Help! suffering from status addiction

Well, I did it. I called this morning and asked about having my order expedited. The guy came back and said he checked with the "manufacturing team" and the 1680x1050 screen is backordered. Sooooo...since I'm going to be waiting indefinately anyway, I called my sales rep and changed my order. Upgraded the videocard to the 256MB and upgrade the hard drive to the 7200rpm. Also, downgraded the screen to the 1440x900 which seems to be more popular with most of the people I've seen on here. When all was said and done, I saved about $5 over my original order, got a faster hard drive, doubled my videocard and now my estimated ship date is 8/9/2007.

 

Estimated date was 8/21

 

Well I got free next day shipping now but it doesn't look like is will ship soon

 

If I see one more person say they got theirs before I got mine, I think i'm going to cry... This just sucks so bad, I ordered the 1505 was delayed a month and a half, and then canceled it thinking they wouldn't have delays with the 1520. My ship date is Wednesday and it is now Monday night, and it's still in build stage. I think I was just not meant to get a laptop from dell.

edit: Maybe I can get them to send me one of their new ultrasharp 27" LCD's for my trouble That would make me happy again....lol

 

I know how you feel buddy, my comp is better than my friends but he has his i don't have mine.

 

I just called that number to check on my order and it said its in the notorious "build" stage.

It also then reaffirmed the ship date on September 6th.

Just keep in mind that sometimes they over estimate (sometimes two - three weeks) the estimated ship date... and the estimate ship date rarely ever changes.

So just be happy .

 

They overestimated me by 13 days.

I'm sitting here with both of my 1520s.

 

I just picked mine up and am actually on it right now .

As for dbam, they always use the original estimate i believe, mine said that it was in the boxing stage, and that it would be shipped on 7/17. Considering i'm already using it, i think they were wrong.

unless they so happily delay it as I have experienced. I just priced out another one if they keep up the decent coupons I will give them one delay, and then I will reorder with changed specs, as long as they keep the free 2GB upgrade and hdd, then I can give my dad the 2GB I already have bought for this one. He just bought a 17" compaq from Compusa (C2D, 1 gig...) for like $600, I should of just went and got that... although I couldn't game on it, at least I would actually HAVE it...lol.

 

That's it, I'm going off to rock in the corner and cry until my notebook gets here

 

lol, in a strange kind of way, its fun to read up on all these forums wondering about the laptop. i'm an addict in checking the status of my order at least 10 times every day since July 7th, 2007.

 

I just called and apparently said the wrong number, I got so happy because it said it was shipped, then it said it was sent on january...2002...Lol I guess next time I should actually listen to the numbers being read back to see if I got them right...still in build stage.

 

you can just punch in the number as soon as she says "thank you for calling..." i forget the rest cuz by then i'm punchin away

 

I would but I am rarely using my dial pad, I have a BT headset with voicedial capabilities. Usually I don't even have my phone near me.

that's alright, because judging from past performance from Dell you will get yours before i get mine, and I can push yours off the table and stomp on it before mine has even shipped...LMAO Then I will laugh at you and open your keyboard and pee on it... just for good measure. I think I should see an anger counselor, they will ask me what my problem is and i will be like "one word: Dell"

 

Damn and I have the poop warranty too... well i'll then fly to Malaysia and put my pee ridden laptop in your box and leave with your pee colored laptop in my hands and then use it for eternity until i get a new one and then throw yours into a tire fire

We probably could probably build a house with all the time we spend pressing the refresh button and calling in the 1-800 number line. LMAO...

 

That would be fine but you will never find my pee colored laptop or my box, because i am beggining to think they don't exist and dell is just playing mind games with me.



If all the refreshes I have done and calls I have made were legos, I could build a mansion of unheard of proportions. It would make Disney land look like an ant hill....lol

I ordered on July 11 at night. I had the order expedited because DFS cancelled my previous order for stupid verification reasons...real a**holes.

 

I had mine "expedited" a couple days ago, yea right, they prolly just told me that to get me off the phone

 

Awesome! Congrats on the new laptop. I know that there's pictures out on the Internet of the laptop, but whats the harm in seeing a few more?

I'm not a complainer but I got a call today from the sales rep who helped me saying that the est. ship date was still August 13th and they'll keep me posted.

That's 33 days from when I placed my order, and some people are already receiving theirs. I'm going to call and *****, 33 days is nuts.

 

Thank you thank you (**bows**) It was a LONG stressful process concerning my dealings with Dell over my computer but it is finally coming to a conclusion (hopefully)


Just have to get my $200 credits applied.

That's what I was like yesterday, I woke up at 6am and sat downstairs with the blinds open so I could see my driveway. I eventually got up and took a 2 minute shower but every minute I'd get out and check the window butt naked. It finally arrived at around 11am or so. I was so ecstatic, you should have seen how sloppy my signature was on the pad.

 

Ok, that is just too hardcore for me......Once I'm in the shower I don't get out for anyone.

I swear hong kong is like 4-5 day process for them and they have good services and warranty if you know cantonese/chinese. haha

With great luck, my laptop might actually be here this weekend, keeping fingers crossed. I just chatted with a Dell rep online and she/he (can't tell them foreign names(god, I sound like a hick)) told me that my screen is the only thing delaying it right now, and that it should arrive tomorrow.

 

It would be uber awesome if Dell could tell us all the parts they're waiting on for each and every build. Kind of like when I went one time to repair a *ahem* fender bender on my car, the dealership had setup a website showing snapshots of the car's progression in being repaired.

Dell could do something similar, by listing on an order when the parts were scheduled to arrive to the assembly line, and maybe some pictures of the laptop being built. To develop such a system would take some careful planning though, as its hard to coordinate all the hidden procedures.

 

reading this thread just made me a status addict. i thought i'll get my m1330 few days before estimated delivery as any other previous dell's malaysian customer, so i'll just believed what they told me. the assembling factory is just 3-4 hour drive from my place,so i don't think i should worry bout the delivery, but reading some of the responds u got from ur dell reps really makes me feel there's gonna be delayed for my m1330.

i ordered on 15/7 and the estimated delivery is 3rd august.

 

may I ask which country you are in right now?

 

o, it's malaysia. i think most of dell's laptop are being assemble here. to be exact, in penang, malaysia n i'm in kuala lumpur. usually malaysian customers get their laptop in about 5 working days.
