... uhhhhh... how does being "expedited" cut down the build time? It means that it just gets over-night shipping. Times for Knitting, Building, Testing, and Boxing stages should still remain the same.
-
-
All I do all day is check my order status page, even though they obviously don't update it on the weekend.
-
anyone move into testing stage yet......i moved from pre-production to build last thursday..........still in build right now.........i had an estimated ship date of 8/15 so this early prodcution has me really excited........
-
I think free overnight shipping and expediting are different, she didn't mention anything about giving me free shipping, i'll try and find info on it
-
-
Wags... I dont mean to get you down but you might be building for a looong time... or you can get lucky and ship within the week, just don't hold your breath buddy
-
I ordered my laptop yesterday and I asked the sales rep if there was anything that could be done to get my computer shipped to me faster.. her response was that she could put an expedite order on it... as she explained it, it means that the computer will be "put to the front of the line" of all those that need to be built. It is not in reference to the actual shipping of the computer. It will just get built before the others...your shipping method stays the same.
-
-
I think they're lucky to know what they mean 1/8th the time, but yes I'm more inclined to thinking it will cause riots instead of getting free over night shipping but it might be put near the front or they give you laptop with the same exact configuration, we may never know what they really do, if they do anything at all... I just want to go to bed and get my laptop...
-
Exactly... cause... how does it make sense when someone ordered yesterday gets into the BUILD stage when I ordered on July 1st and I'm stuck in pre-production. That doesn't seem fair at all!!!
-
You reason it with these two words... "Its Dell..." and then you let out a long drawn out sigh like this *Long Siigghhh...*
Your ordering a 1330 tho, am I correct? I think they started selling those before they had them to sell if you know what i mean -
-
so yeah, i dont have overnight shipping... -
expedited = mind ****, don't really do anything, but make you think they do
Overnight shipping = Dell's response to just about every problem
Overly long pre-production stage = Dell sold more products then they had the parts to build for, as well as if they even had the parts to begin with
Long in-production = see pre-production reason
testing stage = turn on, turn off let sit for 3 days while they drink a few
boxing stage = slap in box, lose in warehouse, play football with it
shipping stage = find laptop, slap DHL, Fedex, UPS label on it, throw in area corresponding to the shipper
I throughly believe that this is about the jist of Dell's inner workings -
^^ funny post

well considering I ordered my 1520 on the 28th, and I have seen barely anyone that ordered the yellow model, I was told that my color choice is what was holding it up. So how exactly are they already out of yellow casings when almost no one has ordered them, and I know I had to have one of the first orders (well not first, but much earlier then most of you). So as you can see I seriously believe in everything I said.
-
-
LMAO, yeah, maybe. Never thought of that one...lol. See, if they would have only had orange that wouldn't of been a problem..lol.
-
my money went towards the 1420... I ordered it on the 14th and supposedly it will be shipped out on the 3rd. First she told me that the estimated shipping date was the 8th of August. I asked her if she could speed things up..then she told me to expect the laptop on the 3rd or before.
I agree with one of the previous posts.. I just want to go to bed and wake up with a laptop -
My order status won't show up... :-(
Hopefully it'll be there in the morning.... -

