Thanks Vishal. Btw I called them twice today (with a gap of an hr) and got diferent status. First person told me that my order is now in customs and other told that it is in transit from Malaysia. Not able to figure out exact status. Will keep calling them..

Well....i ordered an a dell xps 1530 on 13th dec ....got ship from factory on 15th dec.....after that the online status did not update and there was no estimated delivery date ....the EDD came yesterday showing 3rd Jan ....i called them and they said that my lap is out of customs but the online status still shows ship from factory ...i live in Delhi so i am hoping that it will be delivered before 3rd !!!!

 

Does the Belkin Messenger Bag i ordered come with the lap or seperately?

 

Today's status is: My notebook is in customs (since last 5 days.. ) and it will be out by early next week..hopefully!! EDD is still 7th Jan 08

Mine is out for delivery with the carrier today. I'm really surprised at how fast they got it out considering my initial ship date was set as 01/11/08. If it does arrive as it is scheduled today then the whole process from order to delivery will take 7 days which is pretty impressive.

 

A good way to tell is to look at your order status online. If it has associated orders, those will ship separately. Check to see if you have additional orders and if you bag is included in one of those.

oops just noticed this was the Dell India thread. Not sure if the site there is set up the same way or if that is only a US thing.

 

wt ever bag u have orderd for if free or paid for should be included in ur quotation..if it is it will come along with ur machine..unlike free bees such as mouse and pen drive and all come sepratley..later after the machine is delivered..
online status is bad it never works..keep callin ur sales guy he will help u track ur machine delivery status..he will give ur the best delivery time possible..customer care guys give uthe maximum days of delivery..they play it safe..and if delivery is getin delayed more then 2/3 days..jsut ask for compensation or warn them thatu will cancell the order..and mostly u will be benfited..tc..

 

I ordered a Vostro 1200 on 20/12 and teh order status showed that it was in build process. Then for some strange reason the order was shown as cancelled on 24/12 and I was sent a fresh order number on 26/12.

The fresh order number shows build complete and shipped from factory on 28/12. Any idea how long from shipping to arriving in India? and customs etc? They had promised me this by 02/01/2008 and I need it by 10/01 while their EDD is now 16/01.

 

Well my order date was 13...shipped on 15 and cleared customs on 24 and i think its going to reach me tomorrow even though the EDD is 3 jan.

 

I know that they really delayed your lappy but by your own admission you got well compensated for that. After that to lie and then brag on the forum? Man - you're disgusting and people like you cost us genuine customers. Who do you think pays for all that you loot Dell for?

Does DELL sends their enginner to install a laptop at the time of actual delivery? I suppose that the charges for it are already taken by DELL (as basic setup fee??). Are we suppose to keep the box un-opened till their enginner arrives?

Any idea why CPU (C2D T7250, 2.0GHz, 2MB Cache, 800 MHz FSB) in Vostro 1400/1500 is more expensive than identical CPU in Inspron 1530?

 

i got my xps yesterday and i opened it...i think the basic setup is installing vista and the drivers which they hav installed.You can open the box if u like and the engg. wont come unless u call them.Why dont you call and make sure...

ORDERED 13 DEC.
DELIVERED 31 DEC....JUST BEFORE THE NEW YEAR.....

 

Yesterday I received an email from DELL stating that my order is further delayed till 28/01 , earlier EDD was 07/01. Last week CS told me that my order has cleared customs, completed invoicing and handed over to logistics. Wondering why is this delay now? Does anybody received similar "Order Delayed" mails who have ordered around 18/12?

My order was placed on 20/12, and on 25/12 I find that that order had been cancelled and a fresh order was place don 26/12. No edequate explanation given by Dell guys. So now my EDD is 16/01 while verbally they had promised me by 02/01.

Hope this whole Dell thing is not a huge mistake.

 

Install a laptop? Just open the box, take out the laptop and power supply and turn it on. Am I missing something?

 

Yup - you missed the "place on desk/lap" and "open the screen".

 

Actually I got a call from local DELL office and the guy told me to contact them once I receive my laptop. He said he will be sending an enginner to install & inspect the laptop.

i had placed the order of "Dell 1520" on 28 Decemeber 2007 with the default configuration.
i am not a gamer so there is no point in going for graphic card.

now the thing is that Dell has launched a new model "Dell 1525" which seems to be better than the latter since it has HDMI output and Vista premium and it also weighs less and more sleeker.

can u suggest what should i do as i still haven't got the delivery
i am supposed to get the delivery around 21 january 2008.

now i need to know this:

can i exchange it for 1525 from the DELL.
if yes whats the procedure?
what are the things that i need to be taken care of?
what are the prospects of returning the notebook?
how much time in days do i have to place the request for return or to replace the order?
is that time will be after placing the order or after i get the delivery? i.e. after 28 december or after (18-20 january 2007)
how much time will Dell take to make the refund or replace the product?
will Dell first take the product back and then send me a new product or the both will happen simaltaneously like giving new and taking back old one at the same time?

prices of both the models 1520 and 1525 is same.
i had brought 1520 at price of RS 39990 (excluding delivery and handling charges) which equals to Mrp of 40650 RS
i had made a credit card payment

1520 and 1525 have no major differences. Its just that 1525 is bit lighter (~200gm). Also, if you wish you can install WinXP in 1520. 1525 don't have XP options/drivers from dell. So, relax and enjoy your 1520...

I ordered Inspiron 1525 on 10th Jan, order executed on 11th Jan, shipped from factory 14th Jan, EDD was 4th Feb; but guess what....I got the laptop on 29th Jan!! It seem Dell's shipping system has improved a lot! Btw. I'm from Calcutta.

You'll get the laptop well before the EDD bro for ex mine was 5 Feb and i got it on 27 Jan itself so just call Dell Customer Care and ask the status of your product

I ordered Vostro 1500 on 25.01.2008, Shipped from factory in malaysia on 26.01.2008 with E.D.D. as 14.02.08. Still in shipping & I recd an email from dell yesterday telling me that new E.D.D. is 24.02.08.....
