck!

 

Finally got my pink 1420 yesterday! Kind of. Had it shipped to my parent's house in another town because I knew I would not be home to sign for the package. But that's close enough for me! I will be driving out there to get it today after work. It even shipped next day like they promised, which shocked me. Took 49 days, but I am sure it will be worth it.

The only catch is that they shipped my LoJack (sp?) separately.... by ground. A day later. Whatever. I have the most important part.

I hope you all get yours soon! The wait is so frustrating.

I've been reading this forum for awhile now as my teenage daughter is waiting for her pink 1420 that I ordered on 7/28. Everyone's comments, suggestions and updates have been very helpful in dealing with the 'Dell-ays' as someone here described it so well.

So far I've been promised Next Day shipping when I called to confirm a delay notification email and also $75 off when I used the Dell online Customer Service chat to try to get more info. While those concessions help ease the pain a little, but as I told them what I really want is the laptop to be shipped!

I'm happy to hear some are actually shipping!!! It gives the rest of us a glimmer of hope!

It's Here It's Here!!!!! DHL just delivered it to me!! It was even less than 24 hours. It left Dell in Tenn. last night at 9pm and arrived here in Southern New Jersey at my home at 12:15pm EST. Anyone with a 9/12 ESD keep your eyes peeled!!!!!!
I'm almost afraid to open the box, with all the hassle so far my luck will be that it's BLACK!!!!! I will keep you posted!!!!!!

RebCar/TessD... I did not get a delay email or phone call the 1st 3 delays. I found out through Dell Chat and through the order status page where it lists all your specs and has the ESD/EDD on it... Also with the Mail Order Rule... In all my 6 delays I've only received the notification of the Mail Order Rule twice... and that's for both shipdates that were more than a month after my original ship date...

I called the automatic phone lady at 11:30 PM, and she says it shipped and is on its way to the carrier.
They also shipped the printer I ordered with it, but not the Xi-Fi sound card.
