Flamingo Pink 1420

Well my carry bag and mouse that I ordered this weekend have shipped... if only my computer would as well. I got a call from someone I had chatted with last week, he verified the delay date of 10/1. So looks like it'll be a while.

 

aww tess it'll come in due time... im still waiting cuz my lappy and stuff are being delivered to my job, it's been w/ the courier since 8am and i get off work in 10mins... i called dhl and the woman i spoke to said they deliver to businesses up until 5pm but for regular residences up until 8pm so hopefully i won't have to wait long

 

If it gets delivered after you leave will you go back later to get it, or just wait until tomorrow? I would be so impatient I'd go back if the office was still open so I could pick it up.

Okay, just got off the phone with the sales department. The guy I spoke with said that there are no parts backordered and that it is in manufacturing right now. He had this cute young-sounding voice with an accent and was laughing that it was taking so long ("Okay, I am still writing up the report, it will just take one more minute" and then a chuckle and then in a sing-song voice "I promise!")... he said he'll put a priority on the order, but I dunno if that will do any good. But at least his good mood made me smile. I'm hoping "in manufacturing" is not just the answer they are told to tell people, and that it really does mean they are putting it together now.

 

when i called dhl, the lady said up to 5pm for packages being delivered to businesses, i work for a district court and we close at 4:30 so im currently sitting in my car in the lot he'd have to turn into so i can get it and go! im so anxious to get it i don't mind waiting (i live 5mins from my job) so it's not that big of a deal to wait... problem is i wonder if the delivery guy knows it's a business (although it says "district court" as the address) becuz they can deliver up until 8pm normally and im not sitting here til 8pm! so if he's not here by 5:15, i'll have to wait til tomorrow im glad the guy made ur day, it's nice to talk to a csr who's polite and makes the conversation not seem so scripted and rehearsed hehehe

 

Oh, I see. That's a good idea. I would do the same thing. Good luck, hopefully later tonight you'll be writing to us from your new pink lappy!

 

i hope so too tess *everyone cross their fingers*... just got off the phone w/ another person from dhl ( they're gonna hate me come days end) this new lady now says that they deliver to businesses up til 6PM and that they deliver packages until their truck is cleared... she tried paging the local dhl station to tell them that im sitting here waiting (i feel like an idiot but i can't help it, i want it THAT badly!) but to no avail, she tried again and told them to give me a call on my cell to tell me when the delivery guys ETA will be (yay!).... omg!!! i got it! i got it!! lmao! midway through typing this the dhl guy rolls up in the parking lot, im so giddy! finally! now, im off to call del about my compensation i was promised once i received it in a chat session... wish me luck w/ that

 

YAY! Good luck with compensation. I'm trying to keep my mind off the phone, otherwise I call the automated system obsessively just hoping to hear it's in testing or boxing.

it just came about an hour ago (the guy was running late), and i booted it up and did all the setup and it works really well.

wow, everybody's lappys are coming... and lemme tell ya, you wont be disappointed.... im in love with it, in fact i am typing away on it right now. its the perfect size (i plan on takin pics and uploading them so u guys can see when i get back home) i thought i'd need like a "dell inspirons for dummies" to set it up but it was sooo easy! i was surprise this computer thing is so easy! LOL im just finally glad to have what i worked hard to pay for

tess, i got my compensation.... i was given reference #'s and everything, they said it'll take til the next billing cycle to show up on my dell preferred account, when it does i wanna get a nice carrying bag cuz right now i have this hideous, basic black bag.. i need something flashy.... and PINK!! hehehe

 

That is great, Erika. I'm so glad you love it. I currently have an Inspiron 5100 laptop so I'm not expecting much of a learning curve for me. Hehe.

Yay for everyone getting their computers, and here's hoping the rest come sooner than later as well.

One thing I don't understand... why was my ESD pushed back until Mid. Oct? Everyone else seems to only get delayed a week at a time...I think my clueless CSR made a mistake with the month, maybe he meant 9/18 instead of 10/18??? But the site also says 10/18...maybe because I basically agreed to it...after getting really angry. I have no idea??? Nothing surprises me with Dell anymore...

 

DHL Still has no knowledge of my tracking number... that depresses me...

Not_Pretty... I got a bag made for my lappy... (on Ebay)... I'll post a pic... she does all kinds of custom bags and you can pick your fabric... but here's a pink of my specially made Flaminga Bag (minus the bottle)

 

Guess what !!!! My Boss just called me and told me my laptop is here! (Had it delivered to my job so some1 could sign for it... ) Wish I didn't have an 11 O clock class.. but oh well... I feel at peace with the universe... :-D

My daughter's Pink 1420 Shipped today!!! Should arrive tomorrow. Unfortunately her Dell AIO 926 Printer is still on backorder (latest ESD 9/24), but as long as the laptop is on it's way all is good in her world! Once we receive it I can apply for the $75 discount I was offered! To all those still waiting, keep the faith! It shouldn't be too much longer! The Pinks are shipping!

