Don't diss the monkeys. They say they could've written Shakespeare if we had given them typewriters...

And seeing as Sirius placed an order later than any employee would be at Dell, I think it's just a matter of waiting a few minutes, but don't hold me to that.

Drake is the best one we know of at this point; if you want to look around and try to find another, have at it.

Riddlerx09, please keep us informed of your progress in your purchase. If all goes well, I will take the plunge tomorrow morning.

Chem, I've been searching through other schools since I found out about this. No luck yet finding other schools. It would be great if we do find others so that it would be a bit more spread out in the number of purchases using that school's deal.

I've covered iowa (I'm from drake and u of iowa) illinois and colorado and a bit of cali. Drake has the best for m1330 u of iowa has the best for d630s and university of northern iowa has the best d420 deals.

The drake discount I'm seeing is almost $800. Not $650. At my univeristy, the discount is $650. Am I right about drake? I went to dell.com/drake to see this. Only looking at M1330.

I think dell.com/(your_university's_.edu_domain) may be the scheme they're using. At least, worked for me on first guess.

This is just great, I was all ready to buy the 1520 but I had my eye on the 1330 but thought, no it was two expensive. But now I can get it configured roughly the same for the same price?! Decisions.........

chem, what is your university? And the dell.com/[.edu domain] doesn't always work - for Cornell I know it's different (the deals aren't even worth posting, sorry).

You can subtract $119 more from the Drake discount if you drop the accidental coverage and Lojack from the system. You can also add a free Dell Nylon Carrying case for FREE. Can at least eBay it for $10-20 if you dont want it.

edit: the wustl deal is the same as berkeley.

Not to mention -100 dollars when you cancel the printer. The drake deal is roughly $1000 off dell home.

Wouldn't the accidental coverage be a good deal? I mean, it could be two years from now, and your laptop falls off the top of your car (accidentally) and totally craps out. They have to replace it. Brand new M1330, if not better...?

Is the LED display worth the money? And overall is it going to be more durable than the the traditional LCD screen?

    Will do.

University of Florida has the 1330 starting at $1,165.80 but that is only with 1 gig of ram. However there is an option for a fingerprint reader, which Drake did not have.

And at the bottom line, if they cancel the order and Dell doesn't want my money I will be more than happy with a T61.

The sad part is, I was eyeing the D630 you had on sale Sirius, regardless of the dusty screen haha. But an M1330 at that price is unbeatable. I hope you can flip it to help with the M1330. I feel worse about using your tip while your D630 is still on sale, than I do about technically scamming dell.

Yeah that does sound good but why would I put it on top of my car? $119 is quite a bit, that nearly 10% of the purchase price. But basically, I could just drop this on the floor on purpose in 2.5 years and ill get a new one? Seems to easy to exploit, much like this deal.. lol (i.e. earthquake insurance...)

Correct me if im wrong, if not then its a great deal :)

Sirius did you get an order confirmation number from them or just the order has been acknowledged email? Also did they give you any slack about canceling the printer order? Do they charge your credit card when you place the order or only when the order ships?

Dell will issue a temporary fund on your credit card once you complete your order, but will not get charged until the notebook ships.

The Florida deal can be customized to up the RAM and other options.

I just priced out a beefy 2.4 GHz, 160GB/7200rpm, 2GB RAM machine. Drake is best so far. Florida is second by about $100. wustl/berkeley third (tie) by about another $100.

I found the florida deal by google searching for dell on site:ufl.edu and taking the link to their store. Drake via dell.com/drake.

Canada already has a nice M1330 deal, on the main dell.ca page. I think it's 2GB RAM, C2D T7100 for $1,499 CAD. Not sure about the graphics card, and it's not the LED screen, but it's not bad at all.

I find the LSU price (dell.com/lsu) to be about $200 more than drake for an equal configured high end M1330. LSU ties with wustl and berkeley.

I am just going to stick with my legit order through home. The red flag is gonna come when everyone is ordering the new XPS 1330 through Drake. Then Dell is gonna look at the orders and verfy no one goes there and then cancel all orders. I would say you would have had a chance if it was shipping within 2-3 days but I say we have at least a 2 week lead time.

They're probably not, but hey it's worth a try, right?

Sirius seems to be the only person who has received an order confirmation and he ordered his June 28th morning.

Sirius, if you're awake, I've got a question for you. In another thread about your M1330 and the price, you said "If you guys could take advantage of it, I would definitely let you know, but trust me it's not possible." What changed??

    Hickabickaboo,

How did he order it on June 28 but he says
If it's been in production for 2 days then that means the order was placed before the 28th.

Does anyone know if these prices are the way they are because Drake University subsidizes? UC Riverside was selling the black MacBook back in March for 200 dollars cheaper than any other store even with Apple's $100 off education discount. Is this part of a campus thing or a dell thing?

for the m1330, no i havent.

I want to clarify something. If you get a confirmation (customer/order numbers) does that mean they will be producing your system, for sure? Or can they turn around after 2 weeks of waiting and cancel it?

I ordered a 1420 for a great price last night, and I want to cancel it, but then if they cancel my m1330 then I'm SOL.

Yeah it's weird how they do different prices for different universities. I'm a university student at another school so I don't think its a big deal to take advantage of this. Problem is, it doesnt look like it's happening. I'm probably gonna go with the e1420 with $200 coupon and EPP discount if this doesnt work out.