I will admit it! I am an addict. If you are a M1330 consumer then it is a sad existence.
-
Lol, It would be funny if Dell got creative one day, and set their bot to recognize ALL phone calls stemming from people that ordered a m1330 and it went something like this:
"Please Enter Your Order #"
"Ok, I have some important information for you, If you need to hear it again, say repeat it, Ok, here we go"
"Your order is in production, and is currently in the build stage, as it has been for the past 2 weeks. Your order is not going to go into the testing stage anytime soon, so maybe you should stop calling our line or go order a different laptop." -
Guys, I have made progress. I only called in 2 times today.
-
Good Job! You're improving. LMAO...
-
I'm improving...I only called in 25 times, instead of my usual of 96 times
-
ditto. i check my m1330 status 4 times a day, i have memorized the 411 to get to status and my order # so i can check it when not at home....
-
I am not even going to check the status of mine today since its not supposed to ship untill almost SEPT
-
I don't get this. Mine has been in build stage since last tuesday. Reps last week said the WSXGA+ (1680x1050) screen was now backordered, but my sales rep said he didn't see anything to indicate that and it doesn't say on the website that it will delay my ship date. It does still say the WXGA+ (1440x900) will delay your ship date, yet people who ordered a day or 2 before me and got the 1440x900 screen, have had theirs ship this past weekend.
I also found that I could upgrade to the 256MB videocard and keep everything else the same on my config and save $5 over what I'm paying now. If I downgrade to the 1440x900 then I'd save about $50. BUT that will restart my order. I don't really know what to do. Any thoughts or recommendation? -
My thoughts are, I first ordered a 1521, than I heard about the hard drive and ram deal and decided if I'm going to buy, I might as well get the best for what I want.
Here's my "timeline" so to speak since the day I ordered my 1721..hasn't changed a bit:
7/7 -processing
7/8 -processing
7/9 -build
7/10 -build
7/11 -8am build
7/12 -723am build
7/13 -8:48 am build
7/13 -12:21pm build
7/14 -7:44pm build
7/16 -9:39am build
I'm done checking this thing, and I'm on the verge of cancelling it and buying a vaio. -
After so long, you just lose hope, ya know? I'm doubting mine will even show up when its supposed to now...
-
It's pretty bad when they can't decently make the laptops in a timely manner that were bought within the first hour of the product being introduced.

What was your estimated delivery date?
-
Grats front, Mines been in production for well over a week now... I'm getting kinda depressed about it...
-
Keep ya head up Lynus, you will get it before years end...LOL
-
I have a better chance of winning the lotto than getting my notebook anytime soon it seems... I'm turning 18 in two weeks too so that shows my faith in dell
-
I am just waiting for DHL to get here qith my 1520.........gah I hope they get here in the next 2 hours or I am going to have to go to work and wait again tommorow!
-
if any m1330 user, I don't care if you got it the day it came out, gets theirs before my 1721, which barely anybody bought, I'm going to jump off a tall building.
-
NO WAY, you should definitely call off...lol I certainly would for that.
Ahh Lynus, to be young again, when you are old like me (25) you will see that patience is a virtue, yet still a PITA...lol
I tell you though that if I could get a similarly configured laptop anywhere else for close to the price, I would of left Dell in the dust. Unfortunately I can't so I must wait as I don't have the cash for the others. -
Yea I know what you mean and I know I should wait and its no big deal because I've gone so long with out it, but I'm really looking forward to be able to play games that look good on my lappy because this desktop is god knows how old and has an integrated GPU so the most i've been able to play is like WoW and similar graphical games
-
Testing stage as of 11:00 this morning!!(7/16) Ordered 7/3... Anyone know how long the testing and boxing stages are?
-
I've heard up to as long as your build stage but its only bout 3 days i think
-
-
I can't call off, I already called off Saturday and Sunday because my dog died saturday morning, and my boss got everything all smoothed over for me and he is pretty cool so I don't want to screw things up for him more than I already have. DHL still has two and a half hours to go before I have to leave!
-
... Blah I don't want to hear it from you  ... I'm caffeine deprived ... Just let it go, I meant that I've heard it takes as long as your build stage, but i think its just up to three days to test and box so I don't know for all I know it could ship out tomorrow. Grats on testing tho, mines in the build stage still
-
Mine shipped on 7/13 (DHL ground) estimated delivery 7/18-7/20 but I just got an email update from DHL that it's out for delivery!
If anyone wants to see pics of a brown one, how do I add pics to my post? I can upload them to my website and add links, but how do I embed them in a post? -
Theres a little button in the quick reply that says insert image, i imagine the post reply page has it too
-
Thanks Lynus
-
No prob, now just make sure my laptop arrives early and we'll all be happy