Angie - I got pushed back to 10/15/07. Plus, my hubby called to complain yesterday, and later when I checked my status, they took away my next day shipping. I'm getting where I'm sick of worrying about this computer. I mean I'm dreaming about it at night. I'm obsessed with calling the automated number, hoping that miraculously it will change from build. So, I'm going to try not to call the number until Monday. We'll see how that goes.

Luckily, I don't absolutely need the computer right now, though it would help me with work.

 

awesome, congrats delldad!! don't lose hope angie and jackie, i was po'ed at dell for the longest and then finally, voila! it went from build to boxing overnite so just be patient and it'll pay off i promise... i dreamt about mine too! before it came, i dreamt it was pushed back again until like november.... i woke up thinkin "omg, is it really pushed back til november??" i had to go online and check! lol thanks myztery for her user name, i'll definitely have to look into that... does the bag offer a lot of protection and has space for other things to put in it?

I am so excited for all of you! Thanks for the pictures, Erika, I love that the computer matches your comforter! Mine is still in build, so nothing new there. But my carry case should be getting here today, and the Flamingo Pink Logitech wireless mouse tomorrow.

 

YAY!! I've been shipped!!! Now I really hope they send it next day delivery b/c I'm going out of town tomorrow night until Monday. Hopefully I'll have it tomorrow!!

Shouldn't take long to ship from Tenn to SC, right??

 

And, hang in there AngieSTL and JackieFL. Hopefully yours will come in soon. But Jackie--I don't know of 1720's that have shipped. Have you known of any?

Love all the pics and updates. Everything from this bulletin has been so helpful (props to Angie for starting it!). I would've never known to expect all my ESD's to get pushed back, or how long I would be in boxing.

I sometimes feel silly obsessing over a computer like this, but the info has been great.

oh god tess, i love pink! my whole room is done in shades of pink, i've even got a pink carpet...

the pinks are coming, the pinks are coming!! i agree w/ ya reb, big ups to angie for starting this and giving all of us flamingo pinks a place to vent and compare stories and share pics... i felt silly too obsessing but now i don't becuz it makes u feel better knowing that there are people who are goin through the same bs w/ dell as you and the big payoff is worth it

 

Jackie Imma a 1720... and my Flaminga came today... I was obsessed too... every1 was laughing @ me for calling every day ... my fiance' even called this a support group lol and it kinda is... you all helped me make it through... lol

Not Pretty... You just tell her what u want to do with your bag, how much stuff u want to carry in there and from that she makes a listing just for it... I know with my laptop being 17 inches I had to have a bigger bag because it wouldn't fit in a smaller bag and my Flaminga deserves a bag with some space and room for other things like notebooks, pens, etc. ...ANDDDDDD.... My room is pink also... I remodeled my room in July right after I ordered my laptop because I was already in love with it.. so I have had a pink room for 2 months and finally the most important accessory!!!..

I agree, this is totally like a support group. And when I start getting stressed about other things in life, I call the automated number because it's actually calming for me to hear that familiar voice telling me exactly what I already know. "This order is in production" I say with her "and is currently, in the build stage." LOL. Is that sad?

 

AhhhhhhhhhhHAHAHA...TESS! I say it with her, too!!! I didn't know what to do when she said, "This order is in production. It is currently in the BOXING stage." I was so used to saying BUILD! But, yes, for the record..we are definitely sad.

My friends and family laugh at me for being on this thing so much...but it's so necessary. Ha!

Don't worry, the accessories aren't all dell-ayed like the computers. I ordered the mouse Monday and I'm getting it tomorrow.

I actually ordered the Logitech (wireless) and the pink Saitek (wired) that's only $12, and I'm gonna decide which I like more.

 

They shipped my mouse yesterday, same day I ordered... that shocks me...

They actually pushed back the sleeve I ordered to 10/15 too. Not that I need it before my lappy, but I thought that was kind of weird. I love the color pink. I have 3 sons so I need to surround myself with some feminimity somewhere. I'd do my bedroom in pink, but I don't think my hubby would like that. I'm going to start SCUBA diving with my husband, and they have pink dive gear. I'm so excited. It doesn't take much.

I'm so glad I found this group. Now I don't feel so bad about being obsessed about calling that automated number all the time. I call it first thing when I wake up in the morning just hoping that it will say something other than "Build", but so far it hasn't. Well, I've decided to wait a little longer. I mean I've waited this long, plus I'm getting excited again because all y'all are getting yours. I did notice that if I ordered one today, there is no delay on any of the colors on any of the models and the ESD is 10/4. Don't know why mine is 11 days after that, but we'll see what happens. Hopefully they've gotten caught up on all the colors and they'll get them out before my ESD. Hopefully way before my ESD date.

I have lots of pink stuff too (including cell phone and ipod 'cuz I love pink tech stuff) but my bedroom is decorated in lots of different shades of purple and I love it. If Dell had pink AND purple options it would have been a tough choice... but I would probably still have gone pink. Hehe. I've even thought that if I had the money for it I would consider getting my car painted pink!

 

my best friends mom said she would have got a lappy if it came in purple, she's obsessed w/ purple... i wish i could get my car painted a pretty pearl pink color and have it where like it looks like it's changing between a pearl pink and a brighter pink... it's a 2000 chevy impala, i think it'd look hott!! lol i've thought too much about this
